Oneshot 16: The Halloween Curse (Part 2) -
A/N: After a several month hiatus, which I am so sorry for, I have finally worked on the second half of this story! Work has been super crazy for me, and with the holidays and going out of town, I've hardly had the time to update anything. Plus, dating is now a pretty important part of my life now too, so there have been nights where I usually would update, that have been spent at the movies with my boyfriend. Anyway, one of my New Years resolutions was to get back into writing, and I will try to keep my resolution to update more frequently. This may be several months past the due date, but I hope you all will enjoy it still the same!
While Zatanna was searching for a way to reverse Klarion's curse on the Team, the others were trying to get used to their new looks. Wally and Robin were seated on the couch, and the poor ginger had an itchy spot he just couldn't reach..and in a place he had never been itchy before...behind his new large furry ears. He looked to Robin, who reluctantly, after hearing what was almost a whine, began to rub his best friend's ears, thus making him act more on his newfound werewolf instincts, or rather, dog-like. The vampire quietly did so, until he noticed Artemis staring at them.
Artemis rolled her eyes at the two, and moved out of the room. She slipped into her bedroom, and stared in front of a mirror at herself. The snakes that had replaced her long, golden hair hissed loudly in her ear, and she stroked one back. She wondered if the legend was true; if Medusa's hair, eyes, and powers would make someone turn to stone. She smirked, knowing exactly whom she wanted to test her theory on. She walked out, calling, "Oh Wally...", and smirked. When he saw her face, he knew what she was thinking, so he did the one thing dogs and werewolves are great at...running. He broke into a hard run, screaming for her to stop. She followed him, and when she finally had him cornered, she tried to release the 'turn people to stone' trick, but it did no harm at all. She was puzzled. Then it hit her roughly...literally.
Conner rammed into her, as payback for what she had been thinking of doing to his friend, and sent her sprawling to the ground. He grunted, and M'gann tried her best to soothe his wrath, but kept fading into a ghostly shadow. He looked at her, when she was somewhat visible, and sighed. "Sorry.", he grumbled, looking at Artemis, after seeing that M'gann wanted him to apologize. He backed away quietly, following the ghostly appearance of his girlfriend. Artemis got up, and glared at Wally. He blushed slightly behind the red fur on his cheeks. "And to think I had the thought to turn you to stone, West, but apparently these snake powers don't work on other affected monsters.", the snaky haired archer snarled. She stalked off, her hair hissing as she went. Wally stumbled up, as Robin flew over in bat form, then changed back into his human state. "Come on, man... Let's see if there are any peanut butter cookies in the kitchen. Dogs, and definitely werewolves, can have those.", the vampire smiles toothily. Wally grinned back, and the two raced into the kitchen, one on his two furry feet, and the other flying in.
Meanwhile, Conner and M'gann had moved from the living room to the gym, so that Conner could vent with his anger issues. He laid blow after powerful blow to the punching bag, and sent it flying back and forth, while M'gann stood close, nearly invisible. Despite being a ghost, she could still reach out, and Conner could still feel her hands and presence when she was near. She waited, until the bag was heavily beaten, to come over and sit down next to her beastly boyfriend. Conner grunted, and M'gann grabbed his large hand, and squeezed gently. "Conner, I know this is all new to you, this whole world is, I mean. And this spell that has all of us trapped as monsters makes you angrier...but you have to try to remain calm. I know you're not a beast at heart. You need to let them see that.", she responded, soothingly. "Why does she hurt my friends?", he asked, with a growl. "That, I don't know...", she whispered in his ear, before kissing him gently on the cheek. He slightly smiled, but mostly frowned, as she sat side by side with him, in the moment of just them being alone in the room.
Kaldur had found himself constantly in the pool, which wasn't unusual for him..considering he was originally an Atlantian. However, instead of how he usually swam with his legs, he now had a massive tail as his behind. He had figured out how to use it within the first hour, and was now swimming about, feeling free, as he did when he was in the ocean with his king and his people. Soon enough, Zatanna entered the pool room, and sat in one of the chairs on the side, in her hands the spell book she had been studying. "I don't understand!", she exclaimed, "There has to be a spell in here that is powerful enough to break dark magic!" Kaldur swam up to the side of the pool, and said, in a leader sounding tone, "What is the matter, Zatanna?" The girl looked at him, and said, "I'm never going to be as good as my father is... He knows how to break a spell like this and I hardly know how to use magic as good as he does." "Zee?", Robin asked, entering the room, "You and I both know you can do this. There has to be one in there...somewhere. None of us can stay like this forever."
Robin came over to her, and helped peel through the pages of the old spell book. "We have to fix this transformative spell.", she said. Suddenly, the book flew out of her hands, and went through the air, the pages turning on their own! As fast as it had gone up, it flew down, and landed at her feet. Zatanna picked it up, with Robin over her shoulder as a bat, and she saw what she was looking for. She exclaimed, "Here's one! We found one! A spell to fix this! Robin, can you get the others and bring them in here?" Her voice rose with excitement, as she looked at the bat over her shoulder. Robin gave a nod, and flew out towards the others. He came into the living room, the gym, and even braved entering Artemis' room to declare the news. Zatanna had found a spell that gave them a good chance at becoming themselves again. They all had to meet her and Kaldur in the pool room. All as once, everyone ran, and when they were all together, united in the room, she declared, "It's time to reverse Klarion's spell."
A/N: I hope you guys enjoyed Part 2, and loved it as much as I loved writing it for you. As well as everything I mentioned above, another reason I wasn't updating, was because I've been suffering from severe writer's block, and had no idea where this was headed. Now that I have a fresh start, expect more oneshots! If you enjoyed this part, and have stuck around to see where this was headed, as a loyal reader, please consider leaving a vote or comment on your thoughts. Thanks everyone, and try to stay whelmed, because....
