THE CALL OF THE LEADER

Nina was suddenly awakened by her grandmother.

"We're being attacked, quick!" She said pulling the young woman out of bed.

Nina immediately jumped to her feet and started running, followed by her grandmother. It seemed that the attack had come by surprise, not letting anyone see it coming from the hill. Nina wondered what had happened to Anthony. She ran in the same direction as the crowd that was fleeing at full speed in panic. Some tried to flee by forcibly getting into or onto the only two vehiclesstill functioning. Realising that she was probably running too fast for her grandmother, Nina turned to search for her figure in the small human tide that was carrying her away. She saw her running further behind them, alone, far from them, her race having taken her too far from the others.

"Grandma!" Nina screamed as she started running towards her grandmother.

"Nina, no!" Anthony's voice cried from behind her as he grabbed her arm firmly.

Nina turned to the young man; his face was bleeding.

"We have to keep moving forward with the group," he said dryly before adding more calmly, pulling her by the arm, "Please."

Nina turned back to her grandmother. The woman in her fifties was on the ground as her assailants rushed at her with their mouths wide open. The young woman screamed with all her might as she tried to free herself from Anthony's grip The young man was still holding her tight while pulling her against him.

"Nina, it's too late, you can't do anything to save her, you can only save yourself with everyone else. Please, listen to me!" Anthony repeated tirelessly, pulling her.

As Nina caught a glimpse of her grandmother's inert body between the legs of the attackers all clustered around her, she let Anthony pull her in the other direction Then, she began to run at full speed with the group.
