Toshi lay on his bed in his small apartment as he listened to the silence. He felt alone again. He was always alone here and he didn't like how he was becoming used to it. His brother had sent him here for school. He wanted to go back, but felt he couldn't. He jumped suddenly as his phone began to ring on the table next to him.
He slowly looked at it, debating on whether or not he should pick up, and after a moment he answered the phone. "Hello?" he asked quietly.
"Hey, Toshi, It's me, Sachi. I am so sorry about bailing on our date night! I got the job, and they needed me there for training, and I'm so sorry!"
"Hey hey hey, it's alright." He said quietly as he sat up and winced. "You don't have to feel bad about it." He smiled, glad to hear from her.
"I know but... I was so excited. Do... Do you still want too? I mean, we don't have to if you don't want to." She said and bit her lip nervously.
"What? No no no of course I want to." He said quickly as he blushed a little. "W... what are you doing right now?" He asked
She smiled. "Nothing much. I just got off work. What about you?"
"Just... nothing actually." He laughed. "Can I come pick you up in ten minutes?" He asked
She grinned. "Of course! I'll be in front of Dave's Hibachi grill."
"I'll see you then." he promised and said goodbye before hanging up. She grinned, and went to her workplace bathroom to make sure she looked good. Once she was ready and looked how she wanted, she went outside and waited patiently for him.
Toshinori got ready and made sure his bandages weren't falling off. He then got ready and rushed off. He soon came up and rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Sorry." he smiled nervously.
Sachi shook her head. "It's fine, but... What happened?" She asked, a concerned look on her face, as she walked up to him.
"What do you mean?" he asked with confusion as he watched her approach. Was there something on his face?
She hesitantly reached up, and touched his bandages. "I mean this." She said quietly.
"Oh... that... ya I've been training really hard so I can... be better." he smiled nervously and rubbed his head again.
She smiled. "Well, don't hurt yourself too much."
"I'm not trying to... I just... I need to be that hero..." he muttered. "The one I dream about being... so I have to train hard." he admitted.
She smiled. "I know you need to be a hero. But if you work too hard, then you'll hurt yourself, and won't be able to help anyone. I'm just saying. Be careful."
"Ya that's true." he blushed and cleared his throat. "You ready?" he asked wanting to move on from the subject.
She grinned, and nodded. "Of course! A hero has to be ready for anything."
He laughed and shook his head. "No are you ready for our date." he chuckled, wondering why they were still talking about this.
She laughed, and bumped into his shoulder. "That's what I meant."
"Oh." he blushed deeply and mumbled to himself as he held his arm out to her. She smiled, and took his arm as she looked up at him. He led her into the restaurant and they got a table. He sat across from her and smiled a little.
She looked at her menu. "So... What do you want to talk about?"
"Oh... uh.... um... how have you been?" he asked as he looked at her and smiled nervously. "I've been training and stuff but uh... that's it." he chuckled. He realized his life was so boring.
She thought a moment, sipping on her drink. "I've been pretty good. Work has been keeping me busy, but they pay really well."
"That's good. Where did you say you worked?" he asked as he set the menu down, already knowing what he wanted.
"Oh... I work at the McDonald's down the street from Daves hibachi grill."
"Oh the new American restaurant?" he smiled. "How is it? Do you like it?" he inquired as he thought about the place.
She shrugged. "It's okay, the food is interesting, and the people are nice."
"Well that's good on both parts." he said and watched her. "How's your family?" he asked.
"They're good for now. My sisters getting good grades in summer school, my mom got a new job as a secretary, and my Dad got a promotion at the bank."
"That's amazing." he smiled brightly and looked to the waitress as she came. She flirted with Toshi then took their order and left. He was oblivious to her flirting and attempts. Sachi's smile staled slightly as the waitress did her job. she noticed all the unnecessary hair flips, and little things like that. She was very beautiful too.
Toshi looked at his date and furrowed his brow. "You okay?" he asked, wondering what he did to upset her.
She turned her attention back to the tall man for a moment. "Oh yeah, I'm fine." She looked back at the waitress.
She was so much better looking then her. What if he ended up liking her more? He stared at her and followed her gaze then furrowed his brow before looking at her again. She frowned slightly, and looked at the table. Why did he like her? She wasn't pretty. Did... Did he even like her? Was he just hanging around because she had a crush?
He noticed she seemed distressed and looked to the waitress then at her. He frowned and gripped her hand then leaned over the table and kissed her. "I only have eyes for you." he whispered then got up and moved to her side of the booth and sat with her. He gripped her hand again and gently kissed it.
She blushed deeply, and snuggled into him. "And I only see you." She whispered quietly. He put his arm around her and hugged her close then gently kissed her. She giggled, and hesitantly kissed him back.
He set a hand on her cheek as he held her close and the waitress came back with their water. He looked at her with his arm still around his date. "Please get this wonderful, beautiful woman whatever she wants." he said. The waitress huffed and took their order before leaving.
She blushed at the compliment, and was secretly pleased by the waitress's frustration. He looked at her and kissed he nose then rested his head against hers.
She reached up, and twirled her finger in his bangs. "I'm glad we finally did this."
