Write Our World (Part of "Never Abandoned A Mini One-shot Series")

Gallus heard a bump on his door. He sighed and opened it. There was a mailpony on the floor. She held out an envelope to him. Gallus rolled his eyes. He did not like receiving mail. He snatched the envelope out of the mailpony's hooves. He entered his room and slammed the door shut. He started reading.
Dear Gallus,
Help! There was a huge storm and all the houses have been destroyed and no Griffon wants to help anygriff. I really need your help, I hope you can!
-Gabby
Gallus eyes widened. It was as if somegriff told him that Griffons didn't exist. He knew he had to help, though once he opened the door, Silverstream was there.
"Hey, Gallus!" she greeted "We have a picnic today, remember? Aren't you coming?"
"Uhhh... no" he replied "There's an emergency in Griffonstone that I need to address"
"Can I come?" Silverstream asked with her signature irresistible smile. Gallus rolled his eyes and groaned.
"Fine" he said. Silverstream's eyes lit up. They prepared to leave for Griffonstone. Gallus filled a backpack with supplies and a bag of cookies for Gabby. Gallus was annoyed that Silverstream was coming, too, but she already felt like a sister to him, so why should he complain?
Once they arrived, Gallus saw the seriousness of the situation. He spotted Gabby and walked over to her. He was enveloped in a hug.
When they pulled away, Gabby turned to look at Silverstream.
"Who is she? Do you already have a griff friend, Gallus?" Gabby asked him. Gallus rolled his eyes playfully.
Before he left for the School of Friendship, he and Gabby had a bet. Gabby betted that he would find his special somecreature there, but Gallus being Gallus thought otherwise, and it looked like he'd won.
"No" he scoffed "She's Silverstream, and she's just my friend, just like everyone else at the School of Friendship"
"I don't believe you" Gabby said, with an almost playful smile. Gallus returned the grin. They always joked to each other a lot and Gabby felt like the little sister he never had.
He reached into his backpack and took out the bag of cookies and gave it to Gabby.
"For you" Gallus said. Gabby took it gratefully and began eating.
"How are the Griffons doing?" he asked.
"They're helping each other, so I guess it's great!" Gabby said with a smile that seemed sincere.
Gallus took a moment to look around. Griffons were talking and exchanging resources. They were working together to rebuild a house, but it wasn't going well. Gallus knew that friendship and teamwork was magic, but he wondered if maybe it wasn't the solution for this problem.
"Ya sure that we have to help the Griffons be nice to each other?" Gallus asked.
"Yeah. Friendship worked before, why wouldn't it now?" Gabby asked.
"Are you sure?" Gallus asked back. Gabby waved the question away. She believed that they had to say goodbye to their tough old ways.
"Think what you want. I'm going over to help" she said, then she flew over to the group of Griffons who were struggling to build a house.
    An old Griffon approached Gallus.
"What are you doing here?" the Griffon asked.
"Gabby asked me to help the Griffons work together" Gallus rolled his eyes at his own statement "I don't think it's working, though"
    The Griffon cackled.
"Of course it isn't. That Gabby Griffon is just forcing our kind farther and farther away from our true nature. Our true nature worked before, why wouldn't it now?" the Griffon asked Gallus.
Gallus was dumbfounded. Gabby had said the exact same thing to him, except it was about friendship, and not their true nature.
"Gallus," the Griffon said "You have the biggest look of doubt on your face. You trust me, right?"
Gallus thought for a bit, then he realized that for the first time in his entire life that he would trust this Griffon. He would trust Grandpa Gruff.
Gallus nodded. Grandpa Gruff headed over to the crowd of Griffons. Gallus and Silverstream followed right behind.
"Alright, Gabby, I think you're done 'helping' for now" Grandpa Gruff told her. All the attention was now on these two Griffons. Gabby felt like she was being publicly humiliated. She scanned the crowd of Griffons until she spotted Gallus.
"Gallus!" she shouted "Help me! You do trust me, don't you?"
Gallus felt guilty to do it, but he slowly shooked his head.
"Just give me a chance!" she continued to shout "Please, Gallus. Please"
"Fine" Gallus said. Gabby rushed to hug him.

Gallus sighed for what seemed like the trillionth time. He was standing behind a bunch of Griffons who were still trying to rebuild a house, but they weren't successful.
    He turned towards Grandpa Gruff.
"The state of Griffonstone's getting worse every minute" Gallus said.
"Glad you've come to your senses, kid" Garndpa Gruff said. It seemed like he was waiting for so long just to tell him that. Grandpa Gruff walked to the middle of the crowd.
"Alright, everygriff" he said "Cut off the 'kind' act! This is not who we are!"
"But friendship is magic!" Gabby intervened.
"But we Griffons don't do well with all this 'friendship' stuff. This here's the very proof" Grandpa Gruff said. The Griffons looked at one another and began murmuring.
Gabby scanned the crowd again until her eyes landed on Gallus. She felt betrayed, but Gallus, meanwhile, knew it was the right thing to do, no matter how much it would hurt Gabby.
Finally, one of the Griffons spoke up.
"Grandpa Gruff is right. All this time, we were using the pony ways, but we're not ponies" he said.
"Yeah!" another Griffon spoke up "We can't abandon our Griffon roots!"
More hoots, hollers and shouts came from the crowd.
"Alright" Grandpa Gruff said "Shut your holes and start working, or do you want me to kindly talk you into it"
The crowd soon dispersed and the Griffons began picking up resources on their own and minded their own businesses.

Soon, Gallus found himself looking at Griffonstone, up and running again. He didn't stop the small smirk that formed on his face. After all, this was mostly thanks to Gallus. Nothing will ever get rid of their Griffon pride, and it was stupid to think something would.
