Down Anemone Lane

"And over here is Mountain Road," Silverstream says, leading her friends down the road, "Over here is Anemone Mountain's favorite restaurant that has been preserved for five hundred moons!"
Silverstream is touring her friends around Mt. Aris, and they are currently in a peaceful part of it. There are many quaint little shops at Mountain Road, but it is truly famous for being a place that was frequently visited by Anemone Mountain, Silverstream's grandmother.
Ocellus stands by a bookstore, eager to enter and get some high quality books written by Hippogriffs through the ages. Mt. Aris is a very interesting place to live in, and she can't wait to learn all about it.
Smolder stands beside her, sneaking peeks at the tea shop right across them. Her claws are itching to take a cup of seaweed tea.
Sandbar looks longingly at the pleasant bays that are awaiting them at the bottom of the mountain. They will eventually go down there once they finish their tour of Mt. Aris.
Yona walks up to Sandbar, wary of him falling into the sea. She has learnt to trust her friends, but it can't hurt to be a little cautious.
Gallus walks from shop to shop, admiring everything. Sure, he's not one to be obsessed with shopping, but Griffinstone comes with terrible commodities, and he welcomes every opportunity for new, better things.
"Granny loves this restaurant. She told my mom when she was just little she would come here everyday and order coral croissant. She says it tastes absolutely delicious. And one time, when she was eating sea salt ice cream, it fell on the ground and she licked it!"
And there's Silverstream. Rambling to her friends. As usual.
"Ah..." Gallus says, taking a break from window shopping, "So that's how you got your weird personality"
Silverstream glares at Gallus, determined to not let her grandmother be insulted by some creature. Even though that creature is her friend.
"Hey! My grandmother is not weird. She kept Mt. Aris safe from threats like Flaring Sunrise," Silverstream says.
"I'm kidding. I'm kidding," Gallus says as Silverstream punches him in the stomach.
"You better be," Silverstream says, glaring at Gallus. She lifts her fist and prepares for another punch, but is stopped by Smolder's voice.
"Hey!" Smolder shouts, "What's in here?"
Smolder is standing at an intersection off to the left. Beside her stands a pink and yellow street sign wrapped in ivy. Mountain Road is written in a beautiful golden script on the painted pink wood that points to the road. Another sign points to a small street heading off down the mountain and into the woods, with a few shops and houses scattered about here and there. It reads Anemone Lane.
"Oh, no. I'm not going down there," Silverstream says in a trembling voice, backing away from the serene street.
"Why can't you go there?" Ocellus asks, walking over. She notices the commotion and wants to know what is happening.
"I can't," Silverstream replies simply, "I just can't"
Sandbar walks over to them as well, accompanied by Yona.
"Come on, Silverstream," Sandbar says, playfully punching her, "Spill the beans"
Silverstream laughs nervously, then scratches the back of her head.
"Haha... I was just teasing you guys," She continues her usual demeanor. "Let's go!"
Silverstream flies down the street.
They approach a supermarket, but then two Hippogriffs are exiting it. The female Hippogriff's eyes light up once they catch sight of Silverstream. The blue Hippogriff walks over towards her.
"Silverstream, darling!" the Hippogriff greets, "How nice to see you again!"
"Uh... Hi, Aunt Ivy Wave," Silverstream says.
The yellow male Hippogriff notices Silverstream, and walks over to her as well.
"By Jove. Silverstream? Is that really you?" the Hippogriff says with a laugh, "Been so long since we last saw you, old chap!"
"Grassy Breeze!" Ivy Wave scolds her husband, "Did I not tell you, dear, to never speak to Silverstream like that?"
"Sorry, hun," Grassy replies, "It's just been so long"
"Well, it certainly hasn't been that long, has it?" Ivy looks at Silverstream again, examining her. Silverstream also looks at her old friend's mother. Ivy has developed a few more wrinkles, Silverstream has noticed, but her orange mane remains as brilliant as ever.
"Sil, would you like to visit our house one more time? Caballus misses you," Grassy asks Silverstream.
Silverstream's ears perk up in alertness at that.
"Ehehehe... No, thank you," Silverstream says then flies out Anemone Lane, leaving a confused couple - and the rest of her friends - behind.
The Young 6 follow Silverstream back onto Mountain Road, panting.
"Why did you not want to go to their house?" Ocellus asks, "They seem friendly"
"Well..." Silverstream starts her story...

It's Silverstream's first day at Anemone Mountain Elementary School. It's scary. Not only is this school on the very edge of Hippogriffia, but this is also her first time attending an actual school. For the past ten years, Silverstream was taught by private tutors.
"See you soon, sweetie," her mother says, waving at her.
"I love you, mother!" Silverstream shouts back, then turns her attention to the intimidating institute in front of her. Hippogriffs and Seaponies enter the school, even a few Ponies. That really scares her. A completely new a different breed. Sure, Hippogriffs are part-pony, but still...
As she enters the school, she realizes that she knows nothing about it - or no one, for that matter. A scared, lonely Royal Hippogriff, who everygriff disregards, except for this blue and yellow Hippogriff.

"Wait. Wait. Wait," Ocellus says, "Blue and Yellow? That sounds like Gallus"
"Yeah," Silverstream says, "That Hippogriff was the first thing I thought of when I first saw Gallus"
"What Hippogriff name?" Yona asks.

