Mysterious Savior

Hi guys! Back with another update! I kinda rushed this to post before Independence Day xd. Hope you like it though. Happy early 4th of July by the way!

Oh yeah! Thanks to all of you guys! This story has more than 3 K views and 170 votes! That makes me very happy! :) And thanks to all the people who commented or followed me! All of you people give me motivation to write more. Anyway, on with the story!

Robin sat in his seat in the bioship, unknowingly tapping his legs in frustration. He leaned against his hand as his elbow rested on the arm rest. He let out a sigh, catching the other's attention. They glanced over in concern for their friend, wondering what could be troubling the boy.

"Robin, are you alright?" Miss Martian asked, voicing everyone's thoughts. It took one second for Robin to snap out of his thoughts and look over to see everyone's worried faces. Placing a smile on his face, he shook his head.

"It's nothing," he replied. "Just having some bad thoughts and bad feelings. I'll be fine."

The others gave him a wary look. They knew it was still bothering him, but they decided to leave him alone. They didn't feel like prying. If Dick wanted to keep it to himself, who are they to say he can't?

Dick went right back to thinking about his problem. His small, violent, brotherly assassin problem to be precise. Thinking back to it made him a bit worried about if he should have done what he did, aka, told Dami about their mission tonight.

"So Batman thinks that there's this huge drug heist near Happy Harbor," Dick told Damian. "There might be a chance that the Light has some kind of hands in this. So, he's sending us there to check and be covert." They sat on the green bench at the park, doing their routinely hang out. Each had their own ice cream cone, leisurely licking it. They both were eating birthday cake ice cream.

"Isn't Happy Harbor close to that pathetic place where you and those so called sidekicks train and get missions assigned?" Damian asked. "Grayson, what time are you starting the assignment?" Dick turned to Damian, stuffing his face with the last piece of his cone.

"Ish shartsh atch 8ish," Dick swallowed, clearing his throat. "'Scuse me. It starts at 8ish. And don't say sidekicks. We're not sidekicks. We're our mentor's trusted partner." Damian tutted, looking off in the distance, lost in thoughts. Dick, who noticed, pokes Damian. He didn't even noticed...the first few times.

"Stop it with that irritating jabbing," Damian growled. "What's the point of it besides making me irate?"

"I was just wondering what you were thinking about?" Dick chuckled. "You're not up to something right?" Dick grinned, looking at Dami lightheartedly until he saw a familiar look. It's the look that he along with the other teen heroes and bat kids had when they were gonna do something dangerous.

"Dami..." Dick said sternly, "You are not going anywhere tonight, especially near the heist. What will Talia say when you don't return to her?" Damian glared at Dick. He scoffed as he folded his arms and tried to look more intimidating than before.

"Please Grayson," Damian replied. "I can take care of myself. Plus, mother trust that I can take care of myself. It's you who should be worried. Don't be shocked that I will have to come down and assist you." Dick rolled his eyes, bringing his hand up to ruffle Damian's hair.

"Lil' D," Dick grinned, beginning to joke, "have you seen me? I've got training from the Bats and the League of Assassins." Damian narrowed his eyes.

"Don't get cocky Grayson," Damian said. "You can still be defeated. Mother would be disappointed if I had to tell her that you had an unfortunate accident." Dick smiled and nodded.

"Thanks Dami," Dick cooed, suddenly putting one arm on him. "Glad you care." Damian sputtered, and turned red. He muttered some incoherent words, trying to pry Dick's arm off him before giving up and letting him do what he wanted.

Looking back at it, Dick finally realized that Damian never said he wasn't coming. The little brat. If he is actually coming tonight, Talia will certainly have his head. Note to self, if he did appear, Dick's not buying him ice cream for a few weeks as punishment.

"Get ready team," Aqualad announced. "Miss Martian, put this ship on camouflage mode." Miss Martian nodded. Eyes glowing green, she controlled the ship to be invisible and parked it on an empty rooftop. They all changed into their covert attire, wearing dark variation of their usual uniform.

"So, why did we decide to go on ship since this is decently close to Mount Justice?" Kid Flash asked, leaning on his right leg lazily. Artemis rolled her eyes at him.

