Downtime
The team sat on the couch, surrounding the TV.
There was no mission and they were bored behind control.
Connor just sat watching the static, but even then, the static was getting pretty boring and his mind started to wander. M'gan was lifting things with her mind and moving them around the place, reorganizing and reorganizing again. Kaldur was sorting through his picture box, looking at pictures of him and Roy and Robin and Wally, when they weren't being superheroes, those were the good old times. Artemis was restringing her bow, but not really in to it, she was more just staring at the wall and thinking. Robin was hacking into random websites from his computer glove. Wally was eating, eating, and eating some more, he wasn't really paying attention to what he was doing, which is why when he accidentally flipped the cookie bowl into the air..
"Wally!" Artemis shouted, picking the cookie crumbs out of her newly strung bow,"I literally just strung this! Now I have to string it again!"
"Well you've got time!" Wally hollered back,"It's not like any of us have anything better to do."
"It is true." Kaldur nodded,"The Batman has not assigned us any mission yet."
"I wish he would." Connor mumbled.
"Me too." M'gan agreed.
"Wait," Connor brightened, having a great thought,"Robin?"
"Yeeess?" Robin answered, eyes not leaving his computer glove.
"Is there anything bad happening in the world today? Something major? Something that will take our minds off of being bored?" Connor hopefully asked.
The whole team turned to Robin, their eyes filled with hope.
"Nope, looks like nothing is happening." Robin replied,"It's like all the villains decided to take a day off..." he suddenly trailed off, lost in thought.
"What is it?" M'gan asked, seeing the concentrated look on her teammate's face made her wonder what the Boy Wonder was cooking up in there.
"It's just that," Robin began,"Think about it. There are no major villains attacking, no jewelry heists, nothing. No burglaries or anything. What if the villains are planning some giant convention? What if they are going to make all us superheroes restless and careless by not doing anything and then all of them, together turn around and strike? It will be to much to handle! They could take over the world!"
"Woah..." the whole team muttered in unison, he was such a genius.
"But, they would eventually turn on each other and their plan would fail." Robin finished,"What villain doesn't want to dominate the world by himself? So we shouldn't do anything about it."
Artemis sighed then flopped back onto the couch,"So we basically have nothing to do?"
"Nope." Wally sadly said, he ran his fingers through his red hair and slowly closed his bright green eyes.
"It's not that bad." Kaldur said not believing himself.
"How is it not bad?" Connor jerked his black hair at Kaldur.
Kaldur shook his white hair,"I don't know, we will find a way though."
"Hopefully." M'gan said.
"Hopefully." Connor repeated.
"We could have a Disney movie marathon." Wally suggested, as a joke.
"Disney seriously Wally?" Artemis asked,"You seriously are a little kid."
Robin giggled, he loved a good argument, but that looked like it wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
"Yep!" Wally brightly replied,"Sheesh, it was a joke."
"What's a Disney?" M'gan asked. She had obviously seen Hello Megan! and knew what TV and movies were, but she didn't know what a Disney movie was.
"What's a movie?" Connor questioned, he had heard of TV and static, but a movie? What was a movie?
"Excuse me, but I am not sure I know what you two are talking about." Kaldur looked at Artemis and Wally. Atlantains didn't have TV at all.
"I have never watched a Disney movie." Robin stated.
"But, your American." Artemis pointed out.
"No, I'm not." replied Robin darkly. He use to not have enough money to afford to watch movies. Back in his Flying Grayson days. And Batman didn't really have Disney movies in his mansion.
"Anyway," Wally purposely interrupted, saving Robin from a barrage of questions, he turned to Artemis, "Since we are the only ones that have seen a Disney movie, and they don't even know what it is, isn't it appropriate that we introduce it to them?"
"I guess so, I haven't seen one in a long time." Artemis smiled, "Shall we put together a list of movies that we have to watch?"
"Yep," Wally smiled back,"Of course."
In a few minutes they had come up with the perfect list:
-Tangled: for M'gan's sake, she had to see at least one princess movie with a girl that wasn't having to be the damsel in distress
-The Little Mermaid: for Kaldur, what Atlantian didn't like mermaids?
-Robin Hood: for Artemis, this was like her favourite Disney movie of all time, plus it had arrows
-Hercules: for Connor, he was sure to like the young muscular boy
-Finding Nemo: for Kaldur, again, but everybody had to see this one
-Mulan: for M'gan, she needed to see a kick butt princess at least once
-The Great Mouse Detective: for Robin, it was detective themed, how was he not going to love it?
-Big Hero Six: for Wally, he loved that movie
-The Fox and the Hound: for everybody: that movie was so adorable and heart touching
-Zootopia: No one on the team had seen this movie, so it would be a new experience
-The Lion King: for everybody, this movie had to be considered a classic by now
They started with Tangled. Artemis and M'gan looked at the screen enthralled the whole time.
"Eeeeww!" Robin cried, when he saw Flynn Rider and Rapunzel on the boat drawing into a kiss.
"Aaaaaww!" said everybody else on the team, leaning into the screen.
Next on the list was The Little Mermaid. The whole team laughed when Ariel started to brush her hair with a fork.
"Wow!" Kaldur laughed,"They really have mermaids all wrong! The ones I know are pretty straight forward when it comes to brushing their hair."
The whole team stopped laughing, turned, and stared,"Mermaids are real?" asked a shining M'gan.
Robin Hood came next. Artemis stared intently at the screen, picking up the tricks he did with his bow and arrow."Oh, now that is not possible!" she said at one point.
