Who Wants New Shoes And A Bite To Eat?

No.19

Lexi and Stefan were having a ball. Yet, Stefan made no move on her whatsoever. It was like watching a new born lamb starting to walk, or a 12 year old boy, more interested in video games than the opposite sex. Lexi wore eye raising clothes, and Stefan never bat an eyelid, until I walked in wearing a ratty tee and sweats, and then he drooled. It was frustrating to say the least.

Lexi was becoming disheartened, and it hurt me to see her in a sort of funk. So I decided to do things in a less subtle way. I discussed it mentally with Damon, in the more private way, and he agreed to it. We walked into the living room, hand in hand, where all the family was waiting.

“Guess what, my darling family.” I ordered them, looking at Damon, with a big grin on my face. He glanced down at me, with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. I knew that he wasn’t happy that I’d chosen to do what we’re going to do in order to help Stefan move on, but to be honest I don’t see how else I could get through to him that I wasn’t going back to him.

“What?” Bonnie asked, her eyes flickering suspiciously between the two of us.

“We’ve set a date!” I squealed. Lexi, Bonnie and Meredith joined me in my little happy dance, and Alaric and Matt slapped Damon on the back, and shook his hand in congratulations. Stefan just sat and stared.

“When is the big day?” Meredith asked.

“We were thinking next weekend. That sound good to you?” I reply, giggling again.

“Where is this ceremony going to take place? The back yard?” Lexi questioned.

I dance her around, and we laugh together.

“No. That’s the best part. Now that everything is over, we can do what I’ve always wanted. The wedding will be in Paris. Alaric and Merry can honeymoon there, then go on their travels, its perfect!”

“Paris. How romantic.” Bonnie sighed, dreamily.

“We’re also going furniture shopping for our house, so Lexi you are coming with, because you girls are going to help me!” I wink at her, letting her know I have a plan.

“I can’t believe this. You’re going to get married in Paris next weekend?” Stefan asked. I nodded, feeling slightly bad, and my mood sobering.

“Where did this come from?”

“We’d eventually gotten married anyway, Stefan, so why wait? I want to be tied to Damon in every way possible.”

“Yep. I’ve even had to buy some rope.” Damon snickered, as I smacked his arm playfully.

“What I meant was I love him, and I want the silly slip of paper that makes it official.”

“But why?”

“I. Love. Him.”

“You loved me once.” He mumbled, looking away from me.

“I did, but it wasn’t right somehow. Although I loved you so much, Damon is the missing half of me. The part I’d known wasn’t there since my parents died. You’ve got to move past this, Stefan. Someone else is the right one for you, someone else will happily be what I couldn’t be. You never know she might be,” I paused, grabbing hold of Lexi, and pushing her in front of him. “Right in front of you.”

“One thing you can count on when it comes to Elena, you know she’s as subtle as can be.” Lexi joked, crossing her arms and blushing.

Stefan looked at Lexi, and smiled. I knew it’s too soon for him, but they could be a beautiful couple. When he realises what he’s missing out on, he’ll see that Lexi is perfect for him.

“Well anyway, as I was saying, you beautiful people are going to France, and my girls are going to be my gorgeous bridesmaids!” I say, launching myself into Damon’s arms. He lifted me up, and I wrapped my legs round his waist, laughing as he spun us round once.

“So in your fairytale, princess, how does the happy ending go?”

“Me and you, living in our sweet new digs, being able to see our family, and living forever in complete happiness. Sound good?”

“Sounds good to me.”

I lazily slung my arms around his shoulders, and planted a kiss on his cheek.

“You just like the part where we live alone.” I laugh.

……………………………….....................................................................................................................

“Sooo….what’s for dinner?” Lexi asked.

“Well me and Damon are eating out, but Stefan wants you to try his vegetarian diet. So I think you’re eating either Bambi or Thumper.” I smile.

“Remember the rule you made about your mind being private, well that is now going both ways.” Stefan insisted.

“Oh and why is that? Afraid I’ll see something I shouldn’t?” I challenged, with no reply.

“So Thumper it is. As long as its not Bambi. That film gets me every time.” Lexi says, hopefully joking, but then again, I could see her watching that film. Yep, my Lexi, animal lover, and sad movie hater. I remember that when her mate was alive, Damon and I went with them on a double date to the movies. I think we watched the Notebook. I was sitting there cuddled into Damon’s side with his arm around me, and then you’ve got Lexi crying her eyes out, her boyfriend constantly passing her more tissues. It would’ve been funnier if the rest of the female population weren’t doing the same thing. I was barely paying attention to the movie, staring around the theatre in complete disbelief. It actually went through my mind that I must’ve lost my heart or something.

“We should get The Notebook on rent.” Bonnie suggested, giving me a little wink.

