FLASHBACK CONTINUES

Few Months after VM & PA’s Marriage

Mullai’s House

MuPar were having their usual chat when Karthik came that time.

Murugan: Vaangge, mappilai. Ukkarungge. (Karthik smiles and sits on the sofa.)

Parvathy: Mullai innum college lernthu varale.

Karthik: Illei, aththai. Naan unggale paarkethaan vanthen.

Murugan: Sollungge, mappillai.

Karthik: Athu vanthu, mama. (He hesitates a bit.) Appa’vum amma’vum josiyar kitte enggalukku jaathagam parthirukkangge pole. Engga kalyanathai evvalavo seekiram mudiyumo avvalavo seekiram vekkirathu nallathu’nu sollitara.

Murugan: Appadiya?? (He looks at Parvathy.) Thidirnu kalyanam yerpadu pannanomna, athu…..

Parvathy: Mullai enggalukku chella ponnu. Avalukku ellam parthu parthu seiyanumnu engga ellorodeyum aasai.

Karthik: Puriyuthu, aththai. Athan mothe engga kalyanathai simple’ah oru kovil’le pannittu. Ava padippu mudinjathukku appurom innum nalla grand’ah pannalam'nu ninaikkiren. Ippo thalli pota rombe thallikitte poyiruma. Athan. Nalla yosichi appurom sollungge. Naan varen. (He leaves from there.)

MuPar told to their family whatever Karthik told them.

Mullai: Karthik ithe pathi en kitteyum ethuvum sollale.

Vetri: Athai mama kitte pesittu un kitte pesalam nenechirupparu.

Pugazh: Athai, mama, neengge enna solringge??

Murugan: Karthik mappilai sonnathum sariyathan paduthu. Nalla vishayathai rombe naal thalli pode kudathu. Enna Parvathy solre??

Parvathy: Neengge solrathum sarithan. Avungge sonne mathiriye senjiralam. Mothe kovil’le saatharanama kalyanam pannittu, Mullai doctor aanathukku appurom, innum sirappa oru kalyanathai panniruvom.

Arjun: Mullai, nee kuduthu vechava. Orutharai rendu thadavai kalyanam senjikkure baakiyam yaarukkum avvalavo seekiram kidaikkathu.

Mullai: Karthik’eh rendu thadavai illei, 20 thadavai kude kalyanam pannippen. (They laugh.)

Murugan: Sari, naan mappilai kitte sollidren. Arjun, nee AdiYa kitteyum sollidu. 

Parvathy: Aama, da. Avungge Mumbai'ku poyi 5-6 maasam irukkum. Mullai'ku kalyanam'nu terinjichuna avungge rombe santhosham paduvangge.

Malar: Pinne. Papa'na avunggalukku usuraache.

Akila: En pattu kutty'ye ellorukkum pidikkum. (She pinches Mullai's cheek cutely.) Seekiram sollidu, na. (Arjun nods.)

After few weeks

At a temple

Mullai is adorned beautifully in a red saree studded with diamonds on it. The saree was designed specially by Akila for her dearest sister. She took almost 10 days to get the saree ready as she doesn’t want any mistakes to happen. The saree matches her perfectly and her precious smile on her face is making her more adorable. She doesn't stop smiling as she is going to marry the love of her life. MA took Mullai to the altar where Karthik is already waiting in his groom attire. He is completely lost seeing Mullai and forgets whatever happening in his surrounding. ArVPVin chuckle seeing him. Arjun winks at them.

Arjun: Kettimelam kettimelam!!!

Iyer: (confused) Innum naadi aagale, neengge ethukku kettimelam solrel??

Arjun: Iyer’eh neengga mothe mappillaiye paarunggo.(The iyer looks at Karthik who is searching for something.)

Iyer: Enna thedurel??

Karthik: Kettimelam sonningge. Athan ‘thaali’…. (The iyer looks at him in disbelief.)

