Oneshot 6: The Rainy Day Games

A/N: I kinda pulled this little idea together one night, when we were having heavy storms, where I live. Please, enjoy!

A crackle of thunder popped loudly outside the Cave, as the rain began to pour in drenches down the long windows. The Team was sitting in the kitchen, eating some of M'gann's cookies, when the wretched rain started to fall. Wally was the first to complain, saying, "Man, I'm sooo bored! I hate it when it rains. There's nothing to do!" M'gann suggested, "We could all play some games... I saw it in an episode of Hello Megan! They had a huge storm like this, and played games, and ate popcorn all afternoon. It'll be fun!" Wally agreed, "Yeah, we could totally do that! Sweet thang, you're the best!" Kaldur said, "M'gann is right. It would be such a shame to waste such a perfectly good day, being bored." Artemis groaned, and said sarcastically, "That doesn't sound like fun, as much as it does torture. Having to socialize and find things to talk about, that aren't about beating up villains, isn't exactly the kind of thing I had in mind." "Oh, come on Artemis! Please!", M'gann cried. The blonde shook her head, and responded firmly, "N-O." She stalked off, and the Team watched her leave. M'gann turned to Conner, and said, "Conner, do you want to play games with us?" The clone kept his frown, but said, "I guess." Robin walked in, and asked, "What are you guys talking about?" Wally answered his best friend, and said, "We're gonna play some games. Wanna join?" Robin responded, with a smirk, "You bet!" M'gann beamed at the teammates getting excited over her idea. This was gonna be a good day. She just knew it!

Just a few minutes later, the participating teammates were seated in a large circle in the center of the living/TV room. All of the furniture had been pushed aside, thanks to Conner's strength. With Robin in the kitchen, getting the popcorn, because no one wanted it burned, M'gann levitated out a few games that she thought would be fun. When the popcorn was done, it was brought in three bowls: one for Kaldur and Robin to split, one for M'gann and Conner to split, and a whole one for Wally, just because he insisted on having his own, because of his 'serious metabolism'. Seated together, they voted on the first game to be Monopoly. As Robin and Wally explained the rules to those who weren't used to the game, ie... Atlantian, Martian, and Kryptonian alike, it seemed simple to them, hearing it for the first time. However, it wasn't actually that easy. For some reason, Robin seemed to gain every spot, and kept racking up the cash. M'gann gasped, after losing her last dollar to the Boy Wonder, "Wow, Robin! You're really good at this game! How'd you get so good?" The Bird looked to the speedster on his left, both knowing the secret behind how he was so good. Neither said a word.

When the game ended, with Robin having practically all of the spots, they decided to move onto something less tricky: Bananagrams. When the letters were sprawled out, Kaldur read the instructions. They were to make words using the twenty-one tiles they had chosen. If they finished with all of their tiles, they had to say, "Peel." If they had to get rid of a letter, they would have to say, "Dump", then grab three additional tiles to replace the dumped one. Whoever won, with all of the tiles being gone, and real words in their crossword, would have to say, "Bananagrams", to let the others know they finished. Then, the others would check for accurate words. In the beginning, everyone was sure Kaldur would win, and he did. Conner, getting so angry at the fact that he lost in a game titled with the name of his most hated creature's favorite snack, threw his pieces around. They put that game away quickly, as M'gann tried to calm down the angered clone.

About this time, Artemis had grown bored with being alone in her room. She had heard laughter from the living room, and even though she had resisted for the longest time, she realized she couldn't anymore. Dreading every second, she came out, and watched as her teammates readied the next game they were gonna play: Skip-Bo. She saw them deal the cards, and asked if she could join in. M'gann said, "Sure!", and Artemis sat down between Robin and Wally. When the cards were dealt, they began to play. Each placed a card down, and they had to work to get to the number twelve. Artemis played competitively, knowing she was the queen of the game. It was no wonder, when she claimed victory over her teammates. Even though she tried to hide her joy, it was hard, and she ended up cracking open a smile. Relaxing, Artemis realized how nice it was, just to break free, and have nothing to do, but be with the people she considered as her family.

The Team kept playing games and joking around, until Conner said suddenly, "The rain stopped." Everyone turned to look out the window, and in between the grey clouds, was a small sliver of sunlight peeking through. Everyone ran to the window, and looked out at the sun. Artemis got to her feet, and instead of going to the window, she went to the fridge, and grabbed a bottle of water. Wally met her in there, and said, "Artemis... I uh, wanted to congratulate you on your win. Glad you decided to join us." The blonde replied, lying to the speedster, out of embarrassment for the hair raising feeling she had in her gut, "Thanks, Wally, but I didn't join to have fun. I joined to prove that life isn't fun, and that we don't get a break as heroes." The speedster blushed, and responded, "Still, good job." Artemis grumbled, and kept the frown on her cheeks. "You know, you should smile more. Let down your hair. Stay relaxed, cause it looks good on you. And you could have more fun, if you let down your guard.", Wally said, as he left. He added, "Just a suggestion...", then walked out into the living room again. Artemis let the words echo through her head. Let her hair down? Smile more? Sighing, Artemis left, and went to her room again, unable to face anyone with all the thoughts going through her head, especially Wally.

A/N: So yeah, that's my little idea.... I hope you all enjoyed, and thank you to everyone who has been voting on these oneshots! Please send me in your ideas, if you've got one, that you'd like to see me do on here! Thank you again, and have a good day/night!
