BLAM!!!
The officer I saw was the first to go down as blood spurted from his leg.
"EVERYONE GET DOWN OR TAKE COVER!!!", Mikkel screamed. There were shouts and screams as people and patients alike were rushing for cover.
"Mikkel! Lianna! Get into Hannah's room!", Logan commanded.
"Never!" came Mikkel's reply, "This isn't go to pass. I'll deal with this guy myself if I have to!"
"Mikkel, no!", I cried. Mikkel waved a dismissive hand at me looked around. Another round was shot and a woman fell to the ground with a bleeding bullet hole in her arm. The rifleman was only ten feet away. This situation could easily be assessed. I ran into the crowd and acted as if I was one of them. Screaming at the top of my lungs, I made my way behind the hospital shooter. Mikkel saw what I was doing and nodded. He picked up a chair and threw it at the man. I think the chair hit his arm.
"Uh-oh", is what I think Mikkel said as the rifleman took aim at him. Mikkel dove behind a desk just a split second before a streaking bullet flew where he had been standing. Luckily the round didn't hit anyone, but it did hit the vase full of flowers. I looked around trying to find something I could pick up and use as a weapon. There was a metal chair, a small pocket knife )most likely dropped by a patient) and a pistol. Here's the thing: The pistol was in a holster on the man's belt. I had no idea how to use a pocket knife, so my two options were the chair or the gun.
There were two scenarios. One for both option. If I hit the man with the chair, he'd most likely shoot someone on the way down. If I somehow managed to get the gun and shoot the weapon, the rifleman would probably use the rifle to knock me out then continue to use the pistol to kill more people. It was a lose-lose situation.
So I went with both.
I snuck up behind him and slowly pulled out the pistol. I swear, the man almost turned around, but was too busy reloading his rifle. I then grabbed the folded up metal chair with one hand. Creeping up behind him, I made sure Mikke wasn't in the line of fire, which he was because he's Mikkel. I reached my arm over the man's shoulder and shot the entire load of bullets at the rifle which I was sure wouldn't work anymore because I had shot it to pieces. I stepped back several paces and swung the chair at our friend the hospital shooter. My right arm was numb from the jolt each bullet that I shot returned to me. I dropped the gun as the man dropped to the ground unconscious
"Everyone! It's over! He's down for now!", I yelled to everyone. Several doctors came out from hiding to inspect the two victims. I walked over to where Mikkel and Logan were kneeling next to the groaning officer.
"Should we call 911?", Logan asked in all seriousness. Mikkel and both looked at him with a "really, dude?" sort of look.
"Why would we call 911 when we're literally in a hospital?", I replied. Logan frowned.
"Oh yeah...", he said. One of the doctors ran over to the officer. I got up and made sure the shooter was out cold. Suddenly, one of the hall doors burst open and four policemen ran in with guns ready to shoot any threat.
"Over here!", I shouted waving my hands. The men in blue noticed me and made their way over to me and the unconscious rifleman.
"What happened?", one of the officers demanded. I explained everything that happened. From me scanning the room and seeing the man with a gun to me knocking the man out and destroying his gun with his other gun.
"What you did was incredibly dangerous, but also incredibly brave. You've probably saved lots of lives by taking control of the situation.", the same cop said. I glowed with pride and nodded my head with a lopsided smile. The officer motioned to the others.
"Take him away.", he said.
"There's an officer behind me that was shot in the leg. He's got two boys and a doctor surrounding him.", I offered pointing my finger in Mikkel's direction. The cop nodded his thanks and began walking towards the wounded official. I've gotta tell Hannah what happened. She'll be worried, I said to myself. Mikkel nodded to me as he saw me walking towards Hannah's room. I walked in and saw her with an extremely worried expression on her face. It was going to be hard telling her what had happened outside of her room.
"What in the world was going on out there?!", she asked fiercely. Here we go again. I began to explain and finished right as Logan and Mikkel walked into the room.
"Logan! You're safe!", Hannah shrieked in excitement. Mikkel pulled this dumbfounded look.
"Sure. Just forget all about me. I might as well have just gotten shot.", Mikkel complained.
"You're not important unless Lia says you are.", Hannah retorted.
"I say he's very important.", I replied. Hannah rolled her eyes and huffed.
"Okay...I guess I'm glad your OK. But my Logan is more important.", Hannah said.
"Good to know.", Mikkel grinned. Mikkel's smiles always made my flutter for some reason. I have a lot more control over it now, but I swear it was a problem then. We sat there chatting for another hour.
Vv vv.
I lifted my phone off the nightstand next to Hannah's bed.
Mom: Lianna, where are you?
Me: Still at the hospital.
Mom: Oh, OK. Dinner will be ready soon. Why don't you bring Logan and Mikkel?
Me: I'm sure Mikkel will be fine with it, but I can't be certain Logan can.
Mom: Okay. Please be home within the next next hour.
Me: Kay. Love you.
Mom: Love you too.
"That was my mom. Anyone wanna come over for dinner?", I asked. Mikkel nodded and Logan said he could as well.
"Oo, can I come? My doctor said I should get out of the hospital for an hour or two so I can get used to my crutches.
"Great!", I replied.
"I'll tell my doctor when she comes in. Logan will stay with me until I can get up and get to the car.
"Sounds good. I'll get the car running and pull it up to the front of this hospital wing.", Mikkel said. Logan wasn't exactly ecstatic about staying and he even offered a protest.
"If you stay I'll kiss you again.", Hannah bribed. Logan considered this and gave in.
"Fine. I'll stay.", he said with a "I give up" tone. We all laughed and Mikkel and I started heading for the car.