"How would you know?" Wally not so smartly retorted. The bump that appeared on his head would take a while to disappear.
They went to Hercules next, all the boys stared at the girls on the screen that were singing the songs.
"Wow," Wally whistled,"They are hot. So curvy..."
Robin cackled,"I think that fat one is perfect for you Wally."
"Ewww! Never mind." Wally cringed.
When Finding Nemo came on, Kaldur started crying.
"Why are you crying Kal?" M'gan questioned, really concerned.
"I feel bad for him." Kaldur said,"I usually try to help all the lost baby fish, it doesn't always work though."
"How do you know they are lost?" Connor asked.
"They tell you." Kaldur wiped away a tear.
For the second time that day, the whole team turned to stare at their Atlantian teammate.
Mulan was next... and M'gan became so enthralled with the movie that....um...
"Agh!" Artemis screeched,"Why is Mulan sitting next to me? This is so freaky! Wait where is M'gan?"
"You are staring at her." Robin said from his seat next to Wally.
Artemis stared at the fantasy princess that was sitting next to her."M'gan?"
"Yes?" M'gan responded, in the form of Mulan,"Oh my gosh! Am I shape shifting again?" she turned back into her regular shape.
The Great Mouse Detective was on next.
Robin absolutely loved it, until Basil(if you haven't watched the movie, Basil is the main character) fell. Robin started to breath heavily, he was thinking of his parents. He started to silently cry.
Wally looked next to his crying best friend and immediately understood what was happening."It will be okay Rob, he doesn't die, he comes back up, he lives!"
And it was true, on the screen Basil came back up, he had saved himself. Robin let out a breath and buried his head into Wally's shoulder,"Thanks Wally."
"Your welcome, D." Wally said winking at Robin.
Big Hero Six was on next.
Wally cried through the whole movie,"This movie is so sad."
"I know right?" Connor said wiping away a miniscule tear.
Artemis looked at him,"You have the ability to cry?"
M'gan bumped her,"Ummm... Artemis, I wouldn't say that."
Connor turned and glared at them."Yes, I do have human emotions you know?"
The Fox and the Hound was the next according to the list.
"They are so adorable!" Robin cried, referring to the two young animals that were pouncing on each other.
Kaldur sniffed,"I think all Disney animals are adorable."
"I know right?"M'gan cried, excited.
They next watched Disney's latest Disney movie, Zootopia.
"Oh my gosh!" Artemis said, slightly mooning over Judy, the talking bunny,"Animals that wear clothes! This story is so amazing!"
"I know, best plot ever!" Wally agreed.
"Wait, are you two agreeing on something?" Connor asked.
"No!" Artemis and Wally cried in unison, then turned to glare at each other across the room.
"Hey Wally, when you lean your head over to glare at Artemis, you block my view." Robin said to the red-head that was sitting next to him.
The last movie was The Lion King.
Wally started to remember what happened during The Great Mouse Detective, and turned to Robin, this time the character wouldn't get right back up."Umm... guys why don't we skip this one?"
"Why?" Artemis asked,"To scared?"
"No." Wally stated.
"Then let's watch it!" M'gan exclaimed.
Wally looked nervously at his best friend, who was leaning towards the screen, excited to watch another movie. Wally sighed.
When they came to the part when the lion fell off the cliff, Robin started to breath deeply,"He comes back up, right?"he whispered to Wally.
"Nuno." Wally stuttered back.
Robin started to breath deeper,"My parents.."
Wally hugged him,"It's OK, don't worry." but it was to late, Robin was already crying.
The whole team looked at him, Robin was shaking and crying.
Wally picked Robin up and took him out of the room,"Be back in a few." he told the team.
"My parents," Robin said once they were out of the room,"They, they, fell.."
"It's OK Rob, you have Bruce and Alfred and me and the rest of the league, and the team, even though they don't fully understand yet." Wally said,"We will always be there with you." He waited until the little bird had fallen asleep before he went back into the room.
He ignored the weird stares he was getting and patted the bird's black hair,"I will always be there for you.. we will always be there for you." he whispered to the little bird.
"What was that about?" Artemis asked Wally.
"Sssshhhh..he's sleeping." Wally shot back.
"Also, what did he mean when he said he was not American? You know earlier.." Connor asked.
Wally shifted uncomfortably,"He's Romanian...."
"What!" the team cried.
"One: How did you know that? and Two: Romanian?" Artemis said.
"I'm not saying anything." Wally said.
"Please." Kaldur said,"He is our teammate. We have the right to know."
"And he has the right to keep a secret." Wally retorted,"He'll tell when he is ready."
"That's true!" M'gan said,"We all had secrets, and we told when we were ready, and he has that right to not tell."
"Still.." Artemis said.
"You had a secret to, and we didn't bug you about it." Connor bluntly said.
"Yeah, I guess so." Artemis turned her head to Robin,"I just hope he'll tell us soon, obviously he has had a hard past."
"Yeah, I have." Robin said, surprising the team,"I told you I was a light sleeper didn't I?"
"Well that has become obvious." Connor replied.
"Do we have another movie to watch?" Robin said.
"We've got tons more." Wally responded.
"Good, then let's watch one." M'gan smiled at Robin.
"Hey, what about the Aristocats?" Artemis asked.
"What are Arisrocats?" Connor asked,"I thought the proper way to say that word was aristocrats?"
"It is," Robin said,"Hard word to say though.."
"Well if you would let me put the movie in this thing, you'll find out." Wally retorted, accidentally falling on his face.
The team laughed at his antics, and Robin smiled, he belonged here.
