'It can't be...' my connection to my grandfather is now gone. He... has already passed...

Kent Nelson, was my grandfather. Not by blood, but as a figure. He has been taking care of me since Klarion my parents since he was after me because of my powers. Just when Klarion was about to use is chaos powers to me, Kent arrived as Dr. Fate. On that day, I became his protégé even when Kent quit as Dr. Fate. But once I turn 18... I will be the next Dr. Fate.

I'm still 13 though and have nowhere else to go beside Gotham City. Kent has a house their and same to his fortunes that is now under my name. I study at Gotham Academy with a full Wayne Scholarship. Richard 'Dick' Grayson, the adopted son of Bruce Wayne, is my best friend. But I have a feeling that there is something else with Dick Grayson that I then found out 5 years later

Throughout this following years, Klarion was still after me. Before the Young Justice League arrives, I already hid myself after defeating Klarion. Nabu has been teaching me everything I need to know through my mental state. And with my connection to Nabu through the helmet, I knew that Zatara was the current Dr. Fate. Before him was Wally West, known as Kid Flash who used it because of my grandfather, then the next one was Kaldur'ahm who used it as Plan B in one of their missions. Then Zatanna, but you might already know about that one.

When I was already 18, Nabu still thinks that I'm not yet ready as the next Dr. Fate. But then there was an emergency....

"Dick, is something wrong?" I asked as he suddenly looked serious after receiving a call. I already knew his identity as Nightwing and was the first Robin of Batman because Nabu told me when he knew I was already in a relationship with him when we turned 15. I didn't told him that I knew his secret vigilante job, since I know that he doesn't want to put me in trouble. I was also deciding to break-up with him because of my predicament as the next Dr. Fate, but I don't have the heart to do it.

"Bruce needs me, ASAP" he answered. He turned to me, his hands started to clench

"If it's important, you better get going then" I said to him since I understand his duties as Nightwing is important

"I'm sorry for leaving all of a sudden again" he said as he stood up and grabbed his bag. I just shook my head

"Its fine, Dick" he smiled at me and kissed my forehead, like he always do

"I promise, next date, I won't leave in any circumstances"

"Alright, Dick. Now you better hurry. Take care will you?"

"Same goes for you"

'If only there will be a next time'

'They need you' I heard Nabu's voice in my conscience. I guess now is the time. I then used my powers that enveloped me to transport to where the team is.

They were getting defeated by Klarion as he keeps getting stronger as time comes. I then spotted Dr. Fate who was fighting against him.

"What are you doing here?!" I heard Dick exclaim in question, but I called out to Klarion

"Hey brat! I thought you were planning to get me first!" he sneered at me

"I was! But that helmet is much more important. Once I get it, I will finish you!"

"Oh really?! Because, I can defeat you, right here.... Right now" both of my hands were then covered by light

"Oh please. As if your powers can defeat me. Nelson already passed away, his powers is connected to you. If you use too much powers, just say goodbye to it" that is true though. Kent's death was connected to mine, and it will get much weaker when the time comes. My powers was really that strong, that I can't control. That's why Kent decided to connect our powers, but even though his now dead, all of his powers are now mine. But there will come a time that I will be powerless.

"How 'bout you just find out" Klarion glared at me and used a huge chaos ball that I know just lessen his powers in half.

"No!" Nightwing was about to run after me, but Batman stopped him. I then used my powers that eventually covered the whole place with light that made everyone to close their eyes

Once the light of my powers disappeared, we saw Klarion and his cat looking a bit thin. I might have gone too far with that one.

"I will come back. You hear me?! I will end you, once I get stronger" he yelled at me and to my mentor who then stood beside me. Klarion then used his remaining powers to make a portal for him and his cat to run away

"It's my time now, right?" I asked my mentor

"It is" I sighed

"I'll make the most of it then. I'm also sure that Zatara as well" I said to him as he removed the helmet and gave it to me

"Are you really sure about this?" Zatara asked me

"I was trained for this. Now, you need to be with her" I then looked at his daughter who was staring at his father with tears in her eyes. I nodded to Zatara and he rushed to his daughter, for them to be finally reunited. I turned to the helmet that is now in my hands

"Wasn't expecting you to be Dr. Fate's protégé" Dick commented when he was walking towards me

"You did say I was mysterious" we both shared a grin. I then saw him staring at the helmet

"Do you really have to?" he asked

"It really has been my duty since he taught me"

"I really wasn't expecting this, you know. But, you are a woman after all and Dr. Fate's a man, so... uhhh...." I started laughing since he just can't stop with all the blabbering

"This is one of the reason why I have magic to cover it all up" he just blushed and we shared a laugh. I then turned to Batman.... He already knows.

"Since when did you know?"

"When we started our relationship. Nabu warned me about you. I just decided not to confront you about it, but I did keep it a secret"

"So that's why Dr. Fate threatened me" I heard him mutter

"Will you be back though, as the real you?"

"You will know when the time comes" I gave him a peck in the lips but he just kept on pulling me towards him. I was the one who pulled away, stepping a few more. I smiled at him putting the helmet above my head

"I'll wait for you" was the last thing I heard once I became Dr. Fate

"I told you I will be back. Much stronger as before" he has to come back just when my powers were getting weak. What a damn coincidence!

"What's the matter, Nabu? She can't take it anymore?!" Klarion taunted

"That's what you think!" my protégé exclaimed. He is only 14 and he was already strong. He was an orphan when I found him with Zatanna, Zatara and Constantine. He was intrigued with the mystic arts, I saw potential with him that made me decide to be his mentor. I contacted Batman about him and helped me with his needs, mostly not the wants.

"I knew I should have killed the brat" Klarion commented as he was dodging my protégé's attacks

"Shut up! I'm more of a grown-up than you. You're already.... What? A thousand year old?" my protégé and his comments

"You shut up!" Klarion used his powers and I used my last remaining power to create a shield to them team who just arrived

"In the end, I kicked his butt!" my protégé said proudly

'Nabu, he is still too young for this' I said to him

'I know. But it's already time'

'Are you sure'

'It's his duty now'

I then removed the helmet and looked at my young protégé

"It's time for me to take it off of your hands huh?" he asked curiously

"You don't have to do this. I can ask Constantine to keep this for you once you turn 18" I said to him

"They need Dr. Fate. And you can't be him since your powers is gone. Besides, his waiting" he pointed to Nightwing. Seven years and he still waited

"I am ready for this. You trained me for this. I will make you proud" I ruffled his hair and handed the helmet to him. He then gave me a piece of paper

"He requested for me to give it to you" I smiled at him. He raised the helmet above his head

"The both of you will wait for me, right?" I nodded

"You did become my little brother. Same goes to his brothers. We will wait for you" he showed me a toothy grin before he transformed as Dr. Fate

"Please take care of him"

"... I will"

"Where is he?" I then looked at my watch, waiting for him to where we were supposed to meet after seven long years

"He should be here by now!" I exclaimed and took a sip of my tea

"You ordered without me? Where's mine?" Finally!

"I was waiting for you, you dork! You took your time. And as if I will order yours, order your drink yourself"

"Sarcastic as ever. And hey, I'm the one who waited long enough for you. So, should I pop the question now?"
