Chapter 13
There was a time when everyone found being a lady a blessing to humankind. We do have the power to create a human being inside our bodies. They feed from us before and after birth. We have the natural gift to build and destroy creation. We are also talented in different lines of work. We have so many things to use as leverage to support the idea that we are a blessing but truthfully none of us see the light in ourselves.
Being a lady still is similar to standing on a pedestal on display for everyone to judge you on your actions. We are given the standards of beauty and choice. I spent all my youthful days categorizing myself and being categorized on the non-beautiful side. Neither did I wear makeup nor clothes that left out a bit of skin. I loved long trousers, baggy clothes and long sleeved clothing. I loved my look! If only I had understood then that only having confidence in my look is what made me beautiful. Appreciating your beauty is the key to self-love and self-confidence that unlocks inner happiness.
Carrie was used and betrayed, a story every girl can relate to. Losing your virginity to a worthless piece of shit ranks most high. It is not everyone who gets a beautiful hotel with the bed dressed in roses petals and chocolates. Some get their beds, noise, discontentment and all ends up in unwanted pregnancies. Pregnancy is a gift and provides happiness to its makers but it is quite hard to care for a baby especially when you are alone and not in a secure relationship.
Deep down, what scares and makes most of us to actually consider abortion is the fear of failing to be a good parent that you believe the child deserves. Being alone and raising a child is difficult especially when they are people out there judging you in everything you do. It is difficult but not impossible. Life is a teacher and we are the students. Either we pass the test or we fail.
{Knock}
''Olivia,'' calls Carrie opening the door.
''Come in Carrie sit down,'' I said assisting her to sit on the bed. She was holding the test in her hand too scared to look and check for the results.
I took the test and read the box first so my comments would be accurate. Yes, they were positive.
''Carrie trust me everything will be alright,'' I said trying to instill as much confidence in her as possible. She sat rock-hard on the bed. There was no gladness or sign of remorse. She was silent. I proposed we let her brother know and she said nothing. Of course she was scared but her reaction scared me more.
I called Toby to my room. Shit!
''Who the fuck did this to you Carrie. I don't get it! How did you-. Fuck!'' He was pissed off.
''Calm down Toby,'' I begged.
''Don't tell me to calm the fuck down! Who did this to you Carrie?'' It was obvious that whoever did this had hit his weak spot.
''D-DD-Dylan,'' she stuttered in fear.
''I'm gonna kill him!'' I approached him and pulled him to the bathroom.
''Hey hey hey, be calm.'' I held his cheeks with both my hands ''I know you are angry and I'm sorry but we need to be calm for her. She is in shock! Let's go back in there and discuss what we will do next.'' Okay what did I just do?
Toby was so shocked that his body listened only to Olivia's command. We walked back into the room. Carrie was still rigid and shivering. Toby held her as she soberly burst into tears. I left and gave them space. Toby received a call and left the room and asked me to make Carrie some food. She was weak and tired. I was making her bread with egg and mayo. I still did not know things around the kitchen. Luckily after his call he came to help me make a proper meal which was a kind gesture.
''Dylan?''
''What?'' he asked angrily.
''Who is he?''
''A guy I used to hang around with. He was a douche bag. We aren't friends anymore.''
''Okay,'' I said closing any chances of continuing on this subject. He was hurt.
''I think it's time I got to know you Olivia,'' said Toby chopping onions like a professional chef. He desperately wanted a distraction because he was a few minutes away from murdering Dylan.
''What do you want to know?'' asked Olivia helping with greasing the chicken for the grill.
''Your love life. I haven't heard you calling your boyfriend ever since you got here. What's up with that?''
''I don't have a boyfriend.''
''Why not?''
What do you mean why not?
''Um I don't date.''
''Like ever?''
''Yes or at least anymore,'' I said uncomfortably.
''I don't think I will ever live without sex.''
''I don't think I will live without food,'' I replied resulting in both of us laughing.
''May I ask another question?''
''Shoot,'' I answered putting the tray in the oven.
''Why don't you date anymore?''
''I'm different.'' I had nothing else to say. He was forcing it out of me.
''In bed?''
''No.''
''In touching?''
''I don't touch people.''
''You hug though right?''
''Sideways, not that it makes any difference. The only person I have ever hugged is Jayden.''
''So you don't touch people? Touch me,'' he said mumbling his words. I could not hear him properly.
''What?'' I asked.
''I want you to walk up to me and touch me wherever you want to.''
Olivia was confused but also cast under a spell. Toby was distracting her. His eyes roamed all over her body. He looked at her differently this time. He took his time and felt a little shiver move up his chest. He pictured himself touching her curves softly up to her waist. There he would settle for a second and move on to her back and unstrap her bra. He was getting a little bit excited.
He would allow her head to rest on his shoulders whilst he blew a short and quick feathery puff of air onto her back and give her a chance to breathe. After she sighs as a sign of giving in and letting her guard down, he would slowly unbutton every button on her shirt whilst kissing the back of her ear. Disappointment. Olivia was never going to allow him to do that. Damn!
''What are you doing?'' I asked noticing he was coming closer and closer to me.
''I want you to touch me,'' he said in his usual sexy deep voice. Not to harsh just smooth.
''What?''
''Touch,'' comes closer to Olivia staring hungrily into her completely confused eyes.
''Me,'' he gently slid his into her slack's pockets. She was shaking.
''Touch me love.'' He moved his hand from her pockets and stepped back in capitulation . He could clearly feel her not being able to breathe. One last time.
''Touch me,'' he asked again and waited impatiently for her touch. He needed it. He wanted it. Not as a trophy but because he could not resist her enticing innocence.
Olivia hesitantly lifted her hand unsure of what to do with it. He helped her and laid it on his neck. That is when he truly believed she was not joking when she had said she never touches people. Her touch was tender and comforting. With just one touch he was healed from his anxiety and stress. He felt loved and relieved. The moment passed and her hands moved away from its position quickly and continued preparing the meal. After serving food they sat together to finish up Scandal.
''I think I have a lead on Liberty's location,'' he said lowering the volume.
''What? How?''
''Remember the man at his workplace?'' he asked looking at both Carrie and I.
''Yeah.'' I replied.
''He said he found his second house address from their delivery guy he had hired when he was fired. I was thinking we go right now before we are too late. Are you guys down to go?''
''What about Carrie?'' asked Olivia concernedly.
''I will go with you. I don't mind,'' she said going up to her room to get herself a coat.
When we were about to leave we met Jayden out the door. He was carrying Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." This was going to be a long night.
