JOHN'S POV

For the first time in my fake world, I was delighted with myself. I was basking in the glory of finishing a case without breaking a sweat and everything was made easy with Eniola. I heard quick strides of heels and I knew who it was without looking back.

"Great job." Eniola said, patting me on the shoulders slightly.

"I know. I am the best." I said blushing furiously.

We walked to the office, giving each other brief smiles as I was too happy to wonder what would become of Mariam. As soon as I turned the door knob, Kemi jumped in my face holding fries and chicken wings in a bowl. Eniola's face turned to a scrowl as she leaned on the door with a stuttering elegance that looked more stunning than a model on the runway.

"Don't you know that it's unhealthy to give your boss such food at noon? Don't you know it contain so much sugar that would lead to diabetes and a frequent running stomach? He's not hungry. Carry your cheap meal somewhere else." Eniola said, rolling her eyes.

Here we go again

Kemi inhaled deeply before speaking.

"Do you know how many hours he has stayed in the court? Do you know how rigorous it is to sit down to listen and give judgement on a hearing? Do you know that after such exercise, the brain loses glucose that's needed to perform other activities? Do you know that he could faint any moment from now?" Kemi countered.

Eniola placed a hand on my forehead and squeezed her lips in annoyance.

"His body temperature seems perfectly fine. If you are so good at predicting that. Why aren't you in the hospital treating patients that need your gallant help?" Eniola retorted.

I was already tired of the live drama unraveled before me. If I knew Kemi was going to be an easy target. I would have exchanged her with a male secretary, but Eniola would also use him to do irrelevant things.

"Sorry to interrupt your bickering, but I am actually kind of hungry. so Eniola, speak for yourself." I said, grabbing the chicken and chips from a smiling Kemi.

"If you end up farting for five hours straight. Don't say I didn't tell you." Eniola said, settling on her desk.

I ignored her statement and went inside my office not forgetting to lock it.I really didn't want these two women to ruin my silent mode of happiness. I settled in my chair and threw a chicken wing into my mouth. I rolled the fleshy mound into my mouth, enjoying the feel and taste. I noticed Eniola, nodding her head disapprovingly at me through the glass windows and I deliberately tore the flesh of the chicken to piss her off and I was sure it did.

A few minutes, I released a huge belch from my lips. I was extremely satisfied as I patted my stomach. My eyes grew heavy and my hands threw a book off the desk. I picked it up and used it as a pillow. I laid my head on the table, telling myself repeatedly that it was only a nap. I dozed off with the book on my head.

**************************

I woke up to a banging knock as I tried to struggle between consciousness and unconsciousness. I opened my eyes to see Eniola banging the door furiously in a sequential and irritating manner. I wanted to ignore it and continue my beautiful slumber but it grew louder as it casted a light on her that I was awake.

I staggered angrily towards the door and opened it widely.

"Why have you decided to ruin my sleep?" I enquired, staring at her short form.

"How can you sleep for three hours? I was scared that something had happened to you." Eniola said with concern written all over her face.

"It's called a deep sleep. Nothing is wrong with me." I said, rubbing my eyes to remove the black bits that settled in there.

"Alright I'll be at my desk if you need anything." Eniola said smiling

I was elated to get rid of her but I knew it would a temporary one. So I decided to give her an exercise that would last her throughout the day.

"I actually need something. Do you know where Danjuma's case file is?" I asked.

"Of course." Eniola cooed.

Eniola gestured with her fingers for me to leave the path as I was blocking the entrance to my office

What can I say? I am a six foot man.

Eniola walked up to my desk, flipping some spiral bound papers over and handed a nearly hard covered book. I guessed it must be a very important case for the branding of the book is out of this world.I flipped the pages over and looked at it briefly. Then I handed it back wearing a sly smile.

"You do know that as your trainer.I have to give you some exercises that I would evaluate you on." I began, circling her like a predator ready to devour it's prey.

"Of course." Eniola said, still wearing a tremendous smile.

I nodded in approval slightly. I walked over to my seat. I pointed at the book in her hands.

"Then for that case, write a sentencing laced with judgement in view of innocence." I said, placing a hand on my cheek.

"I beg your pardon?" Eniola asked.

"Are you deaf? How can you talk like that or did you forget to wipe your ears clean." I teased, licking my lips.

"It's not that James. I am just wondering if he's really innocent." Eniola said, wearing a straight smile.

Eniola flipped the pages of the book and closed it few seconds later. She held the book up, muttering bits of nonsense that she can't say to my face and inhaled sharply.

"I have read this file. It states that this man beat up his employee to the point of severe injury and he's in the hospital presently. This is not the first time he has aggressively beaten someone and in every legal action against him.He always won." Eniola said, raising a brow.

I scratched the back of my head and stood up from my chair lazily and walked up to her. I dragged the case file from her arms and dropped it noisily on the desk.

"I asked you to do one thing and you are now questioning my authority. I didn't ask you to explain what was in the case file. I wasn't born yesterday Eniola, so do as I say." I yelled , making sure bits of saliva were thrown on her flawless madeup face.

"You are supposed to judge the case with the law and your conscience. You don't even want to reason with the fact that he's not innocent. How can you tell me to write a sentencing in view of innocence for a man that not only once or twice broken the law and got away with it?" Eniola retorted, flaring her arms in the air.

"What a shame. This is your first assignment and you are already blowing it up. I think I made a mistake. You aren't cut out to be a judge at all.Why didn't you settle for a mere lawyer if you are so good at arguing." I snickered, banging the table lightly.

Eniola chuckled coldly. Her eyes were red with anger and I wasn't bothered about it.

"How much did they promise to pay you? Did they promise a new car as usual or a house in banana island?" Eniola teased, stepping closer to me.

"I see. I have given you the audacity to be exchanging words with me. Now I see the reason why I broke with you. You nag too much." I said, smirking.

"Don't bring personal relationships into a work issue. Don't tell me you are still treading on that path of corruption. Haven't you heard of the proverb? One day is for the thief and another day is for the owner." Eniola said, clapping her hands.

"Spare me this nonsense and leave my office." I said, gesturing to the door.

"I am not going anywhere until you listen." Eniola countered, sitting on my desk.

"Kemi!" I screamed.

Kemi came running and looked at I and Eniola feigning denial that she hadn't eavesdropped on our argument that was boiling over to a fight.

"Kemi, what do you think of a trainee that refuses to listen to the trainer." I asked.

Kemi was about to open her lips for words to flow out when Eniola interrupted.

"Kemi, what do you think of men that refuses to listen to the opinion of women." Eniola snorted hissing at me.

Again, Kemi was about to respond but I interrupted with an angry voice.

"Now you are bringing gender into this issue. Why are you so stubborn?" I asked.

Eniola dropped her feets on the ground and began to walk away without responding to my question.

"Now you are walking out on me.You know if I am to evaluate you on attentiveness and the willingness to obey orders. I would rate you with a number less than zero if there was anything like that." I said, pointing at her.

Eniola laughed and spun around to look at me.

"That's fine by me. Make sure you use that authority that is making you run mad. Use it very well to the point that you will have no one to talk to when you are in a psychiatrist hospital eventually." Eniola yelled, bolting the door.

I was completely taken aback by her statement and I banged the desk hard that it shot a pain in my veins. I was completely amazed but it was soon overthrown by shame when Kemi erupted into a big laugh.