Iyer: Konjom porumaiya irunggo!! Kalyana ponne innum medaikku varale. (Karthik turns and sees Mullai is just entering the temple. He hears ArVPVin are laughing. He glares at them.)

Vinay: Kalyana mappillai ippadi muraikke kudathu. Sirichikkitte irukkanum. (Karthik is about to say something.) Anni vanthachi!! (Karthik looks at Mullai who is smiling shyly at him. Karthik smiles admiringly at her making her to blush more. MA make Mullai to sit beside Karthik. The iyer continues to chant the mantras. Finally, the wedding take place. Karthik ties the ‘thaali’ around Mullai’s neck making her as his wife. Mullai smiles in tears looking at the ‘thaali’. He then takes a pinch of the red vermillion and places it on her forehead and on her ‘mangalyam’ pendant. Both of them get up and take their vows by walking around the fire. They took their blessings from their parents. MuPar are having tears in their eyes seeing their beloved daughter. Mullai hugs them.)

Parvathy: Theerka sumanggali’ya 100 varushathukku santhoshama vazhanum. (She kisses Mullai’s forehead. Mullai too kisses her cheek. Then MulKar go to ArVMPA. Mullai hugs ArMA.)

Arjun: Un nalla manasukku nee eppothum nalla iruppe, da.

Akila: Unnaye rombe miss pannuvom, vairame.

Malar: Naame daily video call panni pesalam. (Mullai nods hugging them. She then go and hug VP. Karthik and his family just smile seeing them.)

Mullai: Akka've nalla parthukkughe'nu naan solle maaten. Neengge nalla parthupighe'nu enakku teriyum. Velai'nu ungge health'eh keduthukkathiye. Nerathukku saapidanum, thoongganum. Sari'ya??

VP: Sari, madam. Command accepted. (Mullai chuckles at them.)

Pugazh: Karthik, Mullai ode condition terinji thane kalyanam pannikitte??

Karthik: Condition ah?? Enna condition??

Vetri: Mullai, sollaleya?? Dhaadi vechikke kudathu'nu.

Malar: Vetri, athu Mullai sollave vendam. Karthik'thaan dhaadiye vechikkaleye.

Mullai: Athane. Karthik eppothum clean shaved.

Karthik: Wait a minute. Athu enna dhaadi vechikke kudathu?? Mullai, unakku dhaadi pidikkatha??

Mullai: Chi chi. Enakku pidikave pudikkathu??

Karthik: Teriyame poche. Munnadiye solliruntha, dhaadi'ode kalyanam panniruppen. Athunaale enna. Inimel vekke vendiyathu thaan.

Mullai: Vechi paaru enna pannuren'nu!!

Karthik: Enna pannuve!!??

Mullai: Unnai divorce panniruven.

Karthik: Dhaadi vechathukaagava?? Inthe reason judge accept pannikke maatangge. Case court'le nikkathu.

Vinay: Chair potu ukkare sollu!!

Arjun: Appadi sollu, machan!! (ArVin have a high five.)

Karthik: Unneye love pannurathukku munnadi inthe vishayam terinjirunthuchi, dhaadi vechirukkavanethaan nee love panni kalyanam pannikkanum'nu saabam kuduthiruppen!! (Mullai slaps his arm.)

Mullai: Pondaati kitte pesure pecha ithu!! By the way, you are too late. Neethan enakku purushan'nu vithi eluthiyaachi. Maathe mudiyathu.

Karthik: Summa vilayatukku sonnen, Mullai. Appadi ellam yaaravathu unneye enkitternthu thattittu poge vitturuvena?? (Mullai smiles at him.)

Mullai: Athu sari. Adi anna’vum Zo anni’yum yen varale??

Arjun: Adi etho oru case’le busy’ah irunthara. Ticket’eh kidaikkaleya. Innaikku kalaiyile thaan ticket irunthucha. Innerum Chennai’kku vanthiruppangge.

