"Kara!" 

Should I stay or should I go?

I don't know! The voice just sounded familiar in a bad way though. Too young to be an adult and definitely feminine.

I reluctantly crawled from my hideaway and spotted a distraught looking brunette  chewing her nails. Followed by a girl who wore her midnight black hair in a scrunchie and a crop top saying somethk g spanish maybe french, then another red headed pink cheeked girl who turned her shoelaces into a hairband with those funny band things you wear on your wrist, loom bands!

Besides the crappy outfit choice they seemed to be laughing at the brunette, oh, the brunette well, she was Starlight.

"So, where did you get that thing?!" the scrunchie girl asked pointing to Starlights necklace.

"Yeah Tina, it looks a little old don't cha think?" The loom band asked laughing and making another snide comment.

Who's Tina? Wait, is that Starlight?

I peered at Starlight (or Tina) who - normally the brave bitchy girl I knew - looked like she was going to burst into tears.

I mean, come on girl, it's only a bunch of stupid girls making fun of your outfit, did you see what they were wearing?!

"Hey!" the scrunchie said "Who are you?" That was possibly and most likely directed at me of course.

I headed towards the three of them a bit more and scrunched up my nose the way Starlight did at me.

"Kara, problem?" I said my stomach butterflies restlessly fluttering.

She looked  little taken back at first but then her smug face returned "Wow, the newbie is a fiesty one." The loom band laughed, well forced laughed.

Starlight gave me a pleading look possibly saying 'Don't mess with them!'. Sorry Starlight, but you know me, a bit? Well I'm taking it from here!

"Just leave-" my hands sweated nervously "-Tina alone!"

"Sorry blondie, but us and Tee are having a lil' fun here!" Scrunchie replied "Isn't that right Tee?"

Loomie the loom band started up the forced laughter and Scrunchie turned to Starlight and flicked her cheek with her chipped nail. Starlight took the wrong move and grabbed her wrist, scrunchie looked appalled that the 'victim' was sticking up for herself.

Then Scrunchie slapped her and that is my particular job! So I had to step in grabbing scrunchies shirt and holding her in not-exactly-a-threatening-way.

"Get off!" she tried to squirm out of my grip, obviously that didn't work until I let her go and the fell on her booty. 

"Come on Tanya, let's go." Loomie ushered pulling scrunchie up and they headed up the stairs before glaring at me and Starlight.

I turned to Starlight who hid her face behind her hair. I assumed she'd be fine so I left but first asked if she was okay. 

"Go away!" she said before hurrying away.

A thank you would've done.
