Chapter 60

Groaning she tried to get into her room as Jade moved in front of the door. "Going on a date with that red headed idiot huh?" She asked with a sly smirk as Artemis blushed a light pink. Brushing a strand of blonde hair behind her ear she looked up at her sister. "I don't really think its a date" she said as Jade took her arm and dragged Artemis to her and Roy's room. The room was really big, almost as big as Oliver's room. Walls painted a rose red, green queen sized bed and other roomy essentials.

She cocked an eyebrow out of confusion. "How did you know he asked me to go somewhere anyways?" She asked as Jade froze in place. A plain expression made its way to her sisters face. "Jade" she warned as Jade's eyes darted around the room. "What? I have eyes and ears everywhere" Jade said with a wink as Artemis growled. "So why are we in here?" She asked after awhile of watching Jade's expressionless face. "Oh so Roy told me that I should have a baby shower, how do I do that?" She asked as Artemis face palmed.

She knew that Jade was never girly or ever even planning to have a child but here her sister was being pregnant. "Here's Megan's number, call her up she will gladly help out" Artemis said before checking the time and nearly paling. Scurrying to the washroom she jumped in the shower once again just to make sure she was clean. "Why am I even getting ready? I'm just going to a movie with Wally. Wait is it intended to be a date?" She asked herself while drying her long blonde hair.

Her steel grey eyes glanced over at the clock every couple of minutes. Sitting on the bench in front of the mirror still wrapped in her towel she stared at her face. There was one old curling iron that she hardly ever touched just sitting on the white vanity in front of the mirror. "While this heats up I'll get something to wear" she said plugging the curling iron in and walking over to her closet. Within the hour she finally finished doing her makeup, hair and getting changed into something she didn't hate.

Looking into the mirror she fixed her now curled blonde hair onto either side of her shoulders. Artemis even went as far as painting her nails an aqua blue. Well she didn't paint them Dinah did. Artemis couldn't paint her nails to save her life without getting a mess everywhere. The time flew by as she was now opening the door to see Wally standing there nervously scratching the back of his head. When he looked at the blonde he froze letting a crimson blush travel across his cheeks.

She looked down trying not to show how hard she was blushing herself. "So how about that movie?" She asked as he grinned and took her hand dragging her out the door. "We don't need to drive the theater is not that far" he said as she rolled her eyes walking alongside him. The sky was clear so far with a couple fluffy clouds. Hopefully it would stay clear with minimum clouds. "So what you've told me is that its a horror movie so far" she said as the wind blew passed them.

Halloween was over and now early November was casually rolling in. "Yeah there's a lot of blood and stuff do you think you can handle it?" He asked nervously. What if she didn't like horror movies? "Wally I've witnessed many brutal deaths in front of my own two eyes. Some fake blood and guts is far from scary" she said rolling her eyes and stuffing her hands into her pocket. He took that into information and stored it in his brain as he nodded understanding. They got there early and sat in the theater munching on sweets, soda and popcorn.

They found ways to entertain themselves while waiting for the movie to begin. "Stop throwing popcorn at me" she said turning to face the grinning idiot. A single piece of popcorn bounced off of her forehead as she shot him a hard glare. "Stop acting like a child Wallace" she teased as he groaned hearing the use of his full name. "Come on Arty I'm bored" he whined as she crossed her arms over her chest. Her eye twitched when he began tossing pieces of buttery popcorn at her again.

Grabbing his bag of popcorn she dumped it over his head. His jaw hung open as she smirked seeing how adorable he looked when surprised. "This is priceless!" She giggled out adorably before throwing a hand over her mouth. It was his turn to smirk as he shook the popcorn out of his fiery red hair. "Did Artemis Crock just giggle?" He asked as her cheeks flushed a brighter red. People began filing into the theater as she sat there mortified that she just giggled like a little girl.

The theater dimmed until turning as dark as night. Screen flickering to life her body finally calmed down. Previews for other movies and stuff just dragged out leaving everyone annoyed. When the actual movie began she smirked seeing how scared Wally looked. Her father tried to turn her into an assassin like Jade but of course that didn't turn out like he planned. One of the things she was taught was to study facial emotions. Wally was definitely scared but he was faking being brave.

