Taehyung's heart stopped beating for a second when he heard those words. He looked down for a moment before looking up again and showing everyone a pressed smile.
"Noted" was the only word that came out of his mouth since he knew if he spoke more than that, his voice would crack up.
The King and Queen gathered around Jungkook and Taehyung who were standing in front of the priest who placed the papers on the table and requested the two to sit down.
The two glanced at each other and exchanged two small smiles. Taehyung, with shaky hands, picked up the feather and dipped it in the ink. He gulped as the words on the papers turned blurry for him, and the feather that was oh-so light felt so heavy in his hand. With a trembling hand and a shattering heart, he signed the papers, blinking so hard to not let his tears spill on the paper.
And Jungkook, so badly wanted to hold Taehyung and give him support. The King and Queen looked so happy that their son will finally be able to marry and inherit the throne.
Jungkook stared at the papers that were forwarded to him, waiting for him to sign them. He picked up the feather and took his hand forward to sign it; everyone was looking at him impatiently to sign the papers instead of Taehyung who was too heartbroken to even look at Jungkook.
But suddenly, Jungkook halted in the middle of his actions and everyone around him looked at him with surprised expressions over their faces.
"Jungkook, what happened? Why are you not signing the papers?" The Queen asked in confusion and the words made Taehyung whip his head towards Jungkook who was still staring at the papers with the pen in his hand.
"Jungkook, it is my order. Sign the papers" The King spoke and he was surprised to see his ever-so loyal servant stay still to his orders.
After a moment, he finally spoke.
"I deeply apologize, Master. I cannot do this" He spoke making the King and Queen gasp while Taehyung looked at him with shocked eyes.
"What are you saying, Jungkook?!" The King exclaimed and saw Jungkook stand up, Taehyung standing up after him as he looked at Jungkook speechlessly.
"I apologize but this time, this servant cannot follow His Majesty's orders" He said as he bowed.
"Do you wish to be beheaded, Jungkook?" The Queen said, glaring at Jungkook.
"I wish to be beheaded rather than signing these divorce papers, Your Grace" He said as he held his head low.
"Explain your reasons, Jungkook" The King coldly spoke.
"Because I love Master. I love Master endlessly" As soon as Jungkook said that, everyone in the room gasped.
"I came here with a prepared mind to sign the documents, but as I stand here, I cannot find the courage or will to sign them. I love Taehyung so much that I find it difficult that I just cannot do it. I apologize, Master" Jungkook spoke as he bowed again.
"How dare you say that in front of me, Jungkook?!" The King yelled, his face burning with fury.
"To think that I looked at you as a loyal servant but you go behind my back and fall in love with the prince who has a fiancé! Have you got any shame?!" Jungkook just held his head low as he heard the King shout at him.
"Is this the reason why you agreed to go with Taehyung to the castle?! So that you could make my son fall for your trap?!" The Queen said, raising her hand to slap the man, but she halted as she heard someone's voice thunder across the room.
"Enough!" Taehyung yelled as he came out in front of Jungkook, the said man looking up at Taehyung with surprised eyes.
"Enough. You have no right to yell at my man!" What he said made his parents go speechless as they looked at each other with shell-shocked eyes.
"Taehyung? What are you saying, my dear son? Has he manipulated you into this?" The Queen worriedly spoke and was about to cup Taehyung's cheek when he slapped her hand away.
"Stop blaming him for everything. There is nothing you need to blame us for. This marriage was not a childish fit or a whim. It was an act of pure love, just like how all the lovers do it" Taehyung spoke, trying hard to sniffle his tears back.
"All this time, this man respected you and has been loyal to you, father. He was so faithful to you that he was willing to sacrifice our relationship for his duties. He has suffered a lot and you have no right to speak to him like that!" Taehyung said, trembling as this would be the first time he's going against his parents.
"My dear god, what have you done to my son?" The Queen broke into a cry, falling on the ground as she cupped her face, the King helping her get back up.