Mullai: Avughe varattum, irukku nalla. Jaan, flower’nu konje vendiyathu aana kalyanathukku vare mudiyathu. Hmm. (Sulks.)

Karthik: Mullai, Aditya oru police officer. Enthe nerathule velai varum’nu predict panne mudiyathu. Summa varame iruppanggala?? Zoya innerathukku oru 100 pakkam’aavuthu lecture kuduthukittu iruppangge Aditya’ku. (All laugh listening to him.)

After a while

Everyone is chatting among each other. Karthik takes this as a chance and takes Mullai with him before anyone could see.

Mullai: Hey, engge kootitu pore?? Yaaravathu paarthure poraghe??

Karthik: Yaaru partha enakku enna?? En pondaati'ye naan kootitu poren.

Mullai: Aathi!! Rombe thairiyam'thaan!! (They go to the entrance.)

Karthik: Un purushan'aache. Inthe alavukku kude thairiyam irukkatha.

Mullai: Paarda!! Athan kalyanam pannittom'le?? Appurom ethukku ippadi kootitu vanthe.

Karthik: Nee innaikki thani azhaga irukke. Appove sollanum'nu ninaichen aana aalungge irunthe naale solle mudiyale. You are looking breathtaking today!! (Mullai blushes hard.) Nee inthe mathiri blush pannina innum azhaga irukke. (She blushes more. Karthik caresses her cheek which has become red.)

Mullai: Chi po!! Enakku koochama irukku!! (Karthik chuckles at her cuteness. He sees here and there.)

Karthik: Kadavule, enneye mannichurungge!!

Mullai: (confused) Ethukku??

Karthik: Ithukkuthan!! (He goes near her and plants a deep kiss on her cheek making her stunned.) Kovil'le inthe mathiri nadanthukke kudathu. Athan sorry sonnen!!! (Mullai couldn't help but laugh seeing him. Karthik too laughs with her.)

Mullai: (hugs him) Karthik, enakku innaikki rombe santhoshama irukku. Naan mulusa un manaivi aayitten. Nammale yaaraleyum pirikke mudiyathu. (Karthik hugs her back.) Aana Karthik, dhaadi mattum vechikkathe.

Karthik: Naan eppothum un kudethaan iruppen, Mullai!! Unakku pidikkathe ethuvum naan seyya maaten. Dhaadi'yum vechikke maaten.

Mullai: Promise??

Karthik: (kisses her head) Mullai promise!! (Mullai smiles and tightens the hug on him.)

Murugan: Sari, neram aaguthu. Ponnu mappillai, veetukku alaichittu poi paal’um pazham’um kudukkanum. Ippo purappattathan sariya irukkum.

Parvathy: Aama, Mullai'yum mappilai'yum engge??

Vinay: Aththai, anna anni'ye thaniya kootitu poyirukku. Innum konje nerathule vanthuruvangge.

Divya: Avungge varattum. Yaaravathu veetukku munnadi poitu aarthi thattu ready panringgala??

Malar: Aththai, naanum Akila'vum poyi ready pannidrom.

RS: Sari, ma. Thaniya pogathingge. Vetri, Pugazh, neenggalum kude pongge. (VP nod and they leave with MA.)

MulKar are about to go back to their family when Mullai stops seeing at somewhere.

Karthik: Enna aachu, Mullai??

Mullai: Karthik, enakku anthe poo vaanggi kudu.

Karthik: Hey, athan thaleyile ivvalavo poo vechirukkiye. Athe engge vekke pore??

Mullai: Athu Mullai poo. Un kaiyaale vaanggi, un kaiyaale vechikkanum’nu aasaiya irukku. Please, vaanggi thaayen.

Karthik: (smiles) First time en kitte onnu ketirukke. Naan maatenu solluvena??Athuvum en Mullai mullai’ye ketirukke. Itho ippo vaanggittu vanthudren. (Mullai grins happily. Karthik crosses the road to buy the flowers. Mullai looks at him happily.)