"Faster getaway, less chance of getting caught cause some of our lack of stealth, more time to watch what's going on, must I list any more reasons, Kid?" Artemis smirked. Wally rolled his eyes and looked away. He couldn't come up with any good retorts.

One by one, they went of on their own. They went to different points outside of an abandoned warehouse that was under suspicion of harboring drugs and whatnot. Keeping contact via mind link, they reported their findings. Nothing seemed suspicious...yet.

"Hey guys, I see a car coming," Kid Flash informed, eyeing a limo driving their way. It seemed out of place. A limo was driving at night where there was no cars and to a warehouse that hasn't been in use. That's totally normal.

"Kid Flash, are you able to tell us who is in the vehicle?" Aqualad asked. Kid Flash quickly ran closer to the approaching vehicle, but not where they could see him. To his surprise, not one, but a few familiar faces stepped out of the car.

"You guys, it's Luthor, Sportsmaster, Cheshire, and Banes," Kid Flash exclaimed. "And they're carrying a lot of things into the warehouse." Once it was clear, or at least looked clear, they got in closer to warehouse. They went to the rooftops where they found a way to get in through the vents. Slipping inside, they crawled until all could hear and see from the inside.

"Why don't they ever make bigger vents?" Superboy grumbled, squeezing himself through.

"It's not that the vents are too small," Robin chuckled. "It's just that you're too big." He stuck a tongue out to Superboy, who glared at his remark. Robin easily moved ahead, leaving the rest in the dust. He went the closest to the center, where Luthor and Bane were negotiating a deal. Cheshire and Sportsmaster seem to be keeping a lookout. Too bad for them, the team is in the building already.

"What are they talking about?" Artemis frowned, trying to hear clearly by leaning forward, but it didn't help at all. Superboy shushed her as he too leaned towards the vent opening to eavesdrop.

"So, Luthor is trading Venom for let's see..." Superboy relayed quietly, "all he said was for Bane's assistance in their next great project." Superboy growled, frustrated. Aqualad smiled and reassured him it was fine. This was good enough. They can call this a successful mission and get back to back now.

Unfortunately, this is usually where the mission turns wrong most of the time. And this time, it did. The vent finally couldn't take the weight in any longer and broke, sending the team besides Robin right next to the two, surprising them along with the two assassins outside.

"Intruders!" Luthor snarled, "Mercy, capture them!" Out of nowhere, the female bodyguard appeared and started attacking. Robin decided this would be the best time for his grand entrance. He kicked his vent down hard on top of Bane and Luthor, and they dropped to the floor in pain. Cackling, he  jumped and landed on them.

"Pardon me, my dear gentlemen," Robin apologized playfully. "Sorry to drop by suddenly!" Before Bane had a chance to grab the little acrobat, he disappeared with another cackle.

Managing to put everything to a halt, the Team held off Mercy as well as Luthor and Bane, who wasn't charged with his Venom. Sportsmaster shook his head and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, a bunch of ninjas appeared from the shadows.

"Seriously, how do they do that?" Kid Flash wondered. "Like, they were never even I totally need that skill." Artemis rolled her eyes, reminding him to stay on track. Artemis and Kid Flash fought together, Superboy and Miss Martian in another, Aqualad by himself, and Robin by himself. Things were going pretty well. They managed to fend of and knock many enemies unconscious. However, they didn't noticed someone able to sneak behind Robin.

"Robin!" Miss Martian yelled, gaining everyone's attention, "Behind you!" Her warning was too late though. He turned to see Bane with a sword in his hand, probably from one of the knocked out ninjas, and was  in the middle of swinging it down.

"No!" The unfamiliar short yell shocked everyone as a small figure hidden in a hood came and jumped onto Bane. Using the shock invulnerability, the figure pulled Bane back until Robin used his gadget and tied him up.

"Go," Robin hissed quietly to the boy. The figure obliged to his request and disappeared as quickly as he had came. This snapped the Team out of their trance, but so did the others. Seeing the disadvantage of staying and fighting, with a smoke pellet, they escaped.

"Leave them," Aqualad ordered. "We accomplished our objectives. We should return to base and report to Batman." Agreeing, they all headed back into their ship and back to Mount Justice.