"Ya... I'm sorry it took so long." he sighed, slightly irritated with himself.
She shook her head gently. "It's not just your fault. Not everything's your fault you know. You apologize so much, I wonder if you're going to tell the criminals you're sorry while you punch them in the face." She teased.
He laughed loudly and hugged her close. "I don't know, I might. Endeavor says I should apologize for things, and some say I should apologize for existing. Mom said-" he stopped suddenly and looked off to the side. She realized he never spoke about his family.
She frowned slightly. "...Mom said... What?" She asked quietly, feeling he needed to talk.
"She... said... I could do anything... that I shouldn't apologize for things that aren't my fault..." he muttered and put his hands in his lap.
She gently made him look at her. "She's right you know. You really shouldn't apologize for things that you didn't do. And... Apologizing for existing is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It's like asking Endeavor to apologize for having red hair, or asking Aizawa to apologize for being tired. It just doesn't make sense. Heroes stand up for others. And that should include yourself."
He chuckled softly and looked at her as tears filled his eyes. "Thanks..." he whispered and looked to the ceiling to control his emotions. "M... my dad... always told me... that heroes don't cry..." he choked and tried to smile. "He encouraged me to follow my dreams..." he rasped as his voice started to fade.
She rubbed his back gently. "Well, good thing we're not heroes yet." She said quietly. He half laughed and half sobbed as he hung his head and nodded. She hugged him tightly, wanting to make him happy.
He stared at his hands as tears fell down his face. "I... I've never opened up... to anyone..." he admitted quietly.
She blinked slowly. "Well.... I'm here... If you ever need to talk.... or have someone just listen to you." she said sincerely.
"Thank you..." he choked and wiped his tears away as he looked at her. "I.... I'm alone..." he rasped. "My parents are dead... and my brother blames me for what happened... he sent me here to go to school and to... just get rid of me..."
Her eyes widened and she hugged him tightly. "Toshi I... I don't... I... I'm so sorry...."
"No one knows... I don't talk about it... they died the summer before I started UA...." he choked and leaned into her. She rubbed his back gently, just listening. There wasn't really anything she could say anyways.
"Okay Aizawa knows..." he muttered as he stared at his hands and his tears fell. "It... hurts... when... people say I'm nothing..." he whispered. "I feel so empty..." he said and gripped his heart.
She pulled away, and cupped his face in her hands. "Prove them wrong. I know you are something, prove them wrong. You are exactly who you need to be. You don't have to be empty..." She bit her lip, and took her hand in his. "I-If you want... I... I could help fill the emptiness."
"Fill it?" He asked as he looked at her and tears fell down his face. "How?" He rasped as he kept gripping his shirt.
She bit her lip again. "Well... I... I really like you!" She blurted out, her eyes squeezed shut.
He blinked in surprise and made a small gasping noise. He sat up and looked at her as he blushed deeply. "I... I like you too." He whispered.
She looked up at him shyly. "Sometimes... Being with people who love you... Can help fill the gap left by those who have left us." She said gently. He stared at her for a few minutes and he started to cry again. He hugged her tightly and thanked her repeatedly, and she hugged him just as tightly.
He calmed down just as dinner arrived and thanked the woman. He sighed shakily started to eat. Going silent. Sachi ate her food, and would glance at Toshi every once in a while, concerned about his well-being. He gently gripped her hand but didn't say anything as he ate quietly. She smiled and rubbed his hand with her thumb, letting him know she was there.
After dinner he walked with her down the moonlit street, just enjoying her company. She held onto his hand, and looked up at the sky, taking in it's beauty. He went to the ocean and they walked the beach, he was still thinking about their conversation. She looked out onto the water as she enjoyed the silence and every moment with him.
"Anything else you want to do?" he asked curiously. "I have plans but still." he muttered as he worried about her getting bored.
She shrugged. "Whatever you want to do." She said.
"Okay." he smiled and gripped her hand then ran off. She stumbled after him, laughing.
He chuckled as he led her to a dock which went out to the ocean and had a gazebo at the end. He let go and smiled as they sat there. "Now you're on the edge of the world." he laughed gently.
She grinned, and leaned past the railing, breathing in deep. "I love it."
He chuckled and stood on the railing then leaned out as he held on to the two posts with either hands. "I'm on top of the world!" he shouted. She laughed, and climbed onto the railing, balancing precariously on the edge.
He smiled and looked at her then at the waves below them. He grinned at her as the moonlight danced in her eyes. He looked to the horizon again. "I love Sachi!" he shouted as loud as he could.
She blushed deeply. "I LOVE TOSHINORI THE NUMBER ONE HERO!!!!!" She screamed into the night as her voice sailed across the waves.
He blushed in turn and looked at her for a moment as their voices echoed through the night. "Number one hero?" he asked quietly.
She looked down at him, and sat on the railing. "Yes. I expect nothing less from someone who trains so hard."
He was silent and sat by her for a few minutes as he thought. "I don't want to be famous." he said and gripped her hands in both of his. "I just want to help people."
She smiled, and bumped into his shoulder. "That's why you'll be number one."
