Saggitarius: Chapter 6
"Oh, shit,"
Smolder couldn't stop thinking about what those two words Gallus said, especially since those words perfectly described the entire thing. S***. Everything was s***. Everything was getting bad.
They were stuck on this stupid piece of s*** and had nothing to show for it. She did not want to stay here. That was plain and simple and clear. Non of them wanted to stay here.
She couldn't help but groan as she plopped back down on the bed which she shared with Yona and had done stuff in, but she was willing to ignore that. She grabbed a pillow and slammed it to her face, cursing her odds and her life.
None of them for sure liked being here. They were living in some random house and what could probably be the most important building in the EH Nebula got burned.
Smolder wished they had better living conditions. It wasn't that the house was bad or anything. The house was quite good. It was just that she wished that there was something she could control in this new world.
She really loved being in control of something, so that after every unfortunate incident, there's still something she could hold on to. It was like that after her first Molt.
Her brother was luckily someone easy to control. It's not like she would manipulate him but every time she wanted to do something, he got her back, and whenever he wanted to do something, she got his.
After her first Molt and she stepped on to become her own Dragon, Garboe had been there to see her first flaps, her first fly. He teaches her how to reach the sky.
She could never be any more grateful for him. He was there when her parents weren't. They had a great life together, and when she moved to the School of Friendship, she was glad to have met such loyal friends.
Meanwhile, here in this smoking piece of junk that they call a nebula, she had absolutely no one who could possibly help her. Her friends were just as helpless.
Sure, Carina and Rosette existed, but the former seemes to busy with destroying her brother to hell while the latter seemed to be busy overcoming her gay crush on someone.
She honestly couldn't tell how dense creatures could get, sometimes. Sure, she loved being feminine and was really good at hiding it, but everything else she's ever done that she made so obvious? Like her crush on Yona?
Her friends were so oblivious to that. They had always been so oblivious. It was only when she told Yona yesterday that the Yak finally realised it and understood.
She was also a bit proud to say that the Yak loved her back, though Smolder wasn't going to admit that out loud to anyone. Ever. She sighed as she heard voices discussing about going to Pluto to probably s*** on Orion.
She could recognise Yona's voice and Smolder tried not to groan. She really did. But she couldn't help it. She didn't want her girlfriend to be away from her just after one day they got together.
She sighed, exasperated and helpless. She supposed she should just let the Yak do whatever the hell she wants, but she couldn't help but feel the least but worried for her. She hoped she would stay safe.
She trusted the Yak, too. She had to trust the Yak. She had no other choice, did she? She should know her girlfriend would be able to survive anything thrown in her path, because she survived everything before.
Smolder sighed, wondering whether she should just finally get out of bed. She probably should. She groaned as she stood up and opened the door, expecting to see Yona, and frowning in disappointment as she saw Rosette.
It wasn't that she hated the Pony. She was actually a good mare. She might have dated her if she didn't like the Yak so much. It was just that she never really had much time spent with her girlfriend today.
She had overslept later and she woke up in such a grumpy mood to not see the Yak beside her when she opened her eyes. She told herself that they were going to spend some time together today.
Unfortunately, all the plans came crashing down the moment she had opened the door, and she felt much grumpier now. She didn't wake up beside her girlfriend and was probably not going to spend time with her until much later.
"Hey, Smolder," Rosette said in such a soothing voice as she looked up to face the Dragon as she stepped out of her room. Okay, so maybe being stuck here with this Pony wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
"Hey," Smolder replied nonchalantly, suddenly not finding the motivation in herself to do anything at all so she plopped down on the sofa with a forever pout on her face with Rosette staring at her uncomfortably.
"Wanna go out? You know? For a walk? It's a nice day outside," the Pony said with a smile as she cocked her head towards the door. The orange Dragon found herself internally groaning once again. What a surprise.
"Look, I'm taken, and I have no idea what's the definition of 'nice' to you in a place like this," the Dragon replied with a shrug as she stared off into the distance, thinking of how nice kissing Yona would be.