VM and PA are walking towards their car when a car stopped in front of them and they see AdiYa coming out from the car.

Zoya: The wedding is over, Aditya. It’s because of you!! See, I couldn’t witness my jaan’s wedding!! Just look at there. They are almost leaving. Jaan must be very upset with us!! You are the one should convince her.

Aditya: Really?? Who is the one asked me to stop the car to buy the flower which you are holding now?? “Aditya, stop the car!! I want to buy mullai flowers for my jaan!!” We waited 30 minutes there to get this flowers. Ok??

Zoya: Oh!!! You are turning the table towards me now?? You are blaming me!! (VM and PA chuckle seeing them and recalled whatever Karthik told them.)

Vetri: Relax, guys. Why are you still fighting?? (MA hug Zoya.)

Malar: Chill, anni.

Aditya: Sorry, yaar. We couldn’t reach on time.

Pugazh: Arjun told us just now. But you have to convince your darling sister. (MA nod their heads.)

Zoya: Where is she??

Akila: They should be around here. Karthik took her with him.

Zoya: Oh!! Love birds. Let them spend some time together now. Then, we will play with them. (She winks at them.) Where are appa and amma??

Vetri: They are inside the temple. We have to leave now as we need to prepare the aarthi for the newly married couple.

Aditya: Ok, guys. We will catch you later. (AdiYa enter inside the temple and see others are walking towards the entrance. AdiYa go towards them and take blessings from the elders.) Sorry, Paru maa, appa.

Parvathy: Paravale, Adi. Athan neengge vanthuttinggale. (Aditya hugs her.) Sari, neram aachu. Namme veetule poi pesikkalam.

Vinay: Mullai anni anggethan nikkirangge.

Zoya: Aditya, let’s go and surprise her. (Aditya agrees and they walk towards Mullai who is looking at Karthik. Mullai who was admiring Karthik, suddenly she feels not good. She wants to go towards Karthik. She starts to cross the road to go to Karthik. Karthik sees her crossing the road just shakes his head. He bought the flowers and about to go to her when he saw a car coming in a high speed towards Mullai.)

Karthik: (screams) Mullai!! (Others are confused why he is screaming. VM and PA who are about to leave get down from the car when they hear Karthik's scream. Aditya noticed the car coming towards Mullai. Before he could react, he sees Karthik runs towards Mullai and pushes her. She fell at the side of the road. Before he could escape, the car ran on him. Everyone is shocked with the happening. Mullai is totally confused. Her mind is only having one thought. Her Karthik. MA and Zoya  rushed towards her and help her to get up.

Mullai: Karthik?? (She looks for him.) Akka, Karthik engge?? (She sees crowd are gathered at one place. She rushed towards there and shocked to see her husband in a pool of blood. Both of her families are crying seeing him. She cries hysterically.) Karthik!!! (She runs and hugs his lifeless body.) Ennaye paaru, Karthik!! Please!! Enneye paaru!!

Vetri: Mullai, control yourself, ma. Karthik immediate'ah hospital kootitu poganum. Please!! (Mullai understands. VP lift Karthik and placed him inside the car. Mullai too gets inside the car. She is crying vigorously seeing his condition.)

City Hospital

Karthik is being treated in ICU. Everyone is crying. MuPar are consoling RD even though they are sad. Zoya is consoling Mullai.

Zoya: Jaan, he will be alright.

Mullai: I am scared, bhabhi. I don’t want to lose him. (Zoya hugs her tightly. Mullai sees VP are coming wearing the surgery attires to join other doctors to treat Karthik. She runs towards them.) Aththan, avanukku ethuvum aayirathule?? Avane kaapathiruvighale?? (She holds their hands.) Please, aththan. Avane eppadiyavathu kaapathirughe. Avanukku heart beat innum irukku. Appadina avanukku aabathu ethuvum irukkathu thane?? (VP didn’t know what to answer her. Her eyes are having hope and they don’t want to make it false. They just pat her cheek and enter the ICU.)

