Chapter 21
''Its okay love. Keep the ring and tell me when you're ready.'' He got up from the floor finding balance on the table and took the dishes on it without saying a word. He looked good in his suit, but when he walked away his figure changed as though lifeless.
I could taste his disappointment. It is not that I did not want to try to have something with Toby, it was the idea of being married that broke down my spirits. Marriage is not a game and I could tell he knew nothing of the work and consistency that comes along with being a man and wife. Picturing what my parents had become made the anxiety from the thought explode in huge amounts. When he returned back to his seat, he seemed to be in better spirits.
''I am willing to be yours, if you're interested.'' I bargained. I could not believe I was putting myself in this vulnerable situation. I was entering the game of love that I knew in writing and not in reality. He grinned happily to my proposal lighting up something inside me that I cannot explain. I knew that I wanted him like this for all the days we are going to be together. He was a risk I wanted to take.
''First we have to discuss your new apartment. You are going to move there tomorrow since Aunt Mary expects you to leave by the then,'' he reached out for my hand resting on the table and of course I yanked it away. Maybe a bit too harsh but he caught me by surprise.
''Why would you do that without telling me?'' I did not realize how high my voice was getting. Maybe I was overreacting a bit.
''I'm sorry love. Do you want to talk about it?''
''Yes. First 'darling' I can't have you doing things for me that I don't get to have a say in them.'' I was being polite and he, a gentleman as always. Charming and beautiful sitting at the end of the table. He was mine and I was adjusting to the new change.
''You want to split the responsibilities?'' he asked concernedly. I took his hand to affirm his confidence in me. We were doing this together. I had not been in such a situation whereby I got to negotiate the terms I would alright with. It felt pretty good.
''Yes. Are you okay with that?''
''Sure love. But you will have to let me take care of you. I want to.''
''I can't fight that,'' I was crying again. I loved this side of him. Pure and generous and loving. What would happen though if his other side overcomes this one? Wrong thought at the wrong time.
''I can't wait to love you,'' I confessed.
''You are mine Liv. I promise to take care of you and love you. I will fight to make you happy and support you. I think I've just said my vows.''
'' And I promise to be truthful, kind and supportive too. Lets do this.''
''Okay Olivia?'' he proposed holding out his hand for a handshake.
''Okay.''
It was around midnight when they retired from their date. Olivia was happy and content with the progress they had made from the date. Toby was also in disbelief that he had found his checkmate and the girl he had been waiting for his whole life but felt a little bit of disappointment that she had refused his hand but had his heart instead. He took her upstairs whilst he was explaining his plans concerning going and returning from his sister's wedding after five days.
''Well this is me,'' she was shivering. She knew what was going to happen before she entered her room.
''I had a great time tonight.'' He confessed. This was also his first time putting himself out there for Olivia to see the real Toby Davis. Why has he been hiding all along? That is his secret to keep.
''Me too.''
''I want to kiss you.''
Olivia was obliged to ask 'why' but knew she would come out as a very weird person that she already was. Toby looked Olivia right in her eyes. It was their small battle of who to stop staring first. He drew his face nearer with his hand reaching for her neck. His lips quivered on her ear as he whispered, ''where should I kiss you? Right here?''. He placed his lips on her neck to retrieve his faded hickeys. Like a vampire he dug his teeth onto it and Olivia released a sudden loud moan.
He switched sides and kissed her chin and whispered amorously, ''how about right here then?'' Same pleasure but different response. She grabbed his neck and pulled him to her lips but he stopped himself. He kissed her and she him. It was strong passionate and ended with him halting to take a few moments to breathe. She sucked the oxygen out of him. Literally in a non-gross way. It was a good kiss. He wanted more and got more. A few seconds later when Carrie and Willy laugh their way into the house, he bid her goodbye and walked to his room feeling like a champion. Well the night was forgotten and the morning rose to give new experiences and choices.
The next morning Toby and Carrie where fetched by their driver who had been on leave and was called to duty. He was in his simple work suit and had already started packing the suitcases in the car. Toby was no longer excited about leaving. Olivia was to move in to her new apartment with Willy all alone and he was also going to meet their parents. Both these reasons made life unbearable for him.
Olivia would not move. She found it hard to believe that she was feeling this way for someone she knew intimately a day ago. Five days she convinced herself. It was only just for five days. He hugged her and got in the car and drove off. She and Willy were crying and realized the similarities they shared.
***Hey . I know it does not make sense where i am going with this, but be patient we will get to the end. Vote and comment. Bye!***