"Well, there's a good amount of oxygen in the air and the stars are forming well," Rosette said just as casually as if it was an everyday thing for her and maybe it was.
"I'll take it," Smolder said, shrugging, as she stood up from the couch and placed both claws on her waist. She supposed that she could go on a walk to clear her head.
The Pony gave her a smile and the Dragon tried to shake the gay thoughts off by thinking of Yona and she was really starting to miss her girlfriend, but she reminded herself that the Yak was fine.
Smolder stayed back as Rosette opened the door for them and a strong and sweet scent was immediately blasted at her Dragon nostrils and made her sneeze fire briefly.
"Are you allergic to Nebularian Oxygen?" the Pony asked with her eyes growing wide, but the Dragon could tell she was humoured by the whole sneezing incident.
"'Nebularian Oxygen'?" the Dragon asked as she raised her eyebrows, making quotation marks in the air with her claws. She had to admit, though, sometimes this Pony was great to hang out with.
"Sneezing plasma is one of the allergic reactions," Rosette said with a giggle as they began walking through the street they were on, with no such destination planned in mind.
"'Plasma'?" Smolder asked as her eyebrows furrowed, her face scrunched up in confusion. She was starting to believe that the only time this Pony wasn't skeptical was when she was saying something she didn't know.
"Fire," the sea green Pony said with a lighthearted little laugh that seemed to ring clear as crystals in their ear, and the Dragon knew she couldn't stay mad at her for too long.
They continue walking and chatting and laughing and Smolder was starting to see what Carina really liked about this mare and she had to admit, Rosette was pretty cool.
Eventually, they find themselves bumping into somepony that looked very familiar and she had to take a while to put her claw on it before realising it was Saggitarius.
"Good day, Saggitarius," the sea green mare beside her spoke with a tone of both mocking and finality and the Dragon really had to congratulate her on pulling it off.
"And what may two creatures find themselves doing out here?" Saggitarius asked in his usual low gruff voice that made it seem like depression was permanently clinging onto him.
"It's a nice day, Saggitarius," Rosette replied as she scoffed a little bit because it was common sense. They really wanted to be outside because of the nice day and that was that.
"Indeed it is. It is going to be a silent day, therefore a beautiful day," the stallion replied and Smolder really wanted to just punch him in the face because she didn't have time for him.
"Oh, you're day's going silent, alright. Just wait until Carina shows up and gives you hell," Rosette had a small smirk on her face as she muttered just loudly enough for Smolder to hear.
The Dragon couldn't help but raise her eyebrows at that and giving the sea green Pony a look. It was quite obvious that those two EH Nebularians were best friends but she couldn't help but suspect that the Pony right beside her wanted them to be something more.
Then a thought flashes across the Dragon's mind, a though she'd never ever imagined to find herself thinking, but it decided to stay there anyway. Saggitarius was in charge. That was a fact.
Smolder blinked twice. Saggitarius was in charge. He was in control. This was pornably all she was every looking for over here. She needed control over things. She wanted control. "Mr. Saggitarius?"
"Yes?" Saggitarius asked, turning to Smolder and raising his eyebrow. It was only then did she realise that the stallion was quite tall and had a very threatening and imposive stature.
From the corner of her eyes, she could see Rosette's eyes grow wide and the Pony raised her eyebrows as if to say 'What the f*** are you doing?' But she mostly ignored her and shrugged whenever their eyes would meet.
"The incident with the giant upside down cone..." Smolder started before her eyes widened and she realised just exactly how stupid she sounded. She could swear she heard Rosette snicker behind her.
"That's the Engraved Hourglass to you. The other side of it is getting done, and is about to form into an hourglass shape," Saggitarius corrected her with a disrespectful huff in his voice that made her want to scoff.
"Well, about the Engraved Hourglass incident, what are you planning to do with it?" she asked, fighting so hard to not let her sarcastic side come out and ruin a potential connection with an authoritive figure.
It wasn't like Carina wasn't an authoritive figure. That mare sure had an air of authority around her, and many EH Nebularians seemed to respect her a lot, and she was their current Master's daughter.
