A Martian, 143.36 Kilometers from home
-M'gann is a trans icon, and I could write an essay on that.-

Saturday Afternoon
"Where's Conner?" M'gann asked, tugging WonderWoman's leg.
"He went out to help Superman with Groceries."
M'gann was a little disappointed that she wasn't invited.
Things were different now than they were last week, but she couldn't quite figure out why. Usually She and Conner did groceries together, then Conner did laundry, and she did cooking, and they took turns washing up; so why was Justice League doing all those things for them? Not saying she was upset about it, but she wondered why she wasn't allowed to help with anything.
She shrugged it off yet again, though she kept wondering about it every once in a while.
"Where's Uncle J'onn?" She asked. "I'm bored"
"I'm sure he'll be back in a minute, dove." Diana assured the kid.
M'gann sat on the floor, but couldn't stop fidgeting. She was bored. All her friends had gone home, and Conner was out. She just wanted to play with someone.
There was a little more than loneliness making her ansty though. Her skin felt tight and uncomfortable. She was having trouble staying in her preferred (Green) form, it would start to hurt after eight-ish hours, and around ten, she'd cry from the pain.
The issue was, she didn't want to turn back to her white form. Doing this might hurt her physically, but being in the body she was born in hurt her inside. She'd rather cry on her bed from pain then be unable to look at or touch herself.
She stood up again, and tried running in circles, or levitating a few feet from the ground. But the restless feeling was still there. She would have to stop shifting to feel better.
"I'm going to my room." She told the adult.
The Amazon looked up from deliberating over a sharp-edged table. "Do you want me to come?"
"No." She said, gliding down the hall. She opened the door, and landed landed neatly on her bed. She knit her eyes closed and shifted back to her original martian body. She already wanted to cry from what was dysphoria, but she didn't know the name for. She hated this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Diana felt kind of bad for ignoring the little girl so much. From the way M'gann had left, she seemed pretty upset. Wonderwoman took a second to check on her.
She stopped at the door with a picture of a large rat taped to it, M'gann had apparently grown a fondness for rats, She tapped on the door. "M'gann, are you alright?" No answer. "M'gann?"
'yes?'
She jumped a little. The voice hadn't come through the door, it was like it had just echoed from exactly where she stood. It took Diana a second to recognize the feeling as a mindlink, but she didn't know why M'gann didn't just talk to her.
"Can I come in?"
'no.'
"Just to check on you?" She asked.
'...okay.' M'gann relented, sounding exhausted, and a little tearful.
Wonderwoman opened on the door and stepped towards the figure on the bed. "Oh." She stopped. It as easy to forget that M'gann as a white Martian, and it as always a little startling. She quickly recovered, hoping M'gann hadn't picked up on her surprise.
Makes sense why M'gann hadn't spoken, she'd probably never spoken English until she came to earth.
"Do you need anything?"
'no.'
"Is there a reason you left so fast? Is something wrong?" M'gann nodded, though still turned away. "What is it, darling." She asked gently, sitting on the edge of M'gann's bed.
'I don't want my body.'
"No?" She rested her hand on M'gann's shoulder. "Why not?"
'I DON'T!' M'gann's body went stiff, still shaking a little. She must be crying. The girl didn't want to elaborate further
Diana listened intently to the voice echoing in her head, gently rubbing M'gann's arm to sooth her. "I'm going to find J'onn, okay?" She said eventually. M'gann rolled over a little, curling up a little.
The Amazon quietly stepped out, letting the girl rest. Seriously, the other Martian was supposed to be back by now! Diana located her cell and called her colleague, bouncing impatiently on the balls of her feet. Wasn't J'onn empathic? Couldn't he guess M'gann needed comfort?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M'gann was partially relieved when her 'uncle' returned. See, on one hand, he was technically her mentor, and the only other Martian there, but M'gann felt uncomfortable too. Even though she pretended to be a green martian, she still felt internally threatened.
She stayed turned towards the wall, trying to gather the strength to shift back to her preferred body.
'M'gann?' J'onn had hurried back from the watchtower (Crime and danger didn't just stop because the team was incapacitated), as soon as he'd heard that M'gann was having a meltodown. Don't be deceived by the fact that M'gann lived in the mountain, or didn't go patrolling with her mentor, He did care about her. 'I feel you're upset.'
M'gann shook a little, crying. J'onn sat on her bed, and M'gann crawled over, resting her head against his leg.'I want to be Human! or Green!'
'I know.'
' I don't like this! I HATE IT!' She sobbed.
'You prefer your other body on mars, but you're safe on earth now.' He asked the child. If she didn't want to suffer the prejudices and violence she did on Mars, shifting green was safe for her, but she didn't need to here. 'Why do you hate this body?'
'It hurts!' The Martian told her, telepathy sounding tearful. 'It makes me hurt! Inside!' She sobbed. 'But I can't stay, it makes me feel sick.'
The Martian sat there longer, gently stroking M'gann's arm to sooth her. He sympathised with the child, M'gann was confused, and hurt, and couldn't communicate that verbally.
She was trying her best to share with her hero the feelings that gnawed at her; the complete inability to look down at her own body without feeling sick and confused, or the constant fear of being forced back into her white martian body, both for personal and social reasons.
Then there was the switch between the martian gender spectrum, and earth's supposed gender binary. Having to seek out a gender identity that suits her, even if it's unrepresented on earth.
It was even harder now, she was too small to verbally express how she felt, and could barely control her shapeshifting.
So, she psychically vented everything she could think up, getting it all out before her uncle left again, and she'd have to go back to not talking properly, and bottling the pain up.
Unfortunately, she may have vented too hard.
J'onn smiled softly and gently shifted the child off his leg, resting her back on the bed. M'gann was breathing softly, eyes rested closed. She needed a rest.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M'gann had woken from her nap to an empty bedroom about ten minutes ago, and hopped out of bed. She ambled down the hall, looking for other people. She could faintly hear yelling in the next room, but was far too frightened to investigate. She Moseyed around into the main room they used for training, and spied a few figures hunched in the corner or the room.
'CONNER!' She waved like crazy, floating a few inches off the floor from excitement. Conner looked up from his book, he didn't seem surprised by her appearances at all, and waved her over. 'What are you doing?'
Conner wiped some dampness from under his eyes, and sniffed. "Reading."
M'gann forced herself to shift back to her Hello Megan body, and flew over. "Can I read too?" She asked Wonderwoman.
Diana looked down at the boy in her lap."What do you think Conner?"
He nodded, silently, and shuffled over to make room. She sat, sandwiching Conner between her, Wonderwoman, and Wolf. M'gann was worried, she had no clue why her friend was crying. "Why are you crying?"
Conner stared straight ahead, not answering at first. "Do you want to read this?" He sniffed. "Or something else?"
M'gann shrugged. "You can read." She told him.
Conner nodded, and wiped his eyes again, and started reading; trying to tune out the shouting from the livingroom.
-Can you tell I'm feeling dysphoric?-