"Caballus" the Hippogriff says, holding his claw out.
"Silverstream," she replies, shaking Caballus' claw. His eyes widen.
"Silverstream? As in the Silverstream? The Royal Silverstream?" Caballus asks.
"Yeah?" Silverstream replies.
"I am so honored to meet you," Caballus says, bowing, "I'll show you around!"
Caballus leads Silverstream to a tour around the school, and soon enough, they part ways to head off to their respective classes. Silverstream's first class is Pony Studies. She shivers. Studying another breed scares her. Gulping, she enters her classroom.

For the past days, Caballus and Silverstream have been spending a lot of time together. They always meet during break time and sit together, and Silverstream always places her claw on the table. On really rare occasions, Caballus places his hand on the table as well, but usually to get something. His gentle skin would brush against Silverstream's, making her heart run around. Since the incident is ever so rare, she is always waiting for the next chance to touch him.
As the days fly by, Silverstream becomes bolder. She sits closer to Caballus. Each day, she always measures the space between them. She scoots closer about an inch the very next day. Up until their bodies are touching.
"Uhhhh... Silverstream?" Caballus asks, turning to her. Due to the close distance, his beak touches hers.
"Yes?" Silverstream asks, looking up from writing her essay, appearing completely unaffected. Deep inside, though, she feels like she has arrived at paradise, with brilliant sunshine and the perfect breeze.
"Nothing. Never mind," Caballus replies. Silverstream, excited, tries to press their bodies even closer. Then, she fakes a yawn, resting her head on his shoulder.

During one lunch time, they sit together, the close proximity still present, and he asks her about her Royal Life.
"I'm pretty sure you miss your Royal Life," he says. She doesn't respond, but she knows that she will give everything up, even her Royal Life, to spend each day by his side.

"Silverstream," her mother says one day when they have some special mother-daughter picnic in the Harmonizing Heights, "Hippogriffs have been reporting that you are spending your time with this blue Hippogriff"
"Yes, mother," she tells her mom, "I may think I'm starting to have a crush on him"
Silverstream's cheeks turn their favorite shade of scarlet as she says it. Hopefully her mother doesn't say anything. The last thing she wants to know is for him to find out.
Little does she know that there is a Hippogriff nearby who studies at their same exact school...

During lunch the next day, Silverstream enters the cafeteria. As she enters, the students start whispering among themselves.
"Oh my Novo. She has a crush on Caballus?! He's too good for her" Silverstream overhears a Hippogriff say to her friend at their table.
So that's what the chatter is all about...
Silverstream's face are painted in a bright shade of pink, even though her face is actually pink.
She knows that it won't be wise to go to her usual table right now, the table he sits on, but she decides to try. She walks across the cafeteria, trying her best to appear unaffected and poise notwithstanding the situation. As she approaches her table, her cheeks can't help but turn even pinker. The Hippogriffs seated there start exchanging whispers, snickering and laughing. Silverstream will never be with him.
And then he notices her. The blue Hippogriff lifts his head up, his yellow mane moving in a very hot and seductive way.
Silverstream blinks. She must stop thinking these thoughts.
His pleasant voice breaks her concentration.
"Silverstream?" he asks, "You have a crush on me?"
Silverstream can't take it anymore. She abandons her life in Anemone Mountain Elementary School and flies out of there, not looking back.

"After that, my parents tried to find a better school for me, and that's when they found the School of Friendship," Silverstream says, changing the subject, too embarrassed to talk about her old friend any longer.
"That must have sucked," Smolder says. She knows that she isn't the only one who wants to offer her support to Silverstream, so she changes the topic back to Silverstream's worst nightmare.
"It must have been so humiliating," Ocellus says, shuddering at the thought.
"Silverstream must really loved Caballus," Yona says.
"Oh, Yona," Silverstream says, "I never loved him. I love him"
At this, Gallus grunts ever so slightly, but it was so soft that none of his friends hear him.
      Silverstream sighs.
"Not like that will happen, anyway, though," she says.
"We feel so bad for you," Sandbar says.
Gallus stays silent.
Sandbar subtly gives him a look. He raises an eyebrow at Sandbar. Feeling that he'll be hopeless, Sandbar walks to him.
"Why don't you say something to Silverstream?" Sandbar whispers.
"I'm sorry that you fell for a sorry Griff like him," Gallus says.
"You totally missed the point, but okay," Sandbar murmurs.
"We all feel bad for you, Silverstream, and your situation might have been terrible," Ocellus says, "But I still think you should talk to him again"
"How?" Silverstream asks. Ocellus smiles and she steps up next to her friends.
"With us!" Ocellus says enthusiastically. Silverstream sees how truly supportive her friends are. Ocellus is always there for wise advice. Smolder is willing to back you up anytime. Yona's nice personality leads her to always have good intentions. Sandbar will try his best to empathize with you. Gallus... Well... Silverstream's afraid to say anything about him, but they go along the lines of he's the best creature I have ever met.

She finally does it. Silverstream finally goes down Anemone Lane and knocks on the door of her old friend. A blue Hippogriff answers the door.
"Hi, Silverstream," the Hippogriff says, stepping aside to let Silverstream and her friends in.
"Hi, Caballus," Silverstream says as she steps into the house, "I believe we have a lot to catch up on"
