An Exaggerated Problem

Still Bat. >:]

Mikkel gasped, and his eye's widened. "What?! We have to get to the hospital!" I nodded and moved my phone back up to my ear.

"Logan, we're going to come to the hospital. Can you meet us at the front desk?" I asked. I heard Logan gulp from the other end.

"Yeah... Of course. We're at Drensens' Memorial Hospital," he explained.

"Okay, we'll be there soon." I hung up and grabbed my bag, throwing my phone into it. "Mikkel, we're going to Dresens'. Hurry up." He nodded and opened the door, rushing out to my father's car. I grabbed the keys from the table and rushed out after him, slamming the door and locking it.

"I hope your Dad doesn't mind us borrowing his car," Mikkel said as I tossed him the keys. He unlocked the door and sat down in the car.

"He won't." I got into the car and buckled up, just as we pulled out of the driveway. Nothing was said for much of the ride, there were only a few "It'll be okay"s. At one point during the ride, I felt Mikkel grab one of my hands with his free one, squeezing it tightly. We arrived at the hospital after twenty-five minutes of driving and both of us rushed out of the car, nearly tripping over our own feet. Rushing inside, we spotted Logan almost immediately and hurried over to him.

"There you guys are... " He sighed, and looked at us, panicked. Mikkel walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Logan, calm down. Where is she?" Mikkel asked. Logan exhaled, trying to calm himself down. He shifted his feet and sighed again.

"She's on the next floor, her parents are waiting outside the room. She just got out of surgery and she hasn't woken up yet," he explained, finally calming down a bit. Mikkel and I nodded.

"Can we go up there and see her?" I asked. Logan nodded and started to lead the way up the stairs, shaking off Mikkel's hand. We followed after, ascending the steps. Logan walked over to Hannah's parent's who I recognized from the times I had been over her house. I noticed Hannah's parent's immediately from a number of times I had been over at her house, they were standing in front of one of the rooms not moving very much. I also noticed the dry tears on her father's face and the fresh tears on her mother's. Quickly I rushed over, pulling them both into a hug. "Kim, Cameron... I'm so sorry."

Kim sniffed, hugging me back. "It's alright Lianna, it's not your fault." I nodded a bit, giving her a pat on the back. I felt Cameron hug me back as well.

I pulled back and sighed. "Can we see her?" They nodded and moved over to the door in front of them, opening it. I gripped Mikkel's hand, bracing myself for whatever we would see behind the door. I gasped seeing Hannah laying on the bed, she had the IV hooked up to her and a bunch of wires I didn't understand. Dropping Mikkel's hand, I made my way over to the side of her bed. "Oh... Hannah.." I hated seeing her like that, so I turned my head away from her and back to her parent's "Do you know anything about her condition?"

"She's expected to wake up in a day or so, and the injuries from the accident are all expected to heal completely," explained Cameron, wiping his eyes. I nodded, glancing back at Hannah, god she looked so different lying there. I sighed and walked back over to Mikkel, resting my head on his shoulder.

"It'll be alright," he whispered, combing his fingers through my hair.

I lifted my head up and looked him in the eyes, "I know, but I can't help feel bad for Hannah, her parent's and Logan. They don't deserve this." He nodded,

"Why don't we stay here for a little bit and then head home. We'll come visit her when she wakes up," Mikkel suggested, stopping combing my hair. I nodded, removing my head from his shoulder. Mikkel and I took a seat in one of the chairs by Hannah's bed, and sat there talking with Hannah's parent's and Logan.

* * *

We had just made our way out of the hospital and also learned a few things about Hannah's condition. Apparently, she wasn't hurt as bad as Logan had said, and only had a minor broken leg and needed a few stitches on her other leg. She was expected to be fully healed in around 7 weeks, just a few days before prom. So missing prom wasn't going to happen. We also made plans for tomorrow. Logan would call us whenever she woke up, so we would know right away. Instead of skipping school we were going to wait until the end of the day and head straight over to the hospital. Mikkel hopped into the car first and I climbed in right after him, pulling on my seatbelt. "I'm so glad she's going to be okay, especially in time for prom. I know she wouldn't want to miss it."

Mikkel nodded, giving a small smile, "She's very lucky, it could have been way worse." I nodded in agreement and fell silent for the rest of the car ride. It wasn't awkward, though, it was comfortable, especially after the noisy hospital. Pulling into my driveway, I unbuckled and started to get out of the car.

"Bye, see you tomorrow," I told him, almost out of the car completely. I realized I forgot something and climbed back in the car, giving Mikkel a quick kiss on the cheek, before completely getting out of the car. He blushed brightly, and gave me a nervous smile, and wave.

"See you tomorrow, Lianna." He pulled out of the driveway, and I smiled as he disappeared around the corner. I made my way up the stairs and froze with my hand above the doorknob. I never told my parents where I went.. They're probably really worried. Hesitantly I opened the door, to see my parents with relieved expressions.

"Lianna! There you are!" exclaimed my mom, coming up and hugging me tightly. My dad joined in after. "Where were you?" she asked, pulling back from the hug.

"Well..." Then, I explained everything.
