Rewritten as of 2/12/20

Nightmare re appeared deep in the forest, as he pulled some of the light arrows from his back using his tentacles. Oh how he hated that bow, it reminded him to much of his old brother, and the pain didn't help the case too much. Nightmare limped through the forest, stopping under a large tree, as he leaned against it.

Nightmare: maybe I'll just rest my eyes, for a little bit.

Nightmare laid against the tree, as darkness greeted him quickly

Nightmare was awoken by the sound of voices, he didn't open his eyes as he listened in on the conversation.

???: You're sure it's alive?

???2: Yes I'm sure mercury, why else would cinder send us out here?

The newly identified mercury groaned

Mercury: What even is it?

???2: I don't know, but cinder wants it, so does mistress Salem.

One of Nightmares tentacles crept up behind mercury, as another did the same to the other unknown party. Nightmare knew he was far too weak to take both of them on in fair combat, so he supposed it was only fair to use more unfair tactics. He hit both party's with his tentacles, sending them crashing into each other. He opened his eyes and quirkily jumped up, assessing his enemies.

Mercury: what the fuck! I thought it was asleep emerald!

The other one, now identified as emerald spoke up

Emerald: I thought it was, now get it!

Mercury cracked his neck and got into a fighting position

Mercury: my pleasure!

He did lunge and attempted to kick nightmare, who rolled out of the way, and grabbed mercury throwing him into the big tree. Emerald's eyes widened as she ran into the tree line, leaving mercury. Nightmare stepped up to mercury, who jumped back up and attempted to kick him, only for the kick to he parried by nightmares tentacle

Nightmare: who sent you?

Mercury: wouldn't you like to know? 

Mercury swept nightmare feet out from under him, only for nightmare to grab mercury as he fell, taking them both down. Nightmare then grabbed mercury and once again threw him into the big tree, but this time impaled him through his leg with a branch

Nightmare; now, who sent you?

Mercury spat at nightmare, who prepared to end the annoyance, only for a voice to stop him

???: brother.

Nightmare turned to see the impossible, his brother Dream was standing there, alive and in front of him.

Nightmare: impossible, you should be gone!

Dream kept walking towards nightmare, who was slowly backing away

Dream: nightmare, how could you kill all of us?

Nightmare stopped walking, and frowned

Nightmare: your not dream, dream would never say that.

Nightmare grabbed the fake dream

Nightmare: who are you?

The illusion melted away, leaving emerald in nightmare's grasp, who smiled

Emerald: who's dream?

Nightmare squeezed emerald tighter, who began to squirm and try to get out.

Nightmare: I'll ask you one more time, who sent you?

???: that would be me.

Nightmare turned towards the THIRD mysterious voice.

Cinder: my name is cinder fall, and I sent my associates you defeated here to take you to my master. She wishes to have an Audience with you.

Nightmare dropped emerald, who grasped her throat in pain

Nightmare: and what makes you think I wish to have an audience with her?

Cinder smiled

Cinder: if you will not go by choice, you will go by force

She ignited both her palms with fireballs, as nightmare grimaced

Nightmare: very well then.

Cinder launched both her fireballs at nightmare, who took the shot and instantly fell. Cinder smiled

Mercury: that's who were recruiting?

Cinder: he was weakened by Ozpin, we had it easy

Nightmare came to and attempted to stand, only to find he was chained to the floor of a throne room. He looked up to the throne to see a pale women with red eyes staring back at him

Salem: You are nightmare, guardian of negativity, correct?

Nightmare nodded

Nightmare: I am. Why am I here?

Salem: I wish to have you on my side, you would assist me in all I need you too, similar to my other subjects.

Nightmare: what's in it for me?

Salem: We finally put an end to the guardian of positivity.

Nightmare smiled and bowed

Nightmare: I am yours, mistress