ICU

VP are surprised when other doctors are about to come out.

Doc: Vaangge, Vetri, Pugazh. Unggalukku'thaan wait pannittu irunthom.

Vetri: Doctor, Karthik nalla irukkan'le?? Avanukku enthe aabathum illeye?? (The doctor let a huge breath.)

Doc: Sorry, Vetri. We couldn’t save him. (VP are shocked listening to him.)

Pugazh: What?? How is that possible?? Avanukku heart beat irunthuchi'nu Mullai sonna. Neengge enna ippadi solringge. ECG machine paarungge. Avan heart beat innum irukku.

Doc: Pugazh, Karthik'ku heart beat irukku but he is brain dead. Neenggellam doctors!! Karthik'ke kondu varum pothu avan thaleyile evvalavo bleed aanathu'nu paakelaya?? His ears were bleeding too!! (VP recall what they saw when they lift Karthik from the accident spot. Both of them break into tears.)

Vetri: Doctor, ivanukku innaikki than kalyanam aanuchi. Kalyanam mudinji innum oru mani neram kude aagale. Naangge avan pondaati kitte enna solle?? Naame ivane kaapathiruvom'nu rombe nambikkaiyode irukka. (They go towards Karthik.) Yen da ippadi pannine?? Veliye un pondati kitte enna da solrathu?? (He cries badly.)

Pugazh: Ithukkuthan odane kalyanam pannanum’nu sonniya?? Dei!! Unnaye kaapathiruvom’nu nambikkaiyode irukka!! Ava kitte poyi un purushana kaapathe mudiyale’nu sonna, ava thangguvala,da!! Unakku yenda inthe avasaram?? (Cries)

Doc: Control yourselves Vetri, Pugazh. Neengge doctors!!

Vetri: Doctors’na manushanungge illeya?? Emotions irukka kudatha??

Pugazh: Vazha vendiya paiyan, doctor. Evvalavo aasaiya kalyanam panninangge. Paavam doctor ivungge rendu perum. Ivan usure vittu veliye ivan mele usura irukkiravanggale thavikke vittutu poitan. Mullai chinna ponnu, doctor. Kalyanam pannine annaikke…… (He couldn’t say more.) Eppadi ava thaangguva??

Doc: Ungge nilamai enggalukku puriyuthu. But we can’t change whatever happened. Ippo neenggethan ungge family’ku support’ah irukkanum.

Vetri: Doctor, sathiyama enggalaale inthe vishayathai avungge kitte solle mudiyathu. Anthe thairiyam enggalukku illei. (The doctor understands and take them outside.)

Outside the ICU

Mullai sees VP coming and runs towards them.

Mullai: Aththan, avan nalla irukkan’le?? Naan poyi paake poren. (About to enter the ward but Pugazh holds her.) Vidungge, aththan. Naan avane paake poren.

Divya: Vetri, engga paiyan nalla irukkan’le??

Vinay: Sollungge, na. Karthik annavukku ethuvum agale’le?? (VP didn’t say anything.)

Murugan: Yen amaithiya irukkingge?? Karthik mappillai nalla irukkaru'le. (ArAdi could feel something is not good seeing VP's faces. Arjun grabs Aditya’s hand and shakes his head. Aditya pats his hand. MA and Zoya are standing by Mullai waiting for their answer. VP look at another doctor.)

Doc: We are sorry. Enggalaale Karthik’eh kaapatha mudiyale. He is brain dead. (Everyone is shocked to hear the news. Mullai stood numb try to get inside her mind about what she heard.)