“Out of my head, witchy woman. I don’t want to be put through that again.” I joke, clutching a hand to my heart.

“We should have a movie night!” Lexi suggested, almost bouncing up and down in excitement. I laughed at her for a second, before I started to agree. Movie nights were fun.

“I vote a hilarious zombie movie!” I called, raising my hand. “Do I have a second?”

Damon smiled at me from his seat on the sofa, knowing that I’d want his back-up, and raised his hand.

“I want a romance.” Lexi and Bonnie moaned in unison.

“Okay, so zombie flick equals two votes, soppy chick flick equals two. Anymore suggestions?” Meredith asked, taking notes. Meredith was like that, always practical and organised.

“Zombie movie!” Alaric and Matt both voted.

“I wouldn’t mind a bit of clean romance. I’ve never really liked zombie films.” Stefan admitted.

“Well how about this…zombie flick first, then the chick flick, that way Bonnie won’t get nightmares.” Meredith suggested.

“After everything we’ve been through? I don’t think Bonnie would be scared of a zombie movie. My little red bird is as hard as nails.” Damon replied proudly, making Bonnie blush.

“I wouldn’t say that. Bonnie has always been the soft one, and that’s the way we love her. Stop trying to corrupt her innocence!” Meredith scolded him. I knew Damon would mind what he’ll say from know on. He and Meredith have one of those ‘I’m scared of you, but won’t show it ever’ relationships.

Damon held up his hands in mock surrender, and I coughed back a giggle.

“So what films? Damon and I can go steal some from a shop, because I’m guessing no one has returned yet.”

“Chick flick has to be The Notebook, or some film with Ryan Reynolds in it.” Lexi practically drools.

“I can live with that. Ryan Reynolds is hot,” I sigh, then catching a jealous look from Damon. In response, I just held up my left hand and simply pointed to my ring.

“Guys. Zombie flick?”

“Dawn of the Dead…no, 28 Days Later…no, Zombieland. It’s got Bill Murray in it, and it’s funny as hell.” Matt begged.

“I love that film. It’s the one with Woody Harrison, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone. That film is funny!” I replied, getting all excited. I love Woody Harrison, he is fricking hilarious.

“Well, then, it’s decided. Let’s go.”

Damon says, grabbing me and pulling me out the door.

“I haven’t got any shoes on!” I whined, as he then threw me over his shoulder and carried me out. I slapped his back, until I got bored and just stared at his butt instead.

“Sweetie?”

“Yes?” He replied.

“Do you work out, or diet? Or was your butt just an amazing gift from God?” I asked.

“Pervert.”

“Like you always look at my eyes, instead of my chest,” I joked, giving his bum a smack, which led to him launching my legs over his shoulder so I fell to the ground.

“You’re so abusive. It hurts my feelings when you try chucking me around like a rag doll.”

“I resent that. I’m a lover, not a fighter.” Damon insisted, helping me to my feet.

“Says the vampire who used to be a murdering monster, and who still relishes the kill.” I smirk, knowing that my comment was the winning one. Victory is sweet.

“True.”

“Which movie store are we going to?” I ask, climbing into the passenger seat of his Ferrari.

“How many is there?”

“Two. It’s a tough decision, which is why I’m asking.” I answer, sarcasm flowing through each and every word. Being engaged to the most sarcastic man on this planet is having an obvious effect on me, I’m becoming slightly more like him, and I bet he doesn’t even realise it. I’m still his Princess of Darkness, no matter what.

“Well, little miss sarcastic, where are these two movie stores?”

“I’m not little…Anyways, I think Georgia would be our best bet. We can get a bite to eat, then shop for the movies, and then drive back home.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

……………………………….....................................................................................................................

We were walking through a mall in Atlanta, Damon moaning about how much the high heels I’d forced him to ‘buy’ me had cost. To be honest, it was his fault he had to buy me shoes in the first place, he had dragged me out without letting me go upstairs to pick shoes that would coordinate with the black cotton above-the-knee dress, and black beret I was wearing. Men!

“There’s Movie Heaven, or we could walk down to Blockbuster.” Damon suggested.

“What? No more shoe shopping?” I joked. Grinning up at him, I took his hand; I had to ignore the jealous looks a lot of women were giving me. Then again he was ignoring, rather pathetically, all the men drooling at me. If I’m honest, it doesn’t piss me off that badly anymore. It’s kind of flattering.

“God no! If I get dragged into another shoe shop, I might off myself.” I just laughed, shaking my head at the floor.

“Blockbuster it is, then.”

In the end, we bought The Proposal, a rom-com with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, and Zombieland. I could feel my jaw start to ache, and I looked up at Damon. He glanced at me, and knew I was hungry.

“Food court?” I nodded in reply, letting him lead the way.

