RILEY’S POV-
A month passed after Jenson found out I liked her… and then I realized her birthday was in a month and a half. A month and a half left to watch over her and made sure she made it to her 18th birthday… but so far so good right?
But things were… changing between her and I. she was distancing herself from me, either from denial or something else I couldn’t figure out.
I knew she liked me, I could feel it when I was around her… but she also had the same feelings fro Jake. Maybe it was just cause she was supposed to like Jake, so she continued to refuse the fact that she liked me to, attempting to block out the feelings I gave her.
I hadn’t kissed her since the night I confessed to her though, that’s the last thing I was going to do… unless she asked of course.
But tonight we were supposed to be going to Jake’s baseball game, and after… we were hitting a party.
Jenson was laying on my bed, flipping through a magazine as she rested her head on her hand. I studied her from the door, she looked adorable in her jeans, and her butt…
Her head snapped to me, she tilted her head as she sat up, “Were you…?”
Checking you out? Definitely…
“No,” it was a sudden attempt to cover up the real answer but I shrugged it off. It’s not like I had to hide it anymore, she knew how I viewed her and she continued to come around.
She squinted at me, trying to figure out what to say but she stayed silent. I crawled onto my bed, facing her and getting my face close to her, I felt her nerves shoot up. I smiled, and then relaxed back on my pillow, crossing my feet at the end of the bed.
“Why’d you smile like that?”
I looked up at her, still smiling, “Because… I’m just waiting for the day you lean in too and kiss me.”
She rolled her eyes, a slight smirk peeking through her lips, “That day will never come.”
“Never say never.”
“Never.”
I sat up, my hand finding Jenson’s leg, if she didn’t want it there, she would tell me, or move it herself, but she didn’t. I could feel her nerves heighten, her pulse sped up, and her eyes met mine… I smiled, “Does this make you uncomfortable?”
She was comfortable, I could fell it, she wasn’t scared or disgusted, and from what I could fell… she like it. “It makes me uncomfortable…”
I retracted my hand, even though I knew she was lying to me… and herself. I could feel the way she felt, she liked it, but she was lying… just to deny it.
“You know Jenson… it’s okay to like me… I’m a great person, and I’m sexy,” I decided this was the best approach, to just make her laugh.
She did, her beautiful laughter filling the room, “Well you’re definitely confident… that’s for sure.”
I smiled up at her, “Just trying to lighten the mood Ms. Serious.”
She shrugged, “I’m sorry, it’s not everyday my best friend comes out to me, and then tries to seduce me.”
I locked eyes with her, and smile spreading across my lips, “Oh sweetie, I haven’t even tried to seduce you… but if you want…” I placed my hand on her leg once more, “I can.”
She palmed my face, grabbing me and shoving my face away from hers and I laughed, “No, bad Riley.”
I laughed, “I’m not a dog.”
“You’re acting like one, are you horny or something?”
I laughed, I had never heard Jenson talk like that, I leaned in towards her, whispering in her ear, “A little.”
She shoved me, almost sending me off the bed, she was giggling but I could tell she wasn’t afraid of me. She thought it was amusing that I was constantly flirting with her and trying to get her to open up to me, but she was never afraid of me.
And if she ever got uncomfortable I would jut stop.
She looked at her phone, “Wanna leave?”
I shook my head, “No, I wanna stay here with you…”
She tilted her head to the side, “Riley… I promised Jake I would go to his game…”
I smiled, “He probably won’t play anyway!”
She grabbed my jacket and pulled me towards the edge of the bed, but I was stronger then her. I pulled back, landing on my back and Jenson falling on top of me, I smiled, “I like this…”
She was pressed against me, she was giving me a stern look and she shook her head and laughed, “Of course you do.”
I puckered up as if I was waiting for her to kiss me, but she never did, she just climbed off of me. “Let’s go… please?”
I rolled my eyes, groaning as I stood up and grabbed a leather jacket and slipped it on over my thin zip up. It was cold outside, but it wasn’t insanely cold… maybe Jenson would ask me for my jacket, or I could hold her and warm her up.
We climbed into her car, and we started toward school for Jake’s game. We were approaching a light, and then all of a sudden… I got a vision.
A car, there was going to be a car that was going to run a red light. He won’t be paying attention, and he’s going to collide with us, hitting Jenson’s side of the car.
I pulled out of the vision, seeing the approaching green light. I blinked, then the light immediately turned yellow, forcing Jenson to slam on her brakes, “Shit!”
We halted to a completely stop, just in time for the car to zoom past the intersection and Jenson spoke, “That jackass just ran the red light! He could’ve killed us…”
I nodded, “Crazy ass people… he probably wasn’t paying attention…”
Jenson shook her head in disbelief, “People these days…”
I looked at her, smiling, “Guess I’m your lucky charm.”
She rolled her eyes, laughing at me, “Maybe… I was never lucky before I met you.”