Robin wondered how or what he should say to Damian once they meet again. He didn't know whether to be mad or proud. The other's had the same question in running through their mind. Who was that mysterious person that saved their little brother?

Young Justice: A New Bat

"Here are our written reports," Kaldur informed, giving Batman the papers. Batman nodded, taking a quick look at one of it. Closer to the end, his eyes widen by a millimeter before narrowing into his batglare.

"What is the meaning of this?" Batman demanded. "Who's this mysterious figure that saved Robin?" Sadly, all he got were shrugs or small voices of 'I don't know.' He turned towards Robin, who should've seen the boy's face since they were so close, but faced the same reaction. Wait, same?

Robin didn't look curious to find out who this unknown person was. Usually if something like this happens, he would chatter nonstop as he used a face recognition software. It seemed like Robin either doesn't want to find out who this is, which is unlikely, or know something that the others don't, which is more likely to be the case.

"Anything you'd like to say?" Batman inquired, raising an eyebrow at Robin. He looked up, and shook his head no. Suspicious. Very suspicious. He was definitely hiding something, but what? What was so important that he would keep from the Team? From him?

After their meeting, Batman ended up going to the evidence room to look over the information and figure out the Light's plan along with Robin's savior. The Team chilled back with Wolf and Sphere in the living room. They decided to watch a comedy movie just to get their minds off of things. They barely finished it when Batman came back from the room.

"Robin, we're leaving." Batman called, already heading towards the Zeta Beam. Robin said his goodbyes before catching up with Batman and heading out. The machine announced their superhero alias and designation, indicating that they went through and are gone.

Young Justice: A New Bat

"I can't believe you had to be saved," Jason howled, pointing at Dick as he held his stomach. He was in pain from his laughter, but it was still going. Dick rolled his eyes and continued to eat his dinner. Alfred had made a nice Macaroni and Cheese with herbs for them. He also gave them boiled broccoli and other vegetables to eat.

"Hey Dick, tell me what it feels like to be rescued by a stranger," Jason teased. He dodged the knife that Dick happened to throw at him. Dick growled at him to shut up before going back to his unfinished food. Sadly, he didn't have a knife anymore, but oh well. Hopefully he can throw a fork at Jason, but judging from the look Bruce is giving him, not likely.

"Are you sure you didn't see anything else?" Tim asked. He chewed on his food as he played with the laptop on his lap and underneath the table. He was very determine to prove his skills and uncover the identity of this mysterious person, but nothing seems to come up. The cloak covered his face from the camera. Plus, it was too fast to actually catch anything interesting.

"Might I suggest dropping this topic along with putting away the technology," Alfred reprimanded. "We should welcome Miss Cassandra and Miss Stephanie back from their trip in China." Apologizing to Alfred, they did as they were told and brought the two girls into their conversation.

"The trip was so much fun!" Steph exclaimed. "We had dumplings, went on nature walks, fought criminals..." Steph went on as she described their trip. Cass, from time to time, signed her thoughts. The brothers would listen carefully. Though they traveled places to places, they never been to China, so this puts some images in their heads along with first impressions.

They all joked at the table for most of the night. Bruce listened as his kids retold and caught up on their adventures while the others were gone. It was a splendid night. Especially after Alfred treated them with his one of a kind recipe of chocolate chip cookies. No one noticed how Dick slipped some onto a paper napkin, wrap the the cookie in it, and hide it for later.

Young Justice: A New Bat

Night came, and there seemed to be no criminal activities for once, so they all took advantage of it and sleep in their beds. Oh at least most of them did. Bruce was with Alfred downstairs while Dick was secretly up in his room.

"Master Bruce," Alfred called, bringing in a cup of coffee for the man. "Is something the matter? You seem suspicious of Dick tonight during dinner." Bruce glanced at Alfred with a surprised look, but smiled lightly.

"I can never hid anything from you, Alfred," Bruce chuckled. "Back on subject, it seems that Dick is hiding something from the Team and from me. From the looks of the video here, he can be seen telling something to the stranger before he left. This only means that Dick knows him or her. But where and how? Dick's been pretty busy with the Team and their mission. Where did he have the time to make new friends?"

