"must you be a fiend all the time, uhtred?" luna asked hiding her amused smile. the dane smirked before cornering her against the door.

"i can't help being a gorgeous fiend. it's just the card i drew." uhtred spoke before gently kissing the woman. he would never truly be able to express how happy he is to have a second chance, one that he won't take advantage of again.

luna laughed softly as her eldest set of twins, now seven, was attempting to braid one another's hair, uhtred turned and chuckled at the horrendous job. he moved next to her and kissed her head as she leaned against his chest. their relationship was still rocky, she was insecure whenever aethelflæd was mentioned and probably would always be. but she had agreed to give him a second chance, his only chance.
