Chapter 35: Family

"That was great!" Mirio shouted as you finished tackling the training session. It's been a bit over a week since you've been training and you've gotten good enough to not need Aizawa present anymore.

"And I didn't feel that much pain this time!" You gave him a high-five and then looked over towards Shoto who was watching by the sidelines this time since it just so happened to be his break and took the chance to see you.

"Tomorrow we'll work on using it in combat since you have better control of it, what do you say?"

"Perfect!"

"By the way, I was going to meet up with Nejire and Tamaki for some ice cream, wanna come with?" He asked all excited as a child would.

"Sure! What do you say Shoto?" You looked towards your boyfriend who just kinda scratch his head.

"My time's up, I've gotta get back to Endeavors agency, maybe next time?" You nodded, understanding that he obviously couldn't be with you 24/7.

"Then I'll see you later Shoto." You reached out to give him a peck on the lips before walking away, waving goodbye to Shoto.

"So what icecream place are we heading to?" You asked as you kicked a pebble on the ground.

"We wanted to go to that new one on-" He stopped mid-sentence and his eyes went wide. You were about to ask what was wrong but the sudden feeling of falling made the words get caught in your throat. The last thing you heard was him calling out your name along with Shoto running towards you in the distance, after that, everything went black.

-

Your head was pounding, as you slowly woke up, blinking a few times to the change in light. It was a bit hard to make out the fuzzy figures but eventually, your vision cleared.

"Looks like she finally woke up." You looked at where the voice came from and you wished you didn't recognize him as the black smoke guy from the attack on USJ.

"She's a lot cuter than I thought!" A girl in the back held a knife in her hand and played with it as if it weren't potentially dangerous.

"Welcome Y/n, I'm glad to see you again." You gulped seeing Tomura emerge from a back door. "What do you say we have a little chat?"

-

"What the hell happened?!" Shoto shouted once he got to Mirio who only stood there in shock.

"I don't know! We were just talking and out of nowhere this black hole appeared under her and she fell through." Mirio tried to look for answers but something In Shoto's mind clicked.

"Wait was it black or black with purple?"

"black with purple, but what does the color matter?!"

"The league of villains..." Only then did Mirio start to understand what was going on.

"We have to inform all Might." Shoto felt his blood run cold at the thought of having to tell him that his niece was taken hostage.

Stressful, was one way to put it. The two boys were rushing around the campus searching for the former number one hero until they heard that he was already on his way home. Mirio and Shoto rushed to catch up and desperately called out o him once they saw his skinny figure near the main entrance.

"Oh, Shoto, Mirio, what brings you here-"

"We have something urgent to inform you..."

-

You glared daggers at the man in front of you. "What's with that look Y/n? I just wanted to have a nice chat with you."

"I don't want anything to do with you lot and I don't want to hear what you have to offer. Hold me hostage or put me through pain, I won't cooperate with you." You declared from the start making the teal haired man raised his eyebrows.

"Strong-willed I see. Must have gotten that from your uncle. Well," He stood up from his chair and walked a little ways away. "If you won't listen to me, maybe my friend Kosaku can manage to get through to you, he's a bit more persuasive." Your face scrunched up from confusion but you wouldn't let your guard down.

What does he mean by persuasive?

And right on cue, a tall guy no older than 17? 18? Walked in with a smile on his face. His hair was deep green, it contrasted greatly with his pale skin even with the poor lighting of the room.

"So you're Y/n, nice to meet you." You didn't answer and simply glared. "Not much of a talker huh?" He grabbed one of the seats and let it drag on the wooden floor until it was in front of him and he could sit down. "Tell me, what's it like being the daughter of a number one hero? Not to mention the niece of another number one hero?" You looked away in annoyance. "Come on Y/n don't get so emotional." You scoffed at his choice of words.

"Like I would ever...let, you..." You slowly started to forget what you were about to say, feeling disoriented.

"It must be hard having to live up to the name of such great heroes." He continued. "All the pressure, the obligation to have to be just as great as them." He stood up and walked over to you. "Isn't it hard on you?" You looked at him somewhat confused but answered none the less.

