It's All in the Fist
"Hey, Jacob. Long time no see," I said, a big grin plastered on my face.
Jacob smiled in return, "Yeah, it's been a few years. I'm glad to see you're doing well."
"Thanks. I'm glad to see you're doing good to, and sorry for bumping into you. I seem to have a problem with that recently," I explained. He laughed and turned to Hannah.
"Mind introducing me to your friend?" He asked, nodding to her.
"Ah. This is Hannah, one of my new friend here," I explained. "Hannah this and old friend of mine from my old school. He moved about a year before me." She nodded in understanding.
"Well nice to meet you Jacob." She said, with a smile. He smiled back and then turned his gaze back to me.
"It's nice seein-" He got cut off when Mikkel came running around the corner.
"Lianna?!" He calmed down when he saw I was completely fine. "Oh thank god. I saw you fall when you went around the corner, you are alright. Right?"
I laughed. "Yeah, I'm fine! I just bumped into an old friend. Literally." He laughed at the joke.
"You seem to have a problem with that.", he teased. I rolled my eyes. "Anyhow. Who's this?" He asked, looking over at Jacob.
"Oh that's Jacob and old friend of mine," I explained. Mikkel nodded and held out his hand for Jacob to shake it. Jacob took his hand and shook it. "Jacob meet Mikkel. Mikkel meet Jacob." The two shook hands with a friendly smile, but I noticed a disturbing glint of competitiveness in both of the young men's eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if Mikkel actually does like me, I thought making a mental note to myself making sure to be careful putting these two in the same room.
"I have to get to my biology class. I'll see you guys later.", Jacob waved as he began walking past us. Mikkel stared after him with distaste. Ooohhh, boy. This isn't gonna work, I complained to myself.
"We should probably get to our classes before the teachers go insane.", Michael suggested.
I nodded. "Good idea. See you later then." I turned and began to walk off. I heard his footsteps behind me, and sighed when he was out of hearing distance. Hannah walked up next to me and smirked.
"Sooo, what's that boy to you? He seems pretty fond of you", she said with a raised eyebrow.
I looked at her confused. "He's just an old friend. I've known him since elementary school, there's nothing more than that."
She laughed. "Sure...." I narrowed my eyes.
"What do you mean..?" I asked.
"Oh nothing. Let's just get to class." She said, taking of running down the hall. I yelled after her, and then took off running myself, laughing all the way down the hallway.

It's funny how you meet someone by accident then they become one of the biggest part of your life. That's basically what happened with Mikkel. Over the next few weeks Mikkel and I grew close. We exchanged phone numbers, texted all night. Helped each other with assignments, etc., etc. Scarlet kept desperately trying to get Mikkel to like her. Hannah started actually dating Logan and Jacob became more flirtatious with me. My world was spinning in circles as it was a constant battle over me and Mikkel. Things went bad to worse as my sixth week rolled around.
Mikkel showed up to Language Arts with several bruises and a black eye that Wednesday. He sat down next to me and mumbled, "Don't ask." I frowned and turned to my homework. Most of the answers were right, but there were certain questions I had trouble with. The teacher came around and collected the sheets of yellow paper she had given us to do for homework. Personally, I think yellow is the worst color to use on a worksheet. It's hard to concentrate with a bright color that easily distracts me. I glanced at Mikkel and shook my head. Something happened and I was going to find out.
"Okay, class. Today we're going to learn about Shakespeare.", Mrs. Synfield announced. There were several groans and a few delighted reactions. I knew nothing of Shakespeare. The class continued and the bell rang. As I walked out, Mikkel walked with me down the hall to the next class and departed without a word. One thing that concerned me was that, instead of walking to his normal class, Mikkel was heading for the office. I found a seat in the back and sat there awaiting instructions. Miss Williams sat down at her desk and began writing something in her book. The class sat there patiently. The slim teacher looked up.
"Begin working in page 265 in your math book. Get as much work done as you can.", she said. I grabbed my book and turned to the page she had instructed us to do as did the rest of the class. All except Scarlet. Who was on her phone. I shook my head in distaste. Scarlet is just one of those girls, I thought bitterly to myself.
"Miss Williams?", a voice called on the intercom.
"Yes?", my teacher replied.
"I need Lianna Storm in the front office please.", the woman on the intercom announced. Miss Williams looked at me and nodded. I packed my things and walked towards the office.
I was scared I was in trouble and that I had done something wrong. The hallway had an eerie silence to it. As if the entire school was waiting to see what would happen to Miss Lianna Storm. I reached the office and when I walked in, I saw Mikkel and Jacob.
Jacob had a black eye and bruises all over.
