Chapter 12
a little short sorry:/
~~
I was sitting with Ray at the park, watching his daughter run around the play set as I took a sip from my water bottle.
"Hey, man, can I get a drink?" He asked.
I handed it to him and he drank it before spitting it out.
"What the hell, is that straight vodka," he asked.
I shrugged, taking it back.
"I thought you knew," I said.
"No, of course I didn't know," he said.
Valentina ran over, giving Ray a hug before running off to the sandbox.
"She's cute," I said. "I always imagined having a couple of kids with Frank one day. Adopting them would be so easy. Now everything feels so complicated and messed up."
"Everything will sort itself out," he said. "You can't possibly be stuck here forever."
"Don't jinx it, Raymond," I said.
"Wh--Ray isn't short for Raymond, it's just Ray," he said.
"Oh, well, I guess you are different than the other world," I said. "Your full name there is Raymond."
"Gross, weird," he said. "Don't like it. I'm just good ol' Ray."
"I like good ol' Ray," I said. "I'm glad that I have some form of comfort here in this world. I'm glad that i have you."
"And my life has been nothing but interesting since you came along," he said.
"Hopefully it'll still be interesting when I leave again," I said.
"When are you seeing Frank? Isn't he supposed to meet us here?"
"He should be here any minute," I said.
Almost as if on cue Frank walked up and I smiled as we stood up. Ray and Frank smiled, shaking hands. We did our normal greetings before Frank and I left. We went to his house where Frank pulled me up to his bedroom. We sat on the couch and he kissed me gently before pulling away.
"Have you been drinking?" He asked.
"Kids playgrounds are boring," I said with a shrug.
"I don't think that's an appropriate place to drink," he said with a small smile. "Anyways, enough with that. I wanna show you the song I learned to play."
He grabbed his guitar and began playing. It was a familiar melody and I realized it was an older song by the Beatles. I smiled, resting my hand on his knee as he played. He messed up a couple times but looked at me nervously when he finished the song.
"W-was that okay?" He asked.
"You were great, Frankie," I said. "I loved it, it sounded beautiful."
"Thank you," he said. "Especially for lying because I know I messed up a lot."
"No, no, you have a lot of promise," I said. "That's really good considering you've only been playing for, like, a week and a half."
"Thanks, Gee," he said.
Gee. That's what he called me in the other world. I cupped his cheek, leaning forward to kiss him softly. I pulled him close by his shirt, laying down and pulling him over me. Frank held my hips, leaning down to kiss my neck.
The door downstairs opened and Frank pulled away. Two minutes later the door opened and I looked over at Frank's dad.
"Your mom showed me some clips from your last game," he said.
"Really? What'd you think?" Frank asked.
"Could have done better," his dad said before he left.
Frank looked down and I reached over to hold his hand.
"Don't listen to him," I said. "You won, you scored the most points on the team. You did an amazing job. He's just annoying and judgemental, you shouldn't let him control your happiness. You did great, don't listen to him."
"He's always been so controlling," Frank sighed.
"Then why do you try to fit into the mold he's squishing you into?" I asked.
"I have to, Gerard," he said. "You don't understand, I can't just say no to him, he's my dad."
"The Frank I know would get a sick neck tattoo or a piercing just to stick it to his dad," I said, standing up. "You know what, let's do it, let's go get a tattoo."
"No thanks, I'm good," he said.
"Now, that's not the Frank Iero that I know," I said.
"Is this more of your multiverse bullshit?" He asked. "I have always been this way, I am the only Frank Iero. Well, other than my dad and grandpa. But you know what I mean!"
I sighed, running my hand through his hair. Frank looked up at me, his green eyes sparkling. I sat back down, resting my head on his shoulder. I wish he would believe me about being from an alternate reality, that would make things so much easier. Maybe if he believed me then I would get back to my own world so much faster.
But then again, that's probably why he doesn't believe me. He isn't allowed to believe me, otherwise it would be too easy. There's probably some force in his head that doesn't let him believe me. It would be cheating if he knew, it would be way too easy to get transported back.
"I know a lot of what I say doesn't make sense, I'm sorry," I said.
"It's okay, maybe it's just because of the liquor," he said.
I looked at my water bottle and sighed. Was that all I was to him? All he's reduced me to? Just some drunk?
"I don't drink that much," I denied.
"Yeah, okay, if that's what you want to tell yourself," he said.
"I'm serious," I said. "Are we really going to fight about this in this world, too?"
"Again with the multiple world things," he sighed.
"I'm not kidding Frank," I said. "I'm serious when I tell you that I am from a whole different world where everything was different but also really similar."
Frank rolled his eyes.
"I know you can't believe me, the forces in your brain won't let you," I said. "I'm not crazy, I promise. Just ask Ray, he knows all about it."
"So, let me guess, Ray is also from this other dimension?" He asked.
"No," I said. "But I was able to convince him that I was. I knew things about his life that the real me from this world would never possibly know."
"Okay, tell me about me then," he said.
"That's the problem, Ray is virtually the same in this world, the only difference is that he has a kid," I said. "You're...you're so different. Everything about you is different, your family, your status, your personality. Even your appearance. You're so different and that is why it is so hard for you to understand and for me to complete my mission in this world."
"Wow, we have really taken the train to crazy town," Frank muttered.
"I'm serious," I said. "This isn't funny or something for you to make fun of. My life is a disaster, okay? Drinking is the only way for me to cope because my life is a complete and total mess. I am in love with you and I have spent the past month trying to convince you that you were gay because you didn't want to believe it. I put up with you calling me names and beating me up. I even had to put up with stupid a stupid pastel bedroom. I want my basement bedroom back!"
Frank just stared at me and I sighed.
"None of this means anything to you, I know," I said. "I probably do sound crazy. And here I am being a fool trying to get Frank Iero to fall in love with me for a second time. It was lucky enough that I got you for the first time. I don't deserve you."
I looked down before gasping.
"Holy shit," I breathed out. "That's it. That's my lesson. That is my whole god forsaken lesson! It's that I don't deserve you. You were nothing but good to me in the other world and I don't deserve a second chance with you."
I went out into the hall and down the grand staircase before heading out the front door.
"You win, world!" I shouted as Frank followed me out. "What's next? How do I get back?"
I walked through the yard to the street.
"I have learned my lesson now!" I yelled. "I get it! I don't deserve Frank Iero because I am a shitty fucking boyfriend! That's my lesson, huh? I got what I fucking deserved! I get it now! I fucking get it, universe! Just take me back now! Take me--"
I cut myself off when I looked over, a car coming straight at me.