As we entered, I immediately found a young couple who looked particularly yummy. He was muscled, tan with a cute buzz cut. She was strawberry blonde, like Bonnie, but her hair fell straight with a layered fringe hanging over one eye.

“Do you see what I see?”

“Couple sitting next to the trash can? Don’t they look delicious.” He replied.

“Good enough to eat.” I joke.

“Let’s go and mingle.”

We took a slow walk over to their table and sat down, you know without being invited. The woman stared at her boyfriend, as if to say ‘do something!’. I deduced they weren’t married, or engaged even, by the fact she had no engagement or wedding band on her left hand. I smiled sweetly at the guy, dazzling him with my immense vampire beauty, and Damon did the same to the poor, poor woman.

“I’m Elena and this is Damon,” I said, extending my hand to the man, crossing my legs to draw his eyes there. It worked.

“What’s your name?”

“Rowland. This is my girlfriend Abbi.”

“Abbi. That’s a beautiful name. How’s it spelt?” Damon asked, grinning at her. Abbi blushed, taking a sip of her drink, before answering.

“A-B-B-I. Abbi with an I not a Y.”

“Well, Abbi with an I not a Y, what line of work are you in?” Damon questions, making polite conversation, before we ask them to join us for a bite. Pun intended.

“I’m a shop assistant at Victoria’s Secret.”

“Oh so, lingerie and nighties are your calling, right?” I joke, causing Rowland to cover up a chuckle with a cough.

“I like helping people pick out beautiful things to make them happy.” She snapped back.

“You’re right, I‘m sorry. I, personally, don’t see the point in them, especially where Damon is concerned, because they only end up ripped to pieces or screwed up on the floor.”

“I think it’s more a foreplay thing.” Damon came to Abbi’s defence, trying to be the gallant hero. She was falling under his spell with each word he spoke.

“What about you Rowland? What kind of work do you do?”

“Navy Seal, ma’am.”

“Ooh, navy seal. I love a man in uniform. What class are you?” I flirted with him.

“Lieutenant.”

“That’s so hot, Lieutenant.” I replied, batting my eyelashes at him.

“We were just getting something to eat at a nice restaurant just down the road from the mall, if you’d like to join us.” Damon said.

“Oh no, we wouldn’t want to intrude.” They both said at the same time. Damon and I just looked at each other.

Compel them both? I can’t really be bothered to shop around for another pair.

I told him, telepathically.

Okay.

I looked deep into Rowland’s eyes, watching his eyes dilate and contract as the compulsion kicked in. I didn’t need to look at Abbi to know she was already under, her mind was weaker than Rowland’s.

He looked confused at first, but then the awesome dazed look crept on his face, and I got up.

“So dinner it is.” I smirked.

……………………………….....................................................................................................................

I was buzzing as we entered our home, laughing, feeling much more energized after our meal. I skipped into the living room, finding too many serious faces.

“Damon, Stefan’s catching. Look at everyone’s faces,” I joked. No one looked amused, just worried. Bonnie glanced up at me, and there was fear in her eyes.

“What’s going on?”

“Lexi and Stefan went to have a look at your new place, but it was cordoned off by the police…” Meredith started.

“So…? I’ll rip the tape down, and compel the officers. No biggie.” I reply.

“Elena, Bonnie called her parents, and your Aunt and told them that the town is back to normal.” Alaric informed me.

“Please tell me Aunt Judith and Margaret are alright?!?” I pleaded. If they weren’t okay then I’d kill myself for dying again and leaving them.

“They’re fine, and so is Robert. They drove through town a couple a days ago…” Meredith started again, but again I cut her off, before she could finish.

“They didn’t go back home?”

“They were on the outskirts of town, taking the scenic route, on their way home until…” Bonnie trailed off, leaving me anxious.

“What?!”

“Until they saw you and Damon leaving your house.” Stefan answered, his green orbs glued to me, his whole body radiating worry.

Well…f**k.

............................................................................................................................................

Well here's an update. Someone asked me like last week if I was continuing this story, and I am, I'm just plenty busy at the moment with exams and this Jack Pechey Speak Out challenge I have to do at school. I have to write a speech about any topic I want, and then memorise it, then perform it infront of a hella load of people. I'm scared tbh, I'm no public speaker, but then again I probably should be able to do it. If you guys wanna give me any tips on getting over my fear then comment below. Oh and comment on what you thought of the chapter.

Do you think Lexi and Stefan will get together?

What's going to happen with Aunt Judith and the police?

DO you think Damon and Elena are getting married and how come Meredith and Alaric haven't been on their honeymoon yet?

Also, what's going on between Bonnie and Matt?

You guys tell me!! Vote, Comment, Fan, Like and Retweet for my eternal gratitude!

Much Love,

Sophie xx