Mullai: Illei. Naan namba maaten. Neengge poi solriye!! Avanukku ethuvum aagale!! Naan avane poi paake poren. (She barges inside the ward and sees Karthik is lying on the bed with a sheet covering from his head to toe. She opens the sheet and cries seeing him.) Karthik!! Ennenemo solraghe!! Nee elunthiri!! Kanne thiranthu paaru!! Un Mullai vanthirukken!! Un pondaati, Mullai vanthirukken!! Paaru da enneye!! (She touches his chest and she could feel his heartbeat.) Un ithayam thudikkuthu'na nee uyirode thaneda irukkanum. Kanne thiranthu enneye paaru, Karthik!! Innaikki thaneda namakku kalyanam aanuchi!! Ippadi enneye vittutu poitiye!! Yen da ippadi pannine!!?? En kude oru naal kude vazhanum'nu unakku thonalaya?? (She cries badly hugging his body. Others too cry badly seeing her. They don’t know how to console her.) Ellam ennalethan!! Naan mattum unkitte poo vaanggi kudu’nu kekkame irunthirunthena, unakku inthe mathiri aayirukkathu. Naanthan unneye konnutten. Anthe car en mele mothe vendiyathu. Nee ethukku enneye thalli vitte?? Un family kitternthu naane unnai pirichitten!! (She weeps badly. Divya goes and hugs her. She is not that much cruel to blame this innocent girl for the destiny’s play.) Enneye mannichurungge, aththai. Ungge paiyane ungge kitternthu naan pirichitten. (Divya just caresses her hair without saying anything. She knows that if she says something, more this girl will blame herself. Mullai looks at Karthik and places her head on his chest feeling his heartbeat. AdiYa take others outside from the ward leaving Mullai alone. Mullai continues weeping on his chest recalling all the moments they spent together.) I love you, Karthik!!

Aditya entered inside the ward after some time while others are waiting at the corridor. He sees Mullai is still lying on Karthik’s chest. He controls his emotions and touches her head.

Aditya: Flower!!

Mullai: Don’t call me that, bhaiya. Your flower is withered. It won’t bloom again. (He is surprised to hear 'bhaiya' from her as she never addressed him like that. She always called him 'anna' just like she call Arjun. For her, there is no difference between Arjun and him. However, he understands how much she is broken right now.)

Aditya: Don’t say like that. (He wants to touch her hair but his hand brushed with her 'thaali' string and some turmeric paste stick on his palm. Mullai smiles sadly looking at it.)

Mullai: Ithule irukkire manjal kude innum kaayale. See it’s still wet but he left me forever. (That’s it. Aditya couldn’t control himself and before he could break down in front of her, he left the ward. Zoya who is consoling Parvathy and MA is startled to see Aditya coming out in tears. She has never seen him crying in these years. She rushed towards him.)

Zoya: Aditya!!

Aditya: I can’t, Zoya!! I can’t console her. This pain is too much for her to bear. (Zoya hugs him.)

Zoya: Aditya, we have to be strong. At least, we should pretend to be strong. Entire family is broken right now. Who will support them if we too fall apart?? Please, Aditya. We can cry at our house. Don’t cry here. Amma, appa, Arjun, my jaan, Malar, Akila, Vetri bhaiya, Pugazh bhaiya, Karthik’s family need our support now. (Aditya hugs Zoya. Both of them composed themselves and walk towards the family. Zoya enters the ward and brings Mullai outside. Her eyes are exhausted for continuously crying.)

Back to Present

Mullai’s Room

Mullai is crying badly after finished narrating her past to Kathir. Kathir is also having tears in his eyes thinking about her worst fate. He recalls how bad she felt when she learnt about the humiliation he faced during his wedding. Due to that till now he is having fear to get married. But her situation is worst than his. He just faced humiliation but this girl lost her husband right after her marriage. How miserable she must have felt?? Despite of that, she worried about him. How selfless is this girl?? No wonder everyone in her family loves her a lot even though she is not blood related to them.