Bruce seemed to be heading into his obsessive Bat mode. He's gonna turn every stone over until he finds out the truth. Alfred shook his head, heading back upstairs to tidy up the kitchen after giving off some suggestions Bruce can look into. Perhaps he could even get Dick to spill some secrets out. A bribe with cookies wouldn't hurt at all.

Meanwhile, Dick upstairs was reading a note left on his desk. Grinning, he put the napkin wrapped cookies into a small goodie bag and onto the table. The note said that Damian was gonna come tomorrow. It was so early of a notice. Damian was actually there three days ago. Well, this was somewhat convenient. He could scold Damian for coming, but treat him to some extra sweets for saving him.

Dick silently laughed. He was pretty sure he's spoiling Damian silly, and Talia was gonna have his head, but who cares. He'll deal with it when the time comes. Ah, hopefully he doesn't come to a cavity. That'll be bad.

Heading to bed, he leaped into it and slipped underneath the cover. He should sleep for tomorrow. He felt something was off, but ignored it. I mean, what could happen? Probably nothing right?

How wrong he was.

Young Justice: A New Bat

"Come on Dick," Tim pouted. "We all wanna go to the park, so you'll have to take us." Dick struggled to get Tim to lose his grip. For a kid so small, he sure has a strong grip. Jason glared at Dick while the girls gave puppy dog faces. Bruce smirked amusingly as he swept through the newspaper.

"I can't," Dick apologized. "I'm busy." Hearing this, Bruce looked up.

"What are you too busy doing today that you can't take the kids to the park?" Bruce asked. Dick smiled nervously and stayed silent. For some reason, he couldn't think of a reason. He could before, but this time he had a feeling Bruce wouldn't believe him. Might as well let him think he just wanted to get away from the job. Bruce raised an eyebrow and sighed.

"Since it seems you aren't as busy as you thought," Bruce smiled, "you should take them to the park." Dick saw right through that smile. Darn you Bruce! Making me take them to the park so you don't have to! Well, at least he won't be able to catch on about Damian if he hasn't already. Wait, how am I gonna hide the truth about Damian from Jason and the others?

"Well, let's go," Dick sighed. "I'm giving you guys five minute to get dressed and put your shoes on before I walk out the door. One, two, go!" With that, they all left upstairs to get ready to go. Alfred shook his head at their messy antics, but cleaned up any mess they left behind. With little time to spare, they all had their shoes on and already on the way to the park.

Young Justice: A New Bat

"Catch me if you can!" Steph grinned, running off towards the other half of the field. Jason, Tim, and Cass were chasing after her in their little game of tag. Dick sat on the bench, watching them. In other cases, he would join the fun, but he was worried about Damian meeting the others. He has always been aggressive and rude towards strangers after all.

"Got you!" Jason smirked, tackling the blonde girl. That was when Tim gave a shout of warning, notifying Dick something wasn't right. Jason and Steph were only a feet from the sidewalk, and they were falling on the cement at an alarmingly quick rate. Steph closed her eyes tightly, bracing her self for impact. Jason did the same, making sure to shield Steph's head and neck, pulling her towards him protectively.

"Ofmp!"

"Jason!"

"Steph!"

Many voices cried out. Dick ran as quick as he can, worried that they were hurt. Tim and Cass were there already, helping Jason and Steph up. Jason and Steph blinked, confused. The landing wasn't hard at all. Something soften their fall. Looking back, they saw a kid a bit younger than them rubbing his head.

"Watch where you're going," he scowled. "Are you blind or are you just naturally uncoordinated?" Jason and Steph frowned at the boy and his impoliteness. During this time, Dick took this chance to run up to the group.

"Sorry about Jay and Steph," Dick apologized. "They were just having too much fun and got carried awa-" Dick grinned sheepishly until he saw who it actually was. He cursed under his breath. Why didn't he recognize the voice earlier?

"Grayson?"

So how many people knew this was coming? Probably most of you xd haha. So, tell me what you think of it? Anything that popped out, was cute, out of place, anybody out of character, or any mistakes I made? Hope you guys enjoy! I'll try to write the next chapter as quick as I can, but I'm also spending the summer studying, drawing, recording potential videos that I might post on YouTube, and more xd (sorry xd ). But that's it I guess :p. See you guys next time!
