"Checkmate, biatch!" Reid confidently dropped his red uno card down on the rest of the unorganizedly stacked cards

Sure, Emori loved her friends, but they never failed to impress her by how stupid they sometimes where.

"That's for chess," Ash corrected, "dumbass" he whispered, kissing his teeth as Emori and Sydni laughed in disbelief.

They were - relatively, book-smart, but her and Ash were literally the only ones who weren't as slow as they were. I guess that's what happens when you're used to remembering every detail about all the drugs you sell. If it wasn't clear, I'm talking about Ash, here.

"And what about those three other cards you stuck up your ass?" Syd jokingly pulled an attitude after puffing on her pink vape

They were also crazy, all of them.

"Fuck outta here smoking fucking sugar" Reid teased as he smacked the vape out of her hands

"Oh, you wanna go right now, bitch?" the red haired girl jokingly threatened, pulling her sleeves up

"Let's go!!" Emori cheered as she swung her arm as the two stood up to fake-fight

The four, now including Gia, ran through the halls as quietly and swiftly as possible. So, they were experimenting on how long it took the teachers to notice that they were missing from class; they were bunking, basically.

But they kinda got caught, well, the teacher chasing them only saw Kai and Reid.

Yeah, they're the worst at sitting still during class for longer than four minutes.

"Shit shit shit" all of them eventually cussed through their giggles, running as far away as possible from the teacher

"Let's split up" Gia wisely suggested. They segregated to the bathrooms, the girls sprinting to the nearest bathroom

But they were fun, so it didn't matter.

The three girls squeezed into one stall, banging, then locking the stall as fast as they could.

Gia and Syd covered Emori's mouth to stop her from constantly giggling and making them laugh at the situation they put themselves in.

"Shut the fuck up, 'Mori!" Syd whispered as Gia shushed while giggling

They all froze, staring at each other with widened eyes as they heard slow footsteps of the familiar sound of one inch granny heels.

Silence followed as the girls tried controlling their panting breaths.

They all sighed in relief as they heard the whiny door open and close. After a good 21 seconds, They got out of the stall, before jumping as they heard yelling, not from their room, but the boys bathroom.

The girls quietly giggled at the boys who got caught. It was all fun and games until they heard the teachers voice come closer and closer to their bathroom.

"Shit shit shit" they all quietly exclaimed, running to different stalls to act like regular students just using the bathroom.

The footsteps approached once again, now for a longer time, before slowly leaving.

They agreed that they weren't going to do this ever again, but that obviously wasn't true.

Maddy's words kept sneaking into her mind as she hung out with the everyone. It kept repeating because Emori started noticing everything that Ash did, and how much intention was put into it.

She thought back from when they reunited, something was different— and not only the fact that puberty smacked his shit and he grew taller, no.

The stares were a lot more often, and his resting bitch face seemed to dissolve, even the small involuntary grins— he barely smiles.

Even now, when they all were in a room, her eyes kept awkwardly meeting with Ash's, the both of them blushing in embarrassment to turn away, acting cool about it.

She started to rethink their whole friendship, are they really close like that, or did they just like each other for the longest time. But Emori knew that she never had any feelings for Ash, which is why she kept denying everything going on.

She hated that her heart rate started to increase whenever she heard his voice. And yes, she's found that rush super annoying.

"Fuck" she whispered, almost grossed out that she might remotely be attracted to her own best friend, even more that he was attracted to her.

She distracted herself from these confusing feelings with some weed, laying flat on the ground as the five argued on who was sticking Uno cards up their asses and who wasn't cheating the system; she knew all of them had at least one card slipped into their underwear.

Emori was lost in her thoughts as she puffed the blunt, her eyes half closed as she quietly rapped Superbass by Nicki Minaj to herself.

"You good?" Ash leaned to whisper, looking deeply concerned with the pink haired girl

She was almost caught off guard, playing it off as she rested her weight on her bent elbows, "Just ...high" she smiled, before lying back down and staring at the plain ceiling, making random hand movements in the air.

Ash shook his head as kissed his teeth, watching as she detached herself from their small talk, not noticing how Ash's eyes were still glued on her.

He tried playing his staring off by telling everyone that he's checking up on her to see if she was okay. Bullshit, he really cares about her, but in a non friendly way.

You may not have noticed by now, but no matter how nonchalant and emotionally unavailable he seems, Ash is terrible at hiding his feelings for someone; mostly because it rarely happens.
Who could blame his hormonal assholery self, he's only actually liked one girl his entire life. You could guess who that is.

No, it wasn't love at first sight, at least it wasn't for Emori. But it might've happened the day they met.

Nothing could ever stop the 11 year old from reading a book she was truly interested. No matter the amount of gore, dark themes or graphic amount of smut printed into them; in fact, it might've made her more intrigued, who could blame her?

Her un-bandaged leg swayed back and forth, rhythmically bumping the cold glass of the ice cream freezer she sat on of Fez and Ash's store, turning over to the ninety fourth chapter of The Girl On The Train, a book you'd be surprised a mother gave to her eleven year old daughter. But she was only set to read it when she turned 14, to be exact, but we both know that that wasn't gonna happen.

Everything's better when there's a harsh storm pouring outside, except for when you need to go home to your brother and his best friend as they freak out looking for you.

Her head was buried in the world of the thriller novel as she heard—

"Your leg doing alright?" Fez's voice echoed across the isle, forcing the girl to turn to where the voice came from

"Uhh..." her leg has been aching for the entire time she's been there, "Yeah" she nodded, hiding her embarrassed face behind her book

In reality, the pain got so bad that she couldn't distract herself by reading anymore, so there was only one option left.

Emori quietly grunted as she dramatically limped across the isle, with her head constantly assessing the contents of the shelves, in hopes of finding anything that could numb the aching.

And it was the Tylenol that showed itself to her, so she hopped once more, approaching the shelf, looking upwards as she realized how high the row of boxes was.

"Ah, shit" she whispered, before lifting her little arm in the air, tiptoeing to her best ability to at least brush on one of the boxes enough to push it further back, that was progress to her.

She looked back down, then to her side, seeing her book, narrowing her eyes in thought.

She held the book as high as she could, to at least reach the shelf all the medicine was on, before—

"Need some help over there?"

"Shit!" the voice caught her off guard as she lost her balance, falling on her ass to the ground as she grunted in pain.

She powerlessly watched as he slowly lowered his hand to pick the book up from the ground, reading the title as she slowly lifted herself up.

"What? Can't get the alphabet right yet, pipsqueak?" she shot at him as he silently read the description of the book with furrowed brows

He remained silent, turning to open the book up to where a bookmark rested. Expecting nothing, his eyes furrowed as he read the closest thing to straight up porn.

"What?" Emori asked as she finally finished her struggle in standing up, seeing his widened eyes hidden behind the book

"You too young for this shit, imma keep this shit for when you're older—"

"No! Hey!"

"Chill, shawty, I'm not going nowhere and neither are you in this storm, sit your crippled ass down, before you gotta crawl around here"

"Want a matching injury, short-stuff?"

I'd expect that to come out of Emori's mouth, of course, it's the norm. But not for Ash. For it was at this moment that his mind decided that he would do anything for this girl.

He didn't know what it was - my guess? the hormones just started fucking his little mind up.
I guess he always wanted someone that would mount up to his assholery, or he genuinely just fell in love.
