Home ~Song One-Shot~
Okaaay... So I won't dedicate song one-shots, because I'm terrible with them
About the song: HOME
~Home is sung by Kristen Bell and it is a deleted song from Frozen 2. I will be using the one used for the storyboard and not the one in the album so I won't change the lyrics, and it might sound inappropriate to Ponyville, but I will be using some scenes from the storyboard to make it a little more appropriate~
+*+ ON WITH THE ONE-SHOT+*+
I can't say if it's the breeze as it blows through the fjord
Gallus closes his eyes and relished the breeze that the Pegasi were making. He stood still on a cold gray stepping stone in the middle of the entrance of the School of Friendship. He was older now, definitely, and he had graduated from this very school a few years ago. He was allowed to stay in the neighborhood even after his student days, considering his previous state of living, being gifted a house beside his one of his best friend's. He closes his eyes as he smiles warmly.
The sun was high in the sky as always and the chatter of ponies could be heard all around. There were a few ponies playing music which were most probably DJ-Pon3 and Octavia, two of the many ponies that Gallus grew to appreciate. The birds seemed to join in as well and ponies' voices seemed to join as well. Professor Fluttershy, who was most definitely responsible for the singing birds, must be with Professor Rarity and the rest of the Pony Tones and they were probably have been having a collaboration concert near town hall.
Or the creaking of the ships as old board meets old board
Gallus smiles as he stretched out his wings and took off, flying south towards the recently opened Ponyville Dock. He flew and zig-zagged past many ships, waving at the ship ponies on board. There were different ships there, some were of the older versions like galleons, while some were much more modern, most of the modern ones definitely coming from Manehattan.
The waves gently crashing against the land didn't exactly complement the music going through the air, but Gallus thought it did. The wind here was definitely stronger and it smelled of salt. Gallus didn't mind, breathing it all in. He appreciated every bit of the place.
The ship ponies were hauling down goods and tossing them in a line. Gallus' face becomes deep in thought for a few seconds until he put on a smile and took a blank space in the line and helped the ship ponies toss and pass more goods.
Either way, for what it's worth, this perfect corner of the earth is home, my home
Gallus eventually resumed his little fly through the town and watched from a distance as he saw a pony get off a ship and galloped to hug his family. Gallus smiled warmly. He looked around in wonder. He spent everyday in Ponyville, so you could imagine that he felt like everything was repetitive, but that's the thing when you move into a much friendlier place. As everyday unfolded, it seemed to bring something new along with it, and maybe it did.
He beamed warmly and let everything, just everything come flowing through him. The happy ponies. The big smiles. The wonderful smells. The happy music.
He didn't mind the fact that the world was a big world. He knew that, but Ponyville was a small world of its own, and it had quite a charm. He didn't live in Ponyville. He lived with it. It was home.
Wandering through the town with everyone, doing all of their stuff
Gallus finally landed in the middle of a busy road with ponies hard at work. Some Unicorns were hard at work building something new, using their magic to lift the supplies, and Gallus didn't know what it was going to become. Some Pegasi were clearing the clouds, kicking and busting those clouds away to make a fine cloudless day. Some Earth Ponies were tending to, what Gallus could assume, a new batch of plants in Ponyville Park.
Gallus put on a determined face and helped the Unicorns lift more stuff like planks of wood. He knew that they didn't really need his help but he wanted to help them anyway. He wanted to help all of them.
He flew higher into the sky with the Pegasi and helped them bust a few clouds or two. He thanked Twilight for giving him a spell that could do that.
Then he flew down again, towards Ponyville Park and helped a couple of Earth Ponies plant an apple tree sapling. He could already tell it would grow into a great tree, even though it definitely won't turn into the Tree of Harmony.
Somewhere in my heart I feel I've not yet done enough
As Gallus flew through the town looking for more ponies to help, he stopped at a giant statue of Twilight and her friends saving Equestria with the Magic of Friendship. Equestria was really lucky to have them.
He has passed by this statue a lot of times but still every time he did, he stopped just to admire the wonder done by his old headmare.
Feeling a but unsure, he tried to strike the same confident, sure pose of Twilight, with a straight back and head held high, knowing that the Magic of Friendship would save the day.
Twilight had done so much for Equestria, and he hoped he could do as much as his mentor had.
For these people I know, this place that I love so is home, my home
Ponyville truly had so many amazing ponies that accepted each other and lived in harmony. Gallus really wished he could something great for them, just like Twilight did once upon a time.