"S-So what?" You were surprised to hear yourself stutter.

What the hell's wrong with me? You tried to think clearly but you couldn't maintain your train of thought. Persuasion... He must have a quirk like Shinso's! You looked back at him as he carefully studied your face. But it shouldn't work anymore since I know he's using it on me right?

"I've had the support of my family and friends!" You raised your voice, trying to give yourself confidence.

"Oh?" He asked as he started circling your seat. Kosaku knew that you were smart and that you realized what he was doing but what you didn't know was that it was too late, you had lost the moment he spoke to you. "And who was there for you when you needed it most? Where was mom? And your dear sister? She was out saving other people but couldn't even save her own sister from the loneliness she felt." You wanted to deny what he was saying so badly but... he wasn't wrong.

"And tell me how did that go when you were in school?" He continued, pushing you further. "They didn't seem too supportive of you, especially with your quirks." You tensed up and gripped the arms of the chair. You wanted to say something, anything for that matter but the words wouldn't come out.

Get a grip Y/n!

"They feared you didn't they?" He stopped in front of you. "How did that work out?" You were getting pissed off and you struggled to think straight.

"Get out of my head." You warned through gritted teeth.

"So I'm not wrong am I?"

"SHUT UP!" You shouted and shut your eyes as you tried your best to get his voice out of your head.

"You're a lot tougher than I thought." He chuckled. "You really are amazing Y/n." He complimented.

"I SAID SHUT UP!"

"Or you'll what?" That was the last straw. You glared at him and used your quirk on him waiting for him to wither in pain, but it never happened. You were completely perplexed as to why it wasn't working.

"You see Y/n, we're not here to hurt you." Kosaku took a step closer to you and kneeled in front of you. "We're very much interested in you." You raised an eyebrow.

"You're so powerful yet the others wouldn't let you use your quirk freely. We wouldn't do that." You looked around and the other members simply looked at you with their villainous smirks.

"We want to help you, we can give you what those 'Heroes' never did." Kosaku gestured towards a girl that was in the back. "This is Noya, she has a similar quirk to EraserHeads. She can modify the strength of a quirk as she pleases. For example," He signaled Dabi to move in and ignite his flame. He did so and then the girl looked like she was holding a doorknob in thin air and turned it to the left making the flame die out. Then she turned it to the right and the flame grew immensely.

"You see? We can keep that quirk of yours in check and there won't be any problems. Noya will be right by your side." She gave you a small wave with a surprisingly none sinister grin.

"What do you say? We can be the real supportive family you've never had." You had a flashback to the days you would spend alone at home.

"But I..." The thought of your friends made you think twice. "My friends they..."

"Do you think they would be very accepting of your quirk if they knew?" You started to imagine the fear on their faces as they would back away from you. "Not even All Might wanted to teach you how to control it." You felt your heart drop. "Even the number one hero is afraid of you."

"But he...cares for me..."

"Or was he keeping an eye on you? Think about it, why would they have you in a prestigious hero school? All the Pro-heroes that are there teaching, high-tech security. Y/n," You felt his hand on your shoulder. "They were making sure you wouldn't cause any problems." You felt your eyes sting with tears. It all started to make sense.

"But I thought they..." Kosaku grabbed the rope that was holding you down and started to untie it.

"I'm sorry to have to tell you this but," He took off the last of the rope from your legs and let it slip out of his hand and to the floor as he said, "They never cared in the first place." You felt a drop fall down your cheek.

"But that's why you're here, we wanted to give you a better life, one where you can be yourself without restrictions. You can use your quirk to its fullest potential and before the backlash of it gets you, Noya will turn it down to 0% and you won't feel a thing." He lifted a hand and wiped away your tears. "So don't get emotional."

You felt yourself relax and it was like something clicked in your mind.

Everything they've ever done for you was only for their benefit. You never mattered.

"So what do you say Y/n?" You finally made eye contact with Kosaku, letting him see the red tint that started to take over the original e/c color you had.

"I think, I just found a new family."