"I am ashamed to hear this from your mouth, Taehyung. But you do apprehend that you have been engaged and are supposed to get married tomorrow?" The King coldly spoke, no energy left to yell.
"Then if it is so easy to break bonds by making us sign these mere documents, why cannot you break this engagement?" Taehyung rudely spoke, sending his father's anger off the roof.
"That is a different case, Taehyung! You have a kingdom to run, what would the people think that their ruler is gay or that the prince is married to a servant?! What will we say to the King and Queen of Kingsland?!"
"Then why allow gay marriage if you cannot accept your own son's?! I do not need to be married to a woman to run the kingdom! I rule the people by my actions, not by my relationships!" Taehyung was totally on the verge of crying but he had to fight, he had to fight for his and Jungkook's love.
He knew his father had no reply to that because even he knew Taehyung was right.
"I have never asked you for anything in my life, father. I did everything you wanted me to do; I did everything I could to make you happy, even if that meant that I had to sacrifice my own happiness. But you always neglected me, I even started thinking that you stole my Jungkook from me too yet I never hated you. But just this once, this last time, I'll ask you for something from the bottom of my heart, father. Please give my Jungkook to me. Please give my husband to me. I-I am willing to beg in front of you" Taehyung cried out as he fell on his knees, clasping his hands together as he pleaded to his father who gasped as he saw his son doing something like that.
Jungkook immediately pulled Taehyung up and hugged him, who was crying so bad that he couldn't even speak a word now. The only thing that felt comforting to him was Jungkook's hand petting his hair.
The whole room went quiet and only Taehyung's sobs could be heard. Once he calmed down, he started speaking again.
"I apologize. But if you do not accept Jungkook and my love, then I have no choice but to leave the palace and the throne" Taehyung spoke making everyone gasp again, even Jungkook.
"Taehyung! No!" Jungkook said as he looked at Taehyung who only smiled at him and held his hand.
"I don't need anything else other than you, Jungkookie" Taehyung squeezed his hand and then glared at his parents who were too shocked to even comprehend what was going on anymore.
The King and Queen sat down on the couch, holding their head in their hands and thinking what to do.
The King sighed as he looked up at Taehyung who was still standing as if he won't waver from his determination.
"Well since you have already decided that you will not step back, who am I to question your decision? I was worried that if your love was mutual or not, but to witness the heir to the throne give up his position and kneel in front of his father like that for his love, made me realize that your love is beyond the classes created by society. I have no option but to give in to my son's request" He said and gently smiled at Taehyung who broke into a loud cry before falling in his father's arms, hugging the death out of him.
The King was surely surprised by Taehyung's actions since this would be their first time hugging, but the genuine showcase of love by his son brought tears in his eyes as he hugged him back. He looked at Jungkook and smiled who smiled back and bowed to him.
"Thank you, father. Thank you so much" Taehyung cried.
"But my only concern is that...if the people of the kingdom will accept this marriage" The King spoke as he sighed.
Taehyung got up from the ground and held Jungkook's hand.
"There might be some people who would protest, but there will also be people who will be happy. And if much problem is caused then I will happily leave the throne" Taehyung spoke and everyone looked at him with concerning eyes yet said nothing since he was old enough to decide for himself.
"But about...my fiancé" Taehyung said and his mother got up, patting his shoulder.
"Oh do not worry about that, your mother can handle such pressing matters. I just need to convince your father to buy me more rubies to send to the Queen of Kingsland and she will forget it in no time" She whispered making everyone in the room laugh, lightening the mood.
Taehyung dotingly looked at his mom before hugging her who immediately started tearing up and patted his back.
"I love you, mother" He spoke and with that, she immediately burst into tears.
She glanced at Jungkook who was looking at them and trying to control his smile and pulled him into a hug, surprising everyone.
The King wanted to join too but he thought it would be inappropriate in front of the priest and cleared his throat, letting the three have their family moment.
Taehyung glanced at Jungkook who was smiling at him and smiled back.
The Queen looked at them and held their hands.
"Get ready, boys. We have a wedding to prepare for"
