5% Hesitant

A month had gone by in the semester and the students were excited as they progressed. Toshinori looked out his window in the class room and watched the leaves fall. He loved all seasons, but Autumn felt unique in a way.

Sachi stared vacantly at the chalkboard, right behind the teachers head. She wanted to get this last semester over with. Be done with all of this and move on as a hero.

Herrick was bent over his desk, looking at his phone, and scribbling things down in a notebook. The tall blonde sighed and rubbed his face then looked to the clock. Thankfully it was Friday.

Soon the bell rang and everyone rushed out quickly as they yelled and cheered. The five friends headed towards the exit as they grinned. "What should we do?" Toshi asked with a bright smile.

"Something insanely fun after all that boring hoo-ha." Sachi pouted.

"Like what?" he asked as he smiled a little and looked at her, she shrugged in response.

Herrick stuffed his notebook into his backpack. "I don't know."

"We have to do something fun." Render smiled as they walked towards the city.

Sachi thought as they walked. "We could... Go to the.... Ice skating rink?"

"OOH! Yes!" Render smiled and grinned at them. "Then we can go shopping!" she squealed.

Sachi's eyes lit up. "Yes!" She smiled and the two girls squealed as the boys sighed.

"So which first?" The girl with butterfly wings grinned as she jumped a little with excitement.

Sachi thought, then looked to the boys. "What do you think?"

"Uh.... I don't care." Aizawa said as he shrugged. Toshinori frowned and looked at Herrick.

The other dark haired boy looked at him, and blinked. "What?"

"Shopping or skating first?" The blonde asked as if this would decide their fate.

He stared at him blankly for a moment. "Uh... I guess it depends on what closes first..."

"Someone check!" Render shouted and pulled out her phone. Herrick sighed, and pulled out his phone, half heartedly looking it up. Aizawa just watched them boredly.

"Skating first!" Render shouted and the girls grabbed the boy's arms and ran off. Render holding on to Aizawa and Herrick, the latter tumbled after her, and held onto his stuff tightly

They got to the rink and quickly got skates before going onto the ice. Which was more of a small lake with a building around it. Render was graceful and seemed to be a pro, while Aizawa just skated with hands in his pockets. Toshi was good enough to skate backwards. Sachi was good, but not very tricky. Herrick... Well, he cheated, and used his quirk to move.

Toshi skated around for a bit then went over to Sachi. "How you doing?" he grinned as he spun a little.

She smiled. "I'm good, though you seem better." She poked him playfully.

He chuckled and gently gripped her hands in his. "Just hold on." he said and kissed her before skating backwards as he gripped her hands. She laughed, and held on tight, a small blush on her face. He smiled as he gently gripped one hand, letting the other go as he skated by her side.

She smiled up at him. "You're gonna have to teach me how to do that one of these days."

"Do what?" he asked as he looked at her.

"To skate backwards of course!"

"Oh that's easy." he said and moved behind her. He gently gripped her hands as he stood behind her and held them out a little. "You just relax and let go." he whispered and started to skate backwards. She tried to do the same, but was wobbly, and unsteady.

He moved his hands to her waist, making sure to keep his actions in a gentleman manner. He carefully pulled her close and kissed her cheek. "Relax, Sachi..." he whispered.

She blushed. "That doesn't actually help." But she did try to relax.

"Oh well I was thinking it would." he shrugged and moved back then went to her side.

She pouted, and looked up at him. "Well that you did achieve." She kissed him.

He slowly stopped and smiled a little as he kissed her back. "In coming!" Render screamed and he looked up as a fireball headed towards them.

He quickly shoved Sachi out of the way before it hit by his feet and sent him flying a little. He grunted as he landed and glared at Endeavor and his bully friends. Sachi screamed, and fell to the ice.

"Get off the ice, it's our turn." The red haired boy smirked.

Herrick made his way over, and stared coldly at Endeavor, a ghost of a smile on his face. "Fine, c'mon guys, lets go. It closes soon anyways."

"You really think you can fight me?" Endeavor asked as he narrowed his eyes. Aizawa grabbed Renders hand and they went to Sachi.

Herrick raised an eyebrow. "That's not what I said. I said That we would leave."

Endeavor narrowed his eyes as he watched him and the bullies huffed in frustration. Toshi rubbed his head and got up then made his way to the others. The flaming boy smirked and hit the ice under the blondes feet, melting it. Toshi yelled as he fell through the ice and held on. It was about ten feet deep of ice they skated on, of course now some of it was water.

Herrick scowled at Endeavor, and helped Toshi up, ushering his friends off the ice. He looked back at the group of boys, and smiled slightly.

"Have fun on the ice." He twisted his wrist, and with a great deal of concentration, pulled all the water out of the smaller pond, leaving the skaters on the dirt. He compressed the water, and dropped the jiggly mass into the center of the hole. He laughed, as they headed back into town. The bullies yelled at him as his friends were amazed.