Gallus looked around and saw a group of small foals playing at a tree. There were two Pegasi seated by a bench. He recognized those two. They were Holiday and Lofty, the two lesbian ponies who had decided to adopt a few foals. He was glad that the LGBTQ+ Community was roaming free here, and that there were no more parentless foals or fillies.
Then he saw a group of four ponies seated on another bench. Plumsweet, Daisy Dreams and Bon Bon, recently discovered to be Special Agent Sweetie Drops, were all seated normally like a pony, but Lyra Heartstrings had her hind hooves dangling over the edge of the bench.
Then he saw Big MacIntosh pulling a cart of apples with three ponies seated on those apples. The Cutie Mark Crusaders still loved riding on apple carts. Applebloom, Sweetie Bell, Scootaloo and Big Mac were all smiling happily, clearly enjoying riding the cart, or pulling it, respectively.
Gallus waved to every single one of them.
I whistle as I walk
Gallus flew around Ponyville, whistling a happy tune as he flew. He passed by two Pegasi who were whistling the same tune and he smiled.
Gallus passed by a group of Pukwudgies but didn't pay much attention until they had all started chasing him, throwing spikes from their pokey bodies. Gallus kept his cool, being much older and knowledgable now, and just continued whistling innocently and flying, but much faster now, knowing that, eventually, those Pukwudgies would give up following and just resume what had been interrupted.
Though it seemed to take longer than expected, to Gallus' relief, they finally did.
A lovely smell of kransekake
Gallus started walking again and passed by another pony pulling a cart of hay and he waved hello. Then he passed by three more ponies carrying apples, and Gallus waved hello once again. An apple from the third pony's basket fell down and he was having trouble picking it up so Gallus kindly picked it up for him, exchanging a happy smile.
Gallus then smelled something that definitely caught the attention of his entire being. It smelled of almonds. It smelled like pastry. But most importantly, it smelled sweet. And all Griffin had a sweet tooth. It was a unsaid Griffin Law that Gallus would be very much happy to follow.
Gallus followed the smell all the way to Sugarcube Corner, the best bakery in Ponyville, and probably all of Equestria. He opened the door and a jingle of a tiny bell announced his arrival. And the smell grew much stronger.
Wafting out of the baker's door
"Hey, Mr. Cake. Hey, Mrs. Cake," Gallus greeted the two main bakers with a smile.
"Gallus!" a high-pitches voice exclaimed. Shortly after, Pinkie Pie popped her head through the back door of the bakery. "I knew you'd come here!"
"You did, didn't you?" Gallus asked, striking a face of challenge, raising his eyebrow, but he knew it was useless since it was no secret that Griffin loved sweets and Pinkie Pie could predict anything anyway. "What's that I smell?"
"Oh, that's kransekake! It's a Scandimaneian dessert!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed, grabbing a pastry that looked like stacked cakes of different sizes, the biggest at the bottom and getting smaller and smaller. There were so many layers that it was almost half a meter tall.
Pinkie Piebroke off the top piece and handed "Taste it!"
Gallus ate it eagerly. The crust was hard at first but after he got past that, it was soft and chewy, but not too chewy. And it really did have an almond taste to it.
And he immediately fell in love with it.
The merchants haggling over fish
"THAT WAS REALLY DELICIOUS! You
have definitely outdone yourself, Professor," Gallus said loudly, quickly, and enthusiastically which could make him sound a bit jacked in the head but honestly he didn't care because that kransekake tasted like a piece of heaven right then and there but then again whatever was made at Sugarcube Corner always tasted like heaven so maybe he was overreacting.
"Would you like some more?" Pinkie Pie asked with a tempting smile.
"Sorry, but I have to decline the offer. I'm watching my weight and now I definitely have to go out for a jog," Gallus said, flashing Pinkie and the Cakes an apologetic smile as he went outside Sugarcube Corner.
Just a few steps outside and he found himself in the middle of two pony merchants tossing a fish back and forth to each other.
Remind me I have what I wish
Gallus looked at the two ponies and they were clearly having a Generosity Contest of some sort. It seemed as if they were intent on letting the other pony have the fish. He was very happy and touched by this scene. Ponyville was truly a place with wonderful ponies all willing to help each other and make a difference in the world.
After another throw from the pony to the right, Gallus surprised himself by catching the fish. He smiled bittersweetly at the fish, sorry that it had to go and die for food. He wasn't even sure ponies ate fish. Then he had an idea. He spotted a river and threw the fish back inside. His eyes then widened, scared of what he just did, until he realized it was a freshwater fish so it definitely wouldn't die in that river.