The thing is, that was it. That was all the pink pony was. The Master's daughter. All she could do was hope that she could be Master even though in reality she couldn't.
No. Smolder needed somecreature with actual authority to grant her a peace of mind, and that was Saggitarius. Her friend may be the Master's daughter, but the stallion standing right here in front of her was the Master himself.
"Stay silent. We don't need the Engraved Hourglass Nebularians to panic. It's not a big deal," Saggitarius said as he slowly began walking away, but she walked alongside him.
"But it was Orion," Smolder pointed out and maybe that had just been one of the biggest mistakes she had made all day with the way the Master's eyes widened at the brief mention of his runaway son's name.
"Leave." Saggitarius said plainly, his voice clear. It was a plain order that she could have followed. If only she wasn't the stubborn and determined Dragon she was.
"Why? It's your son! You surely want to do something about him!" Smolder exclaimed, flying after the stallion as he tried to run away from her. She smirked.
This was one of the many times she was grateful she had wings. Flying gave her a really strong sense of supremacy and authority over another creature that was on the ground.
Though of course there were unfortunate moments when the creature to be reckoned with actually had wings. That was when having wings wasn't a big game-changer.
"No. We are not doing anything about him. We are staying silent. There's no reason to cause panic among my Ponies," Saggitarius said in a firm voice, shooting a short glare at Smolder.
She gulped. So this dude wants silence, huh? It was going to be quite tough for somecreature like her to stay silent, but if that meant being able to have control over things, she was sure as hell doing it.
"Silence. Got it. What do you want me to do?" she asked the stallion as she continued flapping her wings alongside him, and she could swear she saw a small smile form on his flat lips.
"Well, you could help me make plans to fix everything while keeping the calm of the Engraved Hourglass Nebula later," Saggitarius said with a small smile forming on his lips, and she could tell he was proud of her.
"Yes, sir, Saggitarius, sir!" Smolder exclaimed, landing on the ground and throwing a salute to the stallion who rolled his eyes with disappointment and he continued walking off.
She couldn't help but let a smug grin show on her face. She was doing it. She had done it. She had finally found a way to be in control of something, and on this lucky day, it was everything.
"What the f***ing hell was that about?!" Rosette asked as her eyes widened in confusion, stomping her hoof angrily on the ground. There it was, the confused Rosette. She loved making that sea green Pony confused.
"My dear, Rosette, I think that it is far too complicated for your tiny little brain to comprehend," Smolder said, raising her eyebrows playfully as she looked at the EH Nebularian and she could clearly tell she had pushed some of her buttons.
"What the actual f***ing f***? Who are you to assume I'm stupid?" Rosette snapped as she huffed with anger boiling in her veins as she rolled her eyes, but a little bit of disappointment could be seen in her eyes.
"I'm going to be the Master's right-wing Dragon. Just you wait," Smolder said, raising her eyebrows. She didn't really care if she hurt the Pony's feelings at this point.
She knew it was bad to act mean and rude like this, but she was stuck in outer space with a civilisation that she should supposedly help and the only way to do that is through the Master. She was practically saving their lives doing this!
"Well, it could be good, I guess," Rosette said with a small pout, but the Dragon could clearly tell that she was scoffing on the inside, but she was also intrigued.
"'I guess'? I guess?!" Smolder asked, her arms trembling from trying not to punch her in the face. Being the Master's right-wing Dragon was going to be very useful!
"I mean, we could have a spy on the inside, you know?" the sea green Pony said, raising her eyebrows and once again the skeptical Rosette had joined the conversation.
"'Spy on the inside'?" Smolder asked, almost scoffing. It sounded so stupid. What was that mare starting? A secret agency to overthrow the government?
"You know, for Carina. She really wants to be Master and I believe in her. Saggitarius is pretty corrupt anyway so..." Rosette said, shrugging, but the Dragon could see how her eyes lit up when she was talking about Carina, and once again she questioned how creatures could be so dense sometimes.
"As if I care about whatever your stupid girlfriend is doing," Smolder said, shrugging, and she couldn't help but feel the slightest but satisfied as the sea green pony beside her froze in her steps.
