Episode/Chapter 24 - Marriage Impulses

Everything is back to normal. The Titans took their Red X back to their era, the entire Light minus Vandal Savage was sent back to Belle Reve, but after going back to their era, the Titans came back. And this time, the Flock stayed a little while longer as well, because there was an event happening at the cave that no one wanted to miss.

"Where is he?! He can't be late! He's a speedster!!" Christine was pacing back and forth as she waited for Bart.

"Oh, he went to visit the future, see if anything's happened there." Wally told her as he adjusted his bow tie, "uh, how's this?"

"Crooked." Christine smirked as she adjusted it and made it straight. Then she stood back and twirled, "how's this?"

"Your bow's backwards." Wally laughed as he put on his black tux jacket. He went behind her and adjusted her bow yellow silk bow. She wore a light green satin dress with a yellow silk bow tied around her waist.

"Thanks Wally! Man, you're like the brother I never really had."

"You're like the sister I never really had." Wally smiled.

"Look, as my brother, I can trust you with this question, right?"

"Of course."

"Is Bart okay? I'm just really worried about him..."

"The kid's fine. Don't worry." Wally put his hand on Christine's shoulder, and they smiled.

"But if he's not here, who do I walk down with?"

"... You can walk down with Total." Wally laughed.

"Max's talking dog with wings?! Nah, I'm good..." Christine chuckled, "better get going... Wouldn't want to be late..."

Wally nodded as he and Christine ran out of his room, "Yep. Let's go."

(I think this song totally goes with the story! I don't, that's just me, but you guys can try listening to this as you read this part!)

Wally stood at the front of the cave with the pastor, watching as the team's, the Titans's, and the Flock's couples made their way down the aisle.

First was Tim and Stephanie, TTRobin and Starfire, Conner and M'gann, Jason and Cass, Alex and Olivine, Fang and Max, Jaime and Kara, and finally, Dick and Barbara.  As they all parted, Wally scanned the crowd. The Justice League and the rest of the team, along with his parents were there too. This was the day he's been waiting for all his life. He turned to look at his best man, Dick Grayson, who just sent him a thumbs-up. Before he knew it, the audience stood up as the love of his life slowly made her way down the aisle with Oliver Queen. Artemis Crock looked gorgeous with hair hair curled and in a messy bun, with her veil cascading down to the hem of her lace dress. Their eyes locked, and she they knew that they were about to make the decision of a lifetime. He took her hand as they walked up to the front. All the talking went by as blurs, and it felt to them like they were the only people in the world.

"Now it's time to exchange vows." The pastor said, "Mr. West, you can start."

"O-okay..." Wally smiled nervously as he adjusted his collar. He'd spent hours with Dick memorizing it, "Artemis Lian Crock. I still clearly remember when I first met you, and I do remember that I really had it against you since you were supposedly taking over Roy's spot on the team." Wally turned to the audience and saw Roy chuckled from his seat next to Oliver. He turned back to Artemis, who had a huge smile on her face, "after a year, we finally grew closer as acquaintances, then friends, and now, seven years later, we're here. Before the team, the Titans, the Flock, the League, ready to make the decision of a lifetime. I promise to share my food with you in the future, as hard as it is, I promise to never keep anything from you, because I know we can get through anything together. I also promise to be your punching bag after a frustrating day on duty or when I make a horrible mistake. I promise not to hurt you any way, because you're the love of my life. You're my love, and you're my life. I really don't know what I'd do without you."

Artemis was near tears as he concluded his vow. She pulled out a piece of paper and chuckled a little, "I haven't memorized mine as well as you did yours... Haha. Well, we've made it, Wally. We've made it through endless sleepless school nights, and mostly sleepless nights without you." Wally hadn't even considered his disappearance for an entire year, "I've loved you forever, and I will continue to do so from here on out. I will definitely have faith and believe in you, and I promise to be patient with you on the toughest days on the team. I promise to make you lots of food and to comfort you when things don't go right. I'll be your partner forever, we'll fight crime side by side, as my friend, my acquaintance, my partner, my 'Baywatch', my forever love, and my dear husband."

Wally smiled as he took her hands again.

"So without further ado, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." The pastor finally said. Wally pulled Artemis into his arms and they kissed for what felt like forever. Everyone applauded the newly-weds as they stood up and cheered. When they finally pulled away, Wally turned to Dick, who walked up to him and gave him a hug.

"I present to you, for the first time ever," the pastor announced as Artemis held Wally's hand and they faced the crowd, "Artemis and Wally West."

They made their way down the aisle, and once they made it to the back, they hugged each other tightly, never letting go.

"This is our new beginning." Artemis smiled.

"You bet." Wally smiled as they kissed again.

"You're sure?" Dick asked Christine after she pulled him aside from the reception three hours later, "are you sure he didn't just get back and Zeta somewhere?"

"I'm sure! He said he'd be back in time for the reception three hours ago..." Christine said, "and I checked who's been in and out lately, and he's not on the list."

"Then what if--"

"Warning." The cave computer interrupted Dick from finishing his sentence, "unknown energy impulse detected."

"That's him!" Christine smiled as bolts of energy were appearing before her and onto the ground at the center of the briefing room.

They waited for the time machine to appear before jumping to conclusions. It finally appeared, but no one jumped out.

"Bart?" Christine called. No answer. She turned to Dick, who nodded, giving her permission to check. She walked up to the machine, pulled the lever, and opened the door. Smoke spewed out, and Christine waved her hand in front of her face to fan away the smoke. She peeked in, then gasped at the sight.

"Chris? You okay?" Dick asked. She covered her mouth as she started turning pale.

"G-get Wally... GET WALLY!!!" Christine ordered. Dick stared at her, but did it. He ran to the other room, and a minute later, came back with Wally.

"Chris! What's going on? Is Impulse back?" Wally asked as they ran up to the machine.

"Help me get him out..." Christine cried, then Wally and Dick gasped when they saw the blood on her dress. The two helped Christine pick Impulse up and lay him on the ground. He was covered in blood, most likely his, because he had a huge gash in both his legs which were angled in different angles, most likely badly broken. He had both black eyes, broken teeth, broken ribs, and cuts all over his body.

"Bart! Bart, can you hear us?!" Dick called.

"He's not responding. But he's got a really slow pulse. He's barely alive..." Wally said as he felt Bart's pulse.

>> Miss Martian, we need you here now... << Dick called telepathically. A minute later, she appeared next to them.

"To the infirmary?" She asked.

"Yeah. Go." Dick nodded, then noticed something, "WAIT."

The three turned to Dick to see him walk over to the time machine and pick up a letter attached to the wall. It was splattered with blood.

"What does it say?" Wally asked.

Dick read it, gasped, then turned to look at Impulse. He showed the note written in Impulse's blood to Wally, Christine, and M'gann:

"The Fifth Generation must be Eliminated."