'Cause I'm not alone anymore
Gallus smiled at the two pony merchants and continued walking through the busy streets of Ponyville. It was truly a diverse town where everyone and everything was accepted. Every sexuality, every gender, every species. Everypony could love anypony. Everypony could make a contribution to ponykind. Heck, even other creatures could help one another for the betterment of Equestria. Gallus could sure as heck confirm that.
Ponyville was the best place to call home.
Everypony had a friend. Everypony had a place to rest their hooves after a long day. Everypony was friendly.
Gallus was glad that he wasn't stuck in Griffinstone anymore. He had no family. He had no roof over his head. There was not a single Griffin that ever noticed him, and for the more annoying ones that did, they just wanted to bully him. Other than Gabby, of course. That Griffin child was full pure light and positivity.
I'm grateful for this castle and for everything we've got
As Gallus flew, he reached the Castle of Friendship. He was truly grateful for this.
Of all the places in Ponyville, he had received this to call home
He was glad that Princess Twilight Sparkle and Headmare Starlight Glimmer allowed him and other students from outside of Ponyville to stay there as something of a free apartment, after Twilight had left Ponyville and the castle and had moved into Canterlot.
He then heard the choo-choo of the Friendship Express' whistle as it approached Ponyville Station. Gallus smiled. He was definitely more than satisfied with his life in Ponyville at this point. He then began walking towards Ponyville Station.
A lot of ponies waved at him and he took his time to wave back since all good things come to you when you're not rushing towards it and so he didn't mind the very slow-paced walk towards the station even though he would've enjoyed just sprinting to it.
Eventually, he arrived at the platform.
Especially my family; we've all been through a lot
Gallus smiled at a specific green Earth Pony he had agreed to meet up with as the doors opened to reveal a group of four creatures. One Changeling, one Hippogriff, one Dragon and one Yak.
Gallus' eyes sparkled and his smile seemed to grow wider as he hugged his friends, united once more.
Now, it didn't really mind him that he didn't have a family. His friends were all the family he would ask for, and he would always be eternally grateful for them, and the fact that it had to be expressed with two adverbs says a lot about his love for them and my terrible writing experience and knowledge.
Gallus really wished the best for them, all day, everyday. They've all been through a lot of life traumas and sufferings, and it was about time that they're lives would calm down.
I know how fragile things can be
Gallus held on to them real tight and part of him was afraid that he had suffocated them and they all died. That would be terrible. But they were all still hugging him so he didn't worry too much about that.
It's strange how hard creatures try to cling onto their loved ones, only to usually have them completely swept away from them unexpectedly, maybe forever. In reality, there are always unfavorable odds around the corner that could cause the death of the very ones you loves, or worse, destroy the very bond we have with them, and yet we cling on to the hope of those odds not becoming a reality but they usually would. And then you look around, envious of the happy facades people project to protect the privacy of their own pain.
Gallus didn't want to think about that. Not today. Not when his friends were right here, hugging him. They were happy. He was happy.
If I lost them, I'd lose me
And hopefully this happiness could last forever because in all honesty he could spend everyday with all his friends.
He followed Sandbar around nearly everyday, still slightly feeling like an outcast, and Sandbar was the only one who could help him feel that it was not so, and was the only friend who stayed in Ponyville. And he really appreciated Sandbar's passion for poems because sometimes a good poem was all it Gallus needed get himself to calm down.
He could also use Ocellus' brightness and guidance since that Changeling knew every single little thing and that was quite annoying but they were very useful indeed, especially when you need help. And the meditation that Ocellus and Starlight taught him was something he was also very grateful for because he never knew its calming effects.
Silverstream had always been surrounded by bubbles of positivity and had always had those bubbles of positivity inside of her and maybe her very being was made by those positive bubbles. And those artworks. Granted, they were abstract art but Silverstream had a knack for choosing the best colors and make them complement each other.
Smolder was always a better version of a Dragon which could make her a better version of a Griffin since Griffin and Dragon were agreeably similar in terms of attitude so he looked up to her a lot. And the tea and hot cocoas, that she claimed to come from a shop but he knew that she made them herself, were things definitely worth appreciating.
Yona had always been a very supportive friend and could make the lowest point of your life feel like you're standing on top of Mt. Everhoof which would be very suiting since she practically lived there. And Gallus appreciated the very effort and energy that Yona every so often used to make his day go better because that yak could be quite stubborn about it.
In short, he would probably always need his friends until the last day of his life and he would have no idea what to do without them.
They're my ocean, they're my shore
Then Gallus did something he didn't expect to do since he's a Griffin and he never really had the need to but he began crying and he mostly didn't know why but he could suspect that this was because of the amazingness of his friends and the happiness of seeing them again because who honestly wouldn't cry when they were with amazing friends?