"How did you do that!?" Toshi asked as he grinned.

"That was so amazing!" Render squealed.

Herrick grinned, unable to hold it back. He pulled out his water bottle. "I told ya I was training this summer." He took a large drink.

"That's so awesome!" Toshi grinned as he jumped in the air. They asked him questions and talked about how awesome he was as they went to the mall. He stared at the ground, blushing at the praise, and would mumble an occasional answer. They were so supportive.

"So... Which shop should we go too?" Sachi asked after a while.

"I don't know yet." Toshi said as they went into the indoor mall and looked around. Herrick looked around, and took another long drink. Slightly dehydrated from using so much of his quirk. Render grabbed their arms and dragged them to the art store as she rambled on about different things to explore.

They did a lot of browsing and smiled to each other as they window shopped and pointed things out. Herrick looked around the art shop with a mild interest, while Sachi looked at all the different colors. The girl with butterfly wings looked around happily and after a while she took them to the music store. She touched a piano then started to play a song. Sachi hummed along with Renders playing, Herrick gently touched the different instruments, reading about there use, and all that.

Render smiled as she played and Sachi noticed Aizawa was impressed, but trying to hide it, he'd never admit anything. Knowing Render wouldn't let him live it down. When she finished she tapped a violin and started to play a song that was heart felt and moving.

Sachi watched Aizawa for a moment, before walking up to him. "Somebody has a crush." She teased. He blushed deeply and looked at her then muttered something as he shrunk in his jacket.

She smiled. "Have you told her yet?"

"No...." he muttered. "Look at her... she's so talented and... colorful.... I'm tired... boring and... black and gray... we're literal opposites..." he said quietly.

She frowned. "Haven't you heard of 'opposites attract'? Besides, you might be surprised by what she says."

"No I have... I just..." he muttered and shoved his hands in his pockets as he looked down.

She pouted slightly. "Hey... Just give it a try. Or you'll be thinking about the 'what if?' forever. Who knows when we'll even see each other again?"

"Well we have all year... but I know what you mean..." he said and looked at her.

"Just don't hesitate too long. Waiting for the right time never works. You just gotta... Do it." The pink and blue haired girl smiled a little.

"I'll try..." he muttered and he looked to the girl as she finished her song. She squealed and put it away then headed out with them. Sachi walked in step with Toshi. Herrick continued to drink from his water bottle. The pond had taken a lot more than he had thought.

They spent a few hours there and talked before they suddenly heard shooting and screaming. Toshi looked around as the crowd started to run. A gang of villains shot the air and told everyone to freeze. Sachi's eyes widened then she looked at Toshi, and shook her head slightly, knowing he'd want to stop them.

He clenched his fists tightly and stepped towards them but stopped. The villains spread out through the mall and sealed off the exits. Toshinori gripped her hand and rushed towards one of the doors that led outside, a villain already near it. The others following close behind, not wanting to get separated. Sachi frowned worriedly, but focused on the villain, using her quirk to flood his mind with dopamine.

The man was confused as to why he was smiling so much. Toshinori led his friends towards an exit but stopped as he saw people hiding in fear as a villain approached the family. He hesitated and they knew what he was going to do. It seemed to happen in slow motion. Render told him to stop just as he let go of Sachi. He started running towards the villains as fast as he could. Render looked towards the exit and saw it was blocked. They couldn't leave. Toshinori ran towards the villain and picked up a bat from the displays by a store. Without thinking he hit the man hard in the back and watched as he went down.

"Come on!" He shouted and held his hand out to the frightened people. Sachi watched, her eyes wide with fear.

Herrick rushed after him. "C'mon guys!" He called to the others.

Render and Aizawa hesitated before looking at Sachi and going to help. Toshinori made sure they were safe then ran further into the mall to save others. "Are you crazy?!" Render yelled as she paled.

"I guess I am!" The blonde shouted back as he ran faster. He felt the need to help people and save them from this. Sachi ran around, trying to distract the bad guys, and Herrick was putting them in jello cubes.

Toshi ran with her and Aizawa ran with Render as they tried to stay together. The leader of the gang caused a massive panic attack and people ran around. The group was quickly separated but tried to hold on to each other as they were pushed around.

"Sachi!" Toshi shouted as he held on to her hand but was dragged away by the crowd. The students all found themselves in different parts of the mall as the smaller gangs contained them, keeping people in check.

Sachi looked around, eyes wide, she tried to keep an eye on them all. Herrick frowned deeply, he was still recovering from the pond prank. He had to be smart about this and was mentally punishing himself for being careless. Toshi looked around at the group he was with and looked around for Sachi. They were all in different groups and led to parts of the mall where they wouldn't be able to get help from each other.

A few men kept an eye on each group as the main gang stayed in the center. The leader was planning a few things and was using more well know people as leverage. He had sent the nobodies to the small groups. Sachi looked around fearfully as she realized they were in trouble.

