"What?" Inertia looked around, "wh-what... The bomb..." He grabbed the chair Barbara was strapped to and inspected the bomb, "it's deactivated?! But... When? How?"

"Wally...?" Nightwing called into the comm, "was that you?"

"Nope." Wally replied, "I'm still speedless, remember?"

"But..." He glanced back and saw Jet, Wonder Girl, and Beast Boy fly in, then Speedy and Night Owl ran over to join him, "you two, get Barbara out of here."

"Right." Night Owl nodded, then turned to Speedy, "cover me."

"Got it!"

The two ran towards Inertia, and before he could do anything Speedy shot him with a tranquilizer arrow.

"Ha! Useless!" Inertia yanked the arrow out of his arm and threw it over the edge of the building.

Speedy stared in horror, "Crap! Night Ow--"

Inertia threw her to the side, but when he reached to get Night Owl, she'd vanished, along with Barbara, "where are you..."

"Don't underestimate us!" Jet yelled and threw a hard punch at the back of his head, hitting him dead-on.

"You children are such annoying pests..." Inertia growled, "don't think you can get away with this!"

He took off, running around the group and keeping them in one area.

"Wonder Girl!"

"On it, Nightwing!" Wonder Girl clenched her fist and flew forward, cutting Inertia off. He suddenly rebounded and came back around. 

"Can't get rid of me that easily..." Inertia rammed into Wonder Girl, sending her into the wall of the parking garage. Just as she did, the entire concrete building trembled. 

"Nightwing..." Jet called Nightwing over, "we need to ditch. Blow after blow, Inertia could just be..." 

Dangit... He's right. Nightwing turned to the team, "guys! Forget Inertia! We need to get out of here, fast!" 

"Oh no, you don't!" Inertia cackled as he started running at top speed, hemming the teens inside the building. 

"Wonder Girl..." Jet looked frantically for her, "where is she?" 

"Over here..." Wonder Girl coughed as she weakly walked over to them, "I-I'm fine..." 

Nightwing glanced around, "did Barbara make it out okay?" 

"Night Owl." Jet pressed the button on his comm, "Night Owl, do you copy?" 

No response. 

"What the..." Wally's voice ringed in the comm, "guys? Barbara and Speedy are back here at the cave, but..." 

"What?!" Nightwing and Jet stared at each other, "but..." 

Just before they could say anything else, two lightning bolts flashed into the scene to join the team at the center of the vortex as a third lightning bolt ran into Inertia's path and threw him against the building's concrete wall, making the building rumble once again. 

Wonder Girl coughed, "Reverse Flash... And Cobalt Blue... Wh-what...?!" 

"Impulse!" Jet stared on, "Where did you come from?"

"We're here to help you."

Nightwing clenched his fist, "You idiots! What makes you think after all you've--"

"Calm down!" The brunette stepped forward, "Nightwing, I know this is hard to believe, but I need you to trust me for just a second. I mean, after all..." 

The bomb... Nightwing thought back to the bomb strapped to Barbara's chair, "That was you, wasn't it?" 

"Don't trust him, Nightwing." 

He glanced back at Jet whose glare never left the traitor's, "Jet. You're a natural team leader, but for the time being, I call the shots." Jet looked at the ground as Nightwing nodded in Impulse's direction, "okay." 

Impulse nodded, "Cobalt Blue, Reverse Flash, and I'll take care of Inertia." 

"No, wait, kid." Reverse Flash grabbed his arm, "we'll take care of Inertia. You just get everyone out of here." 

"W-wait, no." Impulse remembered the file that he'd found and everything it contained, "no, you guys can't stay here with Inertia by yourselves." 

"You're our only hope, Impulse." Cobalt Blue stopped him, "forget us. You're the only one fast enough to stop him now." 

"Impulse, they're right." Nightwing called, "we need to get out. Leave it to them." 

"Team leader's orders." Reverse Flash chuckled, "now get outta here." 

Impulse shut his eyes and gripped his hands into fists, "tch..." 

Inertia cackled as he began running circles around the group once again. 

"You're losing your chance, now go!" 

Without further arguing, Reverse Flash and Cobalt Blue took off after Inertia, a frenzy of blue, yellow, red, and green lightning bolts flashing around them. 

"Wally!" Nightwing called over the comm, "we're heading back."

"Dang it..." Bart rubbed his head and stared down at the floor. He sat, awaiting orders in the living room of the cave, "I really screwed up big time..." 

"Yeah, you did." Wally gave his former partner a sideglance, swallowing hard at the inhibitor collar around the rogue speedster's neck, "listen, even though I'm close with Dick, you gotta take whatever punishment you're given. Even..." 

"Even if it's to be sent to prison, I know." Bart sighed, "but you also gotta hear me out. You have to let me deal with this Inertia situation before anything else, anything. Lives of our own could be on the line." 

"Lives of our own? Or your life?" 

"Wall-man, come on--" 

"I know about the fifth-generation curse, Bart. I'm willing to try anything, but there are boundaries. You've overstepped that boundary--" 

Bart stood up, tears welling in his eyes, "Wally! This is a matter of rules or following what your gut tells you! We're family! Maybe not directly or by blood, but we're both brothers in the speed force! What if I just died right here? Let the speed force take my life?! Could you live with that, knowing that you followed the rules at the cost of your partner?!" 

Wally pursed his lips and avoided eye contact with the younger speedster. Bart sniffled and wiped his eyes on the sleeves of his jacket. 

"Bart." 

The two turned to see Nightwing and Batman walk up to the pair, "Bart, we need to have a word with you." 

"I know." Bart breathed heavily as he glanced back at Wally then turned to leave with them.

"Wally? Wally!" Jaime ran through the hallway leading into the living room and up to Wally, "was that Bart?" 

"Yeah. It might be a little bit until we get to see him again." 

"Oh, there was, ah... Inertia left a little something outside the entrance of Happy Harbor..." 

Wally gave him a look of concern before turning away, "cave computer, pull up any footage of suspicious activity near the cave." 

A holographic screen appeared in front of him and Jaime. The footage that played back made both men go pale.

ALRIGHT pals

It's been, what, two or three years? 

Well, it's been FOREVER. 

Long story short, we got what we wanted: Young Justice Season 3. Not only that, we got Season 4 (WHATTTTTT ;-; ~happy sobs)

I'm slowly losing my motivation to write this since now we know things that aren't entirely canon in this fanfic, so things get weird and complicated. 

Another thing, like I said, it's been FOREVER. I don't remember the majority of this story, but I'll try my HARDEST to remember and at least finish this book out! For whoever's still reading these, I love you SO much and apologize GREATLY for the long wait! Hopefully, the wait is over, and it's time to finish this baby up!