His friends were literally everything he needed and the entire world could've just been composed of them and he would be complete.
I wanna give them more
But then again, since his friends were so amazing and make up the world he lived in, he obviously felt a deep urge to return everything they had given him. That was honestly going to be a very hard thing to do but he knew it was going to be worth it because it honestly would be. It was not just the fact that his friends gave him everything he needed that fueled this, though. It was also the fact that he loved them and genuinely wanted them to have the best life that they could ever have.
After Gallus had been forced to let go of his friends, he immediately started to lead them towards Sugarcube Corner because honestly if there was anything they deserved it was paradise but he supposed a taste of paradise would suffice.
They arrived at Sugarcube Corner and tasted the kransekake and it seemed that all their eyes lit up. Gallus smiled so wide, happy that his friends were happy. He didn't need his friends to live. He needed his friends' happiness to live.
They're my home, my home
Right that moment Gallus concluded that he didn't love his friends, he more than loved them. But since love is the most powerful version of it, he just got stuck with saying that he loved them.
Gallus smiled and it was clearly written on his face how much he loved his friends. If words did a very good job of showing it, then that big, bright, warm smile on his face amplified it some more.
He never truly experienced the meaning of home before. Griffinstone could be a house, if it would even be considered one, but it would never be a home.
Bless this happiness we've found
The moment his friends finished their pieces of kransekake, it seemed as if the dreamy appreciated filter over real life was removed and Gallus was swept into the very reality that he was there. Even though he was there, he was glad that his friends were there with him and even though he wasn't thinking about them so dearly, the bliss he felt a while ago still carried on and he found himself still smiling at his amazing friends and he just couldn't help but think that this moment was a blessing, this day was a blessing, his friends were blessings, and frankly his entire life as well.
It honestly couldn't get any happier than that.
Bless this good and solid ground
As Gallus and his friends stepped out of Sugarcube Corner, the warm and cheery atmosphere of Ponyville hit them all over agan.
Gallus was glad that everything, just everything - his friends, Ponyville, everything - was the same as before and nothing had changed much despite graduating from the School of Friendship and the changes of government in Equestria. But maybe he was also okay with things changing because now everything was just better than ever.
Gallus began walking down the bustling streets of Ponyville with a huge smile on his face, ready to admire everything again, because there was always something to admire in this amazing town. His friends flocked him on either side and they were wearing equally wide smiles on their bright faces, beaming at each other happily.
Our home, our home (Our home, our home, our home, our home, our home, our home, our home)
Gallus began chanting in a singsong voice, "Our home!"
His friends looked at each other and smiled. Even though four of them lived in different places, they could all agree that Ponyville would always have a special place in their hearts, and frankly, it was home.
They passed by Town Hall. Just as Gallus suspectes, there was a concert with DJ-Pon3, Octavia, the Pony Tones and Fluttershy's birds.
As they passed by, Rarity called everyone onstage to hold and she jumped of the stage. She began walking alongside the Young 6 and started singing as well.
The Pony Tone's eyes lit up and they followed Rarity as they sang with the Young 6.
Fluttershy smiled as she looked at her birds and kindly told them to fly along with her. Fluttershy caught up with the Young 6 and her birds came a few seconds later. Fluttershy then asked her birds to tweet along to the tune and they did.
DJ-Pon3 and Octavia looked at each other knowingly. Octavia, with her cello, got on top of DJ-Pon3's DJ set. DJ-Pon3 smiled knowingly and she made her DJ set move using its wheels until they drove all the way to the Young 6. She looked at Octavia knowingly and they launched into an epic dubstep-classical combo that harmonised with the Young 6.
I'm home
The crowd that were originally watching the concert all stood up and followed after the Young 6.
As Gallus and his friends passed by even more ponies, they dropped whatever they were doing to join in.
Soon, the group that just composed of six different creatures morphed into a bigger, more diverse crowd that composed of full-grown ponies and foals, mares and stallions and genderless and genderfluid, Pegasi and Earth Ponies and Unicorns, great singers and novice singers, and some ponies even busted out their instruments.
Gallus looked around and couldn't help smiling the widest he could as he sang. He was surrounded with good friends and a great town. He felt like this was all he ever wanted in his life.
"I'm home"

Two chapters published in one day. Whee!
Home had so many good feelings and I just had to use it for a one-shot! Even though my writing isn't good enough for it.
Whoops! Had a 4th wall breakage somwhere over there. Tell me if you spot it so I can fix the wall right up.
Also, I have included one tiny alliteration.
Gallus and Anna both flash mobbed. XD
Remember to spread the Magic of Friendship!