"I'm confused as to how this works." he admitted and furrowed his brow.
She pouted as she thought. "I'm not entirely sure either. But... I think because you care about everyone then everyone will like you."
"Well... I just want to save people... and give everyone a place where they can smile and not be afraid." he said seriously, and she knew it was from his heart.
"That's what I like about you." She giggled, and leaned in kissing him gently. He smiled and gently gripped her face as he kissed her. She twirled his hair around her fingers, loving how soft it was. He continued to kiss her then they just sat there before he walked her home. He kissed her goodnight and went to his own home. He lay in bed and smiled brightly at the ceiling as his heart flew. He didn't feel empty. She hugged her pillow tightly, and sighed with content. She couldn't stop smiling.
The next day Toshinori smiled even though he was training and it annoyed some of the others. Throughout the summer they continued their relationship and grew closer. Soon it was time for school and they smiled as they held hands and entered the building. Sachi smiled brightly, It was more genuine than usual, and she literally couldn't stop. Herrick looked at them both as they entered.
"Hi Herrick!" Toshinori grinned as he waved with his whole arm at his friend.
Herrick waved, and walked over to them, taking a drink. "Hello you two."
"How was your summer?" The tall blonde asked as he watched him as he held Sachi's hand.
He shrugged. "It was rather good. I worked on my quirk. Look what I can do now!" His face lit up, as he pulled some water from his bottle. He brought his hands closer together, and the water became a cube, he then handed it to Toshi.
"Wow!" he shouted and held his hands under it to catch it. "That's so amazing." he grinned, the water bounced in his hand, a lot like jello. "Wow!" The tall blonde yelled and grinned more as he made it dance in his hands. Herrick smiled, and Sachi watched with awe.
"This is so cool." he said as he looked at the black haired boy, his eyes sparkled with childlike wonder.
Herrick grinned. "Thanks." He mumbled.
The bell rang and the tall teen gave the cube back before grabbing the cotton candy haired girl's hand, and rushing off. Herrick walked into the class quietly, smiling to himself.
"I think he's gotten really good!" Sachi said and looked at her friend as they held hands.
"Ya me too." Toshinori grinned and looked at her then at Aizawa, he and Render seemed to be keeping to themselves.
Sachi looked between him, and the other two. "Should we go talk to them?"
"Nah... class is starting." he said and looked at her then at the teacher. She nodded, and walked into class.
They sat down and went through class before it was time for lunch and they sat with each other. Herrick played around with the water absentmindedly, Render and Aizawa came to sit at their table with them.
Sachi sat next to Toshinori, and across from Render. "Hey you two! How was summer?"
"It was good." She said and smiled brightly. "How about yours?"
She grinned. "It. was. AMAZING!!"
"Oh I can tell." she smiled at them as Aizawa quietly ate his food.
She blushed slightly. "Well... It was. I mean. I earned a lot of money from my job, and... Got to spend time with some friends."
"Oh honey I know you and Toshi spent a lot of time together." she winked. The girls were close friends and told each other a lot.
She blushed. "Well what about you and Aizawa?"
"Well...." she smirked at the boy who wasn't looking at them and blushing a little. "We hung out." she said
She smirked. "Oooh! Tell me everything." She teased.
"I'll save Aizawa the embarrassment and tell you later." she promised.
"We aren't dating." he said too quickly.
"I never said that." she smirked and he blushed more, making Sachi laugh happily.
Render led her somewhere else so they could gossip and giggle. Aizawa wanted to be in a relationship with her, but wanted to keep it secret. Herrick watched them go, he frowned slightly, feeling... left out. He didn't like that, but said nothing.
Toshinori smiled and looked at him then his smile faded a little, seeing how he was a bit down. "So what else can you do with your powers?" he asked his friend.
He shrugged. "I'm not sure yet. I'm still working on it." Herrick said as he continued to play with the water.
"Can you do other liquids?" Aizawa asked suddenly, hoping the distraction would get their minds off himself.
He thought a moment. "I... I'm not sure." He looked over, and started playing with a random kids soup. Making it hop out of the bowl, and jump around the table.
"Sweet." Toshi grinned and looked at him. "I bet you can do so much with different liquids." he said, trying to encourage his friend. The black haired boy thought about it, new possibilities opening before his very eyes.
Toshi laughed quietly and set a hand on his shoulder. "You have a lot of potential." he smiled brightly. "Don't limit yourself friend." he grinned.
He smiled. "Thanks. Same goes with you."
"I won't." he promised and looked to Aizawa. The tired young man shrugged and went back to eating. Herrick stayed deep in thought as he pondered his words. The girls came back and the group laughed together as Render changed everyone's hair and clothes.
Sachi laughed, at the polka dot shirt she now had, Aizawa grumbled about his now black outfit, but secretly liked it. Toshi smiled at his now green hair and grinned when it turned brown. Render laughed with them and put their colors back as the bell ran.
Sachi stood abruptly. "Quick, we gotta go!" She said as she ran to class. Herrick came out of his thoughts, and followed after them. Toshinori laughed as he ran after him and the others, they got to the room and the students sat down quietly, waiting for the teacher to come in.