They heard a crash at the main entrance and cheered as they saw the heroes. Herrick was relieved, He had tried to incapacitate them, and was glad for the coming help. They would be safe soon enough.

Sachi took a deep breath, and stood tall, she couldn't see the heroes from where she was. She trembled slightly, but she had to help these people. Like Toshi would. "Stop! D-Don't hurt these people. I-I will stop you, if I have to." she cried, trying to be brave like her friends.

The villains looked at her as they grabbed one child by the hair, trying to separate children from anyone else. They stared at her and aimed their guns or quirks at her. "And what are you going to do about it?" one growled.

She swallowed nervously. "I-I'm going to stop you."

"Ya right." one scoffed as he watched her and the others laughed. The children cried as they were separated from their parents.

She took a shaky step forward. "I-I said, leave them alone."

Toshinori was with one group and he smiled more as the pros got to his group. He looked around then rushed off to find his friends. He wanted to help them now, and felt a surge of confidence fill his heart. He grinned more as he ran to the others. Toshinori looked around and saw Herrick then went over as his group was freed.

"Do you know where Sachi and the others are?" he asked and scanned the area, looking for her and hoping she was close by.

Herrick thought a moment. "I think I saw her upstairs." he commented then looked to his tall friend. Toshinori nodded and ran towards the stairs as he continued to look around for her, the dark haired boy followed him.

One of the villains looked at her as another kept the smaller groups separated. "Back off girl." he growled in warning.

She shook her head. "Leave the kids alone, and then I will."

"You aren't a threat." he said and shoved her into the crowd. Sachi stumbled, and stood again. triggering her quirk. She rushed forward to get the kids out of danger.

The man started to smile uncontrollably and seemed confused. "What is this?" he asked as he tried to fight her but didn't feel like it at the same time. He was happy and had energy to do something else. The other villains blinked in surprise and rushed forward.

Sachi quickly helped the kids back to their parents, and turned on the other bad dudes, her quirk straining, as she tried to get them all at once. The villains struggled to fight as their brains were overloaded. She saw some Pro heroes making their way to her, they seemed new though and she didn't recognize them.

She felt a sense of relief flood over her. She waved them over. "Over here!" She called, letting her guard down.

Toshi heard her shout and ran towards her, he was still a level below and had to go up more stairs. Herrick was right behind him. They glanced to the heroes and smiled in relief. The new pro heroes looked at her then looked further where the main fight was.

"Please, I need help! M-My quirk won't hold them off for long!" She pleaded with them. Toshinori frowned and stopped to look to the heroes. Why did they hesitate? He glanced to Herrick and kept running to her. The heroes said something to each other and saw she had help coming before they quickly left.

"We have to take care of the main threat." one said and they took off. The villains were overcoming their stun and looked at her then at the heroes as they rushed off.

"It's just us now. No one will help you." the lead villain sneered.

Her eyes widened, and she watched the heroes leave. She looked to the villains, and clenched her fists, raising them to the level of her face. "Then I'll just have to stop you myself." She tried to be brave. Like Toshi.

The said blonde teen ran faster and clenched his fists as tears filled his eyes. He reached for the next flight of stairs. He had to get to her. Why didn't the heroes help her? All heroes helped people in need. Didn't they?

"We don't have time for you." The man said and cocked his head as he aimed his gun at her. Sachi's eyes widened and she gasped. He fired and shot her near the heart while another villain used wind to shove her body to the side.

Toshinori froze when he heard the shot and his heart stopped. He heard the rush of wind and saw her plummet over the side. His eyes widened in horror as he rushed to the side and tried to grab her. "Sachi!" he screamed as tears fell down his face. "Sachi!" he cried out again and watched as she hit the ground below. "No!" he yelled and rushed down.

Herricks, eyes widened, Then narrowed dangerously. He ran up the last few flights of stairs. He glared darkly at the men in front of him. "You... Are so dead."

"Oh ya? And what are you going to do about it punk?" The one that shot her scoffed.

Toshinori jumped the last bit of stairs and didn't care as he twisted his ankle horribly. He limped over to her as the pain in his heart outgrew the pain in his leg. He knelt by her and picked her up then held her close. "Sachi? Sachi speak to me." he begged. Sachi was limp in his arms, the blood staining her shirt. Her breathe was shallow. But her eyes didn't open.

Herrick could sense the water around him, something he'd not been able to do before. he could feel it in the pipes in the walls, and in the people around him. A smile grew on his face. "Whatever I want." he sneered.

"Sachi?" Toshi whispered and held her close then took his jacket off and pressed it to her wound. "Sachi please." he begged as he held her and gently stroked her cheek. Tears fell down his face as he hugged her close. "Sachi..." he rasped then buried his face in her as he sobbed. He faced the ceiling as his heart broke and he screamed in agony.

The men growled then the leader who shot her smirked. They pause and heard the heart broken cry of Toshinori. Some of the captives covered their mouths as tears filled their eyes. It was a sad and broken sound.