Mullai: Kalyanam panni oru mani neram kude aagale. Poitan!! Avan ponathukku appurom, enakku ethuvum pidikkale. Enthe colour'um pidikkale, poo pidikkale, sirikke pidikkale, azhaga irukkire ethuvum enakku pidikkale. Naan ippo vazhrathu en kudumbathukkaga mattumthan. Ennale avughalum rombe odanji poitaghe. Amma'ku udambu kude sari illame pochi. Avughalukku kaage naan santhoshama irukkire mathiri nadichikittu irukken. Aana naan santhoshama illei. (She tries hard to control herself but she can’t and ends up crying again. Kathir feels bad and about to touch her hair but hesitates. He couldn’t see her crying like this. He brings his hand and wipes her tears which is flowing relentlessly. He cups her face making her to look at him. She cries again but he just shakes his head and hugs her much to his surprise. He didn’t think of hugging her and just did it spontaneously. Mullai cries burying her face on his chest. She could feel his heart beat which comforts her. She too hugs him back and listens to the rhythm of his heart. They stay like that.)

At the Living Area

ArVPMuPar finished narrating to them about Mullai’s past. JM, DM and Lakshmi are having tears in their eyes listening to them.

Lakshmi: Inthe mathiri Mullai'ku nadathirukkum'nu naan neneche paakale. Ippo puriyuthu naan appadi ketathu unggalukku evvalavo kashtama irunthirukkumnu. Enneye mannichirungge, Muruga, Parvathy.

Parvathy: Paravale, anni. Neengge enna pannuvingge. Unggalukku ethuvum teriyathu.

Murugan: Mullai'ode vazhkai athode maariduchi. Sariya saapide maata, pese maata, sirikke kude maata.

Arjun: Colours'eh vazhkaiyile veruthutta. Dull'aana colours thaan use pannuva. Ava dress panrathuleye unggalukku terinjirukkum.

Dhanam: Inthe mathiri enthe ponnukum nadakke kudathu. Paavam Mullai!! (She cries feeling bad. Meena consoles her.) Eppadithan thaangginalo??

Parvathy: Naangge inthe mathiri thaan avale nenechi kavalai pattukittu irunthom. Aana Mullai oru padi mele poita. (They look at her confusingly.)

*Flashback Continues*

DM and Lakshmi are amused to know what Mullai has done. JM just smile at each other.

Kannan feels bad listening to MA. His eyes are holding tears thinking about Mullai.

Kannan: Alathiye, annis. Mullai anni nalla manasukku nallathuthan nadakkum. Avughalukku koodiye seekirathule oru nalla vazhkai kidaikkethan poguthu. (He holds their shoulders assuring them. They smile in tears placing their heads on both side of his shoulders. He caresses their heads.)

Mullai’s Room

Mullai realised she is hugging Kathir and pulls herself from him feeling embarrassed.

Mullai: Sorry’ngge. Naan enakku nadanthathe solli unggale kashta paduthitten.

Kathir: Naanthan ungge kitte mannippu ketkanum.

Mullai: Aiyoyo??

Kathir: (confused) Ennachu??

Mullai: Illei’ngge. Naan aluthu ungge sattai'ye nanaichitten. (Kathir looks at the shirt which is wet with her tears.) Irungge naan vere sattai tharen.

Kathir: Ithu kanner'than. Seekiram kaanjirum. (Mullai smiles sadly.) Unggalukku ippo paravaleya??

Mullai: Rombe naal'ku appurom manasu vittu aluthirukken. Etho baaram korainje mathiri irukku. Thanks'ngge. (Kathir smiles at her. He then takes her hand and places it on his palm and places his another hand on her’s.) 

Kathir: (in a gentle tone.) Mullai. (Mullai looks at him in surprise. This is the first time she is hearing him calling her name and it sounds different. She feels something different inside her heart.)

Mullai: Ssss...Sollungge.

Kathir: (shakes his head) Onnum illei. (Takes one of his hand from her. He is about to take his another hand but Mullai tighten her grip on his palm. Kathir smiles.)

Mullai: Etho solle vanthiyale.

Kathir: (pats her hand gently.) Keele pogalam. Ellam namakkage kaathukittu iruppangge. (Mullai nods and they remove their hands from each other's grip.)
