"Zatanna!"
Panting, I wake up drenched in my own sweat, sitting up as I awaken to find myself in a dark room with bloody walls and on a bed with dirty sheets. "Robin, are you alright?" Aqualad asks. He's closing some cabinets, and I notice a glass shard on the table next to him. I nod. How did I end up in here?
The last thing I remember is walking with Zatanna at the Cave, on the way to see Wally, when somebody started attacking me, insanely fast and giving me cuts and bruises in seconds. I could feel myself loosing blood, and fast. The last thing I remember before blacking out is Zatanna's scream of horror.
"So... Care to explain what we're doing here?"
He shakes his head "I'm just as clueless as you, my friend. When I heard you were attacked and were in the watchtower, I was on the way to visit you but after I entered the zeta tube, instead of the watchtower, I ended up here. It's apparently a school of sorts, but I am unable to open any windows, and the place seems ready to fall apart at any moment. I found you unconscious in one of the rooms and grabbed you."
I look at the glass shard, and back at Aqualad, curious.
"I didn't have any weapons, and some... Demon attacked me. It was in the form of a girl and I barely managed to escape, but it's hand fell off when I slammed the door shut. I used the shard of glass to pierce it."
Oh. So we're in a haunted school. Well that's just swell. It's probably some magic at work, since it managed to get Kaldur while he was on the way to the watchtower. If both of us were here, The others were probably around in the school. After all, it would be weird for only two of us to be in here.
"Well.. We should go look around..." Aqualad stopped me from getting up. "No. You need rest, Robin. I have already taken a look around here, and what seems to be the main door is sealed shut. I have not yet checked the second floor, but it is dangerous to leave. The demon may be lurking around and we can't get attacked with you in that condition."
I frown. He has a point, but we need to find a way out of here and to the others. And fast. My body aches from the bruises, and I can feel the bandages around me. I'm pretty sure my ankle is sprained as well.
"I'll survive. We just need to get out of here as fast as possible and get to the others. we can take a first-aid kit along to change my bandages and everything. We'd only be looking around..." Aqualad frowns.
"And if we get attacked again? I doubt I would be able to defend us with a... Shard of glass..."
I grin. "Then how about this convenient knife I store inside my boots for situations like this?"
Kaldur stares at me incredulously.
"Get the First-Aid kit from the table next to you...I'll help you up."
------
The corridor was empty, thank goodness, Yet the sight of it gave Me the chills. Blood was splattered on the walls, and it smelt of decay and death. There's a skeleton propped up against the wall, and I swear I saw a Maggot crawling out of what used to be it's eye socket. The floorboards creaked eerily as we walked -well, hobbled- and they looked like they would give out underneath us at any moment.
This place would give Batman the chills. And he was Batman.
We walked past many rooms, and it was easy to tell it was a school. There were lockers right outside the nurse's office, which led to a main door, and true to kaldur's words, it was locked shut. We passed the toilets and Kaldur decided to walk on the other side of the corridor, trying to avoid the entrance of the toilet as much as possible. Fine by me. As long as we don't get killed by a giggling ghost girl hungry for our blood, as Kaldur had described her.
The staircase is at the end of the whole level. We pass classroom after classroom, and we look inside all of them. Nothing much besides tables and chairs all over the place and chicken scratch on the white boards. Most of what we can read seems to be written in blood and is mostly someone's dying message or an ominous note that everybody's going to die, or something along those lines. We try all the windows and doors. Nothing moves.
Then I see the library. Inside are shelves upon shelves of books, and we enter. It's creepy, cold and extremely dusty. Did I mention creepy? Thirst starts to nag at my mind, and I notice how dry my throat is. How long have we been in here? It seems so dark outside and there are no clocks in here. For all we know the sun won't come out and we won't be able to tell the time. It seems suitable for a haunted school.
As we scan the different shelves, I see a particular book that catches my eye. I grab it. It's torn and tattered, and when I open the book, there's dust everywhere. It's a diary of some sort. As I flip through, the handwriting slowly changes from relatively neat to messy and nearly unreadable, as if whoever wrote it was slowly losing their mind...
I stop at a random page on the book. The handwriting is distorted, and messy, and there is dry blood splattered at the sides of the pages.

Entry 30
Everybody's dead. They either got killed by the monsters of the ghosts and I don't know what to do. I'm so thirsty. So so so thirsty. And so very hungry. I don't know how long we've been here, but I'm the only one left. Is this how my life will end? With no food, no water, just slowly starving? I would rather be killed by the monsters. And I'm so so so desperate for anything to keep my alive. I would even eat myself. But there is still something. I can still do something. I have my friends. They will help me. I only hope they forgive me. I always wondered what we tasted like. I guess I will find out. Please forgive me friends, but I need to do it. I need to. I'm so hungry. So hungry. So thirsty. I... I...

The rest of the entry is too messy to read.
I frown. Okay. That's... Disturbing. I call Aqualad over, and we start reading from the first entry.

Batman was yelling at everyone. You could see the worry despite the mask he wore, a huge contrast to his usual poker face. Cheshire stood next to Artemis, concern on her face as she absently rubbed her swollen stomach, clutching the hand of her pale sister.
Conner, M'gann and Kaldur had also fallen prey to the mishap, and were also unconscious, their minds lost. Zatanna was no where to be found. Dick (I mean Robin), Wally and Artemis were also in the same room, and Martian Manhunter was busy monitoring everybody's vitals. The watchtower was in a frenzy as the heroes discussed what had happened to their protégés.
A figure stood back, and watched, grinning.