"G-Girlfriend?" Rosette asked, the word fully foreign on her tongue and the Dragon wanted to snicker at her so badly because they are so oblivious to literally everything.
"Yeah, don't you like her?" she asked raising her eyebrows as the mare trembled a little more and she honestly wished they weren't all so very much dense.
"W-Well, I l-l-like her, of c-course, she's m-my b-b-best fr-friend," the mare replied, stuttering over her words and the Dragon really hoped she could just admit it already.
"So why won't you tell her?" Smolder asked, placing a claw around the mare and watching her jump a little bit at her touch. She felt like a hypocrite for encouraging her to confess to Carina while she was too chicken to say it directly to Yona, and maybe she was a hypocrite for that, but she didn't want them to go down the same hill she had.
"What? No!" Rosette exclaimed, shaking herself out of the Dragon's arm, clearly unimpressed with the entire incident and much more bothered now than she was before.
"What? Why? It's just being honest with your feelings," Smolder said, raising her eyebrow with expectations as she crosses her arms. She was glad she didn't have to be a hypocrite that time.
"Look, I don't want to talk about it. Do you even want to help me and Car-car?" Rosette asked with the usual skeptical look back on her face as she bit her lip.
"'Car-car'? You two have pet names for each other?" she asked, squealing as she clasped her claws together, and she knew they weren't pet names but she still wanted to believe they were.
"They're not pet names! They're just nicknames! F***ing hell, I should stop talking about her in front of you," Rosette said as she rolled her eyes, clearly exasperated by this whole thing.
"Okay, so you and your 'Car-car' definitely aren't giving each other pet names," Smolder said with a sure nod, but deep down she couldn't help but believe otherwise, especially considering the blush on the mare's cheek.
"So are you going to help us or not?" the said mare asked, looking at her sternly and all signs of them joking around as friends a while ago was completely gone, replaced by a sense of formality that rubbed her scales the wrong way.
"I'll think about it," Smolder said as she began looking around the Engraved Hourglass Nebula, bored of the conversation. She almost didn't hear what the other mare said to her and she honestly couldn't care any less.
"Thanks!" Rosette said in such a sincere tone that made the Dragon look back at her and she seemes to be smiling so wide and she felt guilty for just thinking about it but swept that guilt aside and smiled as well as the other mare went galloping off.
Smolder took a deep breath looking at her suroundings. She was going to do it. She was going to be Saggitarius' right-wing Dragon. She could finally get control over something.
If she finally hd control over something, then why was she so nervous? She may not be the best at friendship, but she was plenty good at controlling stuff. She shouldn't get nervous.
The Dragon shook her head. She hoped there was cafeine here. She didn't care whether or not she's eighteen yet. By Dragon standards, she's all grown up.
Which was why Smolder was old enough to take on huge responsibilities, and yet there was still a voice inside of her screaming that she wasn't old enough, she wasn't ready.
She slapped her face the moment she could discern it belonged to Garble. She wasn't really a Dragon with voices talking to her in her head that often, but her big brother was different.
She loved and hated him at the same time, but she tried not to show the latter to him. Even though he could be overprotective of his little sister, she was glad he still cared.
But Smolder didn't want to have her brother's vouce following her everywhere she went in outer space. She knew that she didn't have his voice always talking to her, and she was grateful for that, but sometimes she wished it would stop altogether.
She started walking down a completely random street, not really caring which one it was, and normally began blowing fire from her mouth every few seconds, with the Ponies' eyes on her.
They hadn't seen a Dragon before? Screw them, she thought, because in the future there will be one Dragon that they knew, and they were going to be very grateful for her.
Smolder began walking and walking and walking as if her life had depended on it because she honestly had no idea what to do right now. She was going to have a meeting later with Saggitarius but she didn't want to deal with politics and all that s*** yet.
She found herself thinking about Yona. She was off with Rosette's girlfriend on a mission of sorts and she had agreed to help them how she could while being the Master's right-wing Dragon.
She wondered how badly she could f*** everything up.
