Kate's POV

          I woke up at around 10:30 in the morning, Today i turn 14!!! I was so exited. I had to be ready by 12:00 because i was meeting Damian at our secret tree. He said that he was taking me somewhere and it was a surprise.... So i am in actually in a really good mood this morning.(Surprising)I went to see my mother.

 "Good morning my little birthday girl!" she greeted me and gave me a tight hug.

"Thanks---Mother" I said in between gasps for air. 

I went to make my breakfast(A bowl of cereal) I didn't want to eat to much since Damian was taking me some where. I hope he doesn't take me somewhere super expensive, because he really doesn't need all the money in the world to impress someone like me.

"Oh and honey?" my mom called from the living room.

"Yea?" I asked back."Remember, try to see if that Damian kid knows anything about bat,an or Robin."

"Oh of course Mother" I tried to make it sound like i was exited, But i was really just sick and tired of her telling me to give Damian away, He's my best friend. and there's nothing she can do to change it.

Damian's POV

    I finally got all Kate's Birthday things together and i put them in my sweat shirt pocket.I got her A Gold necklace that said Kate, and A special charm bracelet that has i signal in it. So if she needs help she just has to push the button and it sends ma a notification.I really hope she likes it.I am planning to take her to a chocolate factory in town, then we could go to a restaurant of her choice afterwards. and Since my 'punishment is over now we could go on patrol together. I wanted to ask her but i honestly didn't know how. I was tempted to ask Dick. But then he would get cocky.So i decided to go and ask Jason what to do. I have to finish getting ready, then i will head over to Jason's apartment and get some advice before i meet Kate at our secret tree.

~~--Time skip to when Damian is at Jason's Apartment--~~

    I slowly walk up to the door,Thinking about what i should say first. I looked at the time and it was already 11:30.

"Oh Crap!" i thought quickly giving 3 firm knocks on Jason's door.  I heard a grunt then foot steps coming towards the door.

The door was cracked open, Then opened fully when Jason saw me.

"So finally decided to ditch the manor?" he asked.

"Not yet at least... listen.I need advice." I said looking down at the floor because i didn't want to see his expression when i told him i needed girl help.

 "Well glad you chose me over Dick-head, come in." he said making a clear entrance for me to come in.

 He pointed to his couch and i took a seat."So what advice do you need?" He said giving me a Confused look.

"Girls..." I could tell he barley caught. But his reaction was completely uncalled for.

"Oh Dames!!! Remember Just be yourself, oh and NEVER LIE!!" He said with wide eyes.

"Why?" I asked furrowing my brows.

"Women always, and i mean always find out the truth!"He said making sure i got everything he said. 

I check the time on my phone and it said 11:48."Ack! I'm going to be late!" I yelled all of a sudden.

"Thanks for the advice Todd!" I said as i was basically sprinting through the door. Hopefully i would get to the secret tree in time, If i was late Kate would be mad at me!

Kate's POV

    It was 11:56, I was there a little early so i decided to climb the tree, since i hadn't done that in a while, pretty much since i was 9. I was hanging up side down, then i heard the rustling of footsteps coming my way. I had do do something and something fast.I quickly pulled myself up and was leaning against the tree.Damian soon came into view and i waved to him. He waved back and gave me a tight hug and whispered happy birthday in my ear.I thanked him and he pulled a Medium sized grey box from his pocket. He handed it to me and i opened it.

  It was a charm bracelet."Thanks Damian!" I said and hugged him.

"That's not the best part" he said smirking. 

He pointed to the Robin charm and said if you push the button on this charm it will signal me if your in any trouble. " He said putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Oh that's Awesome!" I said jumping about a foot in the air.

 "That's not all" he said handing me a small white box. 

"What is it" I said as he placed the box in my hands.

"Well you'll have to open it to see" He said, I FINALLY got some type of chuckle from him. I opened the box and it was a golden necklace that said Kate, In GOLD!

I flipped out. "What?!No... I don't deserve this!" I said attempting to shove it back in his hands.

"Yes you do!" He said pushing my hand back towards me.

"after all I've put you through?!" I said surprised.

"Keep it, and besides my name isn't Kate!" He said, he took the necklace out of the box and put it on me.

"Thanks Damian, your the best friend a person could have!" I said pulling him into a tight hug.

"What now?" I said putting my hands on my hips.

"Were going to the chocolate Factory in town"He said looking in my direction.

"What!?" I said surprised once again. Come on we don't have all day. He grabbed my wrist and started pulling me towards Town.

Damian's POV

"And remember...." I thought to myself "JUST FRIENDS"  I ran it though my mind a couple more times before going any further