A jump scare took the theater by surprise as most people yelled and gasped. Wally shielded his face with his arms before peeking back out only to wince again seeing the movie play out. "Oh don't walk down the dark hallway when you just saw a shadow move down it" he whispered as she rolled her eyes and took his hand in hers. This immediately took him by surprise as his heart began rapidly beating. Glancing over at the blonde her eyes were trained on the movie screen. Why did she have to look so damn pretty?

After many more screams the movie finally came to a close. Walking out of the theater she was still holding his hand. "And you were the one saying that I was going to be scared" she teased as he looked down at the floor embarrassed. The place was flooded with people so they decided to go outside for some fresh air. "What the hell it was a clear sky an hour and a half ago!" She yelled looking out at the pouring rain. That must've been why the place was so packed. The rain was driving people inside.

Wally turned to face her with a mishchevious grin plastered to his face. "What?" She asked as his grin grew wider. "If we run we'll make it back to your house in like five minutes tops" he said as her face drained from all colour. This was how they were now standing under a little bit of cover from a building soaking wet. At first the rain sent chills through their bodies from being so cold. It was early November after all so this rain was bound to be ice cold. As they began running the rain began to dump down onto them.

Standing under the cover they eagerly waited for the rain to stop. Both of them were soaked to the bone to the point where she was shivering. He stood across from her fiddling with his fingers to pass time. Every minute or so he would glance up at her with a small smile on his face. The feeling he felt was so indescribable it felt like he was bottling up joy and happiness. He was certain it would blow soon. The rain slowed down a bit as they just began walking slowly. "Now that I'm soaked the rain isn't as cold" she said flashing him a brilliant smile.

His heart felt like melting just seeing that genuinely happy smile on her face. Artemis didn't smile very often which made him a little sad. The teen had been through so much already that smiles like these were really rewarding. "So what was this?" She asked coming to a stop in front of the old fountain. The rain was still pouring but not as bad as before. He turned on his heel to face her before cocking his head to the side. When what she just said processed through his mind he began blushing like an idiot.

Scratching the back of his head nervously he stared into her steel grey eyes. "Well this could be a d-date but it doesn't have to if you don't want it to" he sputtered out as another smile appeared on her face. The difference with this smile was the fact that she was about to explode with joy. She took a step closer to him as his cheeks burned brighter. "So would this be cliché right now if I kissed you?" He asked signaling to the rain. Getting a kiss in the rain was so cliché but she didn't care at the moment. "Its a good thing I like cliché" she whispered leaning up and gently pressing her lips against his.

Both of their eyes fluttered closed as he kissed her back. At least this time there would be no issue with him kissing her. Breaking apart both of them were blushing a bright red. "So you're not going to run off to some girl now and tell me to forget about this?" She asked nervously still feeling a little hurt about the last time. He did in fact kiss her before and then told her to forget about the whole thing. "N-no this is totally real this time. But if you want a girl I could run to would you like to be that girl?" He asked with hope gleaming in his emerald eyes.

Blinking a couple times she looked at him confused. Did he just ask her what she thought he just asked her? "Can you repeat that?" She asked still unsure of what he was trying to ask her. Running a hand through his wet hair he took a deep breath. "Do you want to be my girlfriend Artemis?" He asked nervously biting his lip as she smirked. What he didn't expect was for her to jump on him in a hug. Wrapping her legs around his waist, arms around his neck she leaned in and kissed him.

A kiss in the rain is so cliché right? Eh screw being cliché or not she didn't care. "So I take that as a yes?" He asked when they broke apart. She hugged him and nodded happily. After so long she was finally going to date him. Putting her down on the ground the sky began to clear nicely as the rain stopped falling. "Come on Wallace we have places to go and people to see" she announced taking his hand in hers before dragging him down the sidewalk. This was the Artemis he knew. The very beautiful, stubborn yet fearless girl.

An old man once told him to find his Spitfire; one that won't let you get away with nothing. He vaguely remembers his name being Kent Nelson. People called him Doctor Fate and he told Wally something. "I think I found my my Spitfire" he muttered with a goofy smile on his face. "What was that?" She asked as they walked towards her house. The red head was staring at the sky when he looked down and over to her. "Oh nothing Arty. Just something someone told me awhile back" he said as she nodded resting her head against his shoulder happily.
