nine
It's Karina's off day, and she has been waiting for this day to come. Winter agreed to give her first guitar lesson today, and Karina couldn't help but be happy about it.
Spending time with Winter might be one of the best cures she could find to forget about her heartbreaks. Winter brings her joy and happiness, and Karina couldn't explain why.
Karina was in her pink cardigan and denim pants when she pushed the doorbell to Winter's door. It didn't take that long for the other girl to open the door for her, with a big smile on both of their faces.
"Hi, Winter".
"Hi, Karina. Come in", Winter said with her cute smile before she pulled the taller girl by her wrist towards her living room. "You may take your seat. I'll make something for you to drink".
"You don't have to, Winter".
"No-uh. You are my guest", Winter chuckled as she made her way towards the kitchen pantry.
Karina watched every movement of Winter from the couch. From how the shorter girl pulls two teacups from the drawers, pouring the coffee from the coffee machine into each cup evenly, until stirring the sugar with a spoon.
What made Karina's smiles get wider was how Winter did everything with that big oversized sky-blue hoodie wrapping around her body.
Cute.
Winter then came back with the cups in each hand, and realizing how clumsy the shorter girl was, Karina stood up immediately from the couch, helping to hold both cups from Winter's hands.
"You should just let me give you the cups, Karina", Winter protested cutely before Karina chuckled lightly. "I'm not gonna let another glass break from your clumsy grips".
"Oopsie. Guilty", WInter laughs before she finally takes her seat right next to Karina.
The first ten minutes of the visit were spent with the girls sipping down the coffee with their tiny talks. After being friends with her neighbor for a month, finally Karina had the courage to ask Winter what did she do for a living.
Winter gladly tells her everything, from her trainee days to the auditions that will be held in two months. But she didn't tell Karina about her sickness. She didn't tell Karina why she visited the hospital almost every week.
"Should we start our lessons now?", Winter voiced out, trying to pull Karina out from the topic. Karina innocently nodded her head happily as Winter flashed her warm tiny smile.
"Wait here, I'll take my guitar for a short second"
Winter ran inside her bedroom, trying to reach her guitar from the stand with a smile. As she grabbed the guitar inside her grip, her actions came to a halt when that painful sensation hit her again.
She wanted to shriek and wince in pain, but Karina was just outside in her living room. A few times breathing in and out somehow helps Winter to calm down and lessen the pain on her hand.
She walks back to the living room like nothing ever happened.
"I'm back!"
"Welcome back", Karina chuckled looking at how cute Winter walking towards her.
"Okay, so you hold this guitar. You know how to hold 'em, right?", Winter asked as she handed the guitar to Karina, somehow kneeling right in front of the taller girl.
"I guess, I do? Just hold it like every people did?", Karina grinned awkwardly, holding the guitar inside her grips, but Winter was still there, kneeling in front of her.
"So, we'll start with A minor. Is it okay with you?", Winter asked, still in the same position. Karina couldn't help but blush from this weird seating. Winter kneeling in front of her almost like WInter trying to propose to her or something.
"I guess I can try?", Karina answered shyly with her head down.
"Great! So your finger should be on this fret...", Winter said as she held Karina's hand onto the fretboards, placing the girl's finger onto the right fret. "Yes, there. Perfect", Winter nodded her head happily before she turned her gaze towards Karina again.
"You are red", Winter finally realized it.
"A-Am I?", Karina scoffed playfully, trying her best to hide the embarrassment from coming.
"Yup. Red, but cute", Winter's words almost make Karina choke. "Now, try strumming the strings", Winter instructed and Karina slowly strummed the six strings altogether, creating a melody that Winter told her, was supposed to be the A minor.
"You did great!", WInter cheered happily with her smile.
"It's just a strum, Winter. I am not that great", Karina answered back with her little laughs.
"Nah. I bet you'll be a fast learner. Now, we're moving to G major and D major", Winter said excitedly as she fixed Karina's fingers on position. Despite watching where Winter had placed her finger on the fretboard, Karina's eyes were stucked on the girl's beautiful face in front of her right now.
They are so close that Karina's stomach is twisted by itself.
Has anyone told her how beautiful she is up close?
"Karina?"
Has anyone told her how her laughs and smiles could bring joy out of anyone?
"Karina?"
Has anyone told her how ethereal she looks when—
Karina's deep thoughts were disturbed the moment WInter suddenly placed both her palms on Karina's cheeks, bringing their face closer to each other.
"Are you even listening to what I'm saying?", Winter asked with her brows furrows cutely.
"H-Huh?"
"You are not listening to what I'm saying!", Winter pouts. "Please focus on what I'm teaching you right now, yeah?", she continued.
This is so close.
"Y-Yeah... I'm sorry. Where are we again?", Karina stuttered with her words and Winter seemed unbothered by her question when she saw the taller girl still red on both her cheeks.
"Are you having a fever?", Winter asked before she placed one of her palms on Karina's forehead. "You're not having a fever. Then, why did you become so red?", WInter's palms were back on both Karina's cheeks.
Karina felt like her tongue was glued. She can't talk nor give Winter any answer. Thus, Winter just pulled the taller girl's face closer to her, examining them with her eyes.
"Is it because of me?"
"H-Huh??"
"Am I the reason for you to be this red?"
"H-Huh???"
Knowing how messed up Karina was, Winter could only guess that she was the reason Karina became this red. With a tiny chuckle escaping her mouth, Winter slowly let go of Karina's face from her hands.
"Did you secretly liking me, Karina?", a brave question that came out from Winter's mouth somehow succeeded in stopping the blood from flowing through Karina's body.
"H-Huh?????"
