THE REAPINGS

CHAPTER ONE

You gather in the same place every year. In ordered rows, penned in like cattle according to age and gender, forced to obey the fate that has been chosen for you, or take your destiny into your own hands... but it all ends the same way.

You stare, numb... or maybe ecstatic, as a brightly coloured personality takes the stage. An overused and limitlessly biased piece of propaganda film plays on a screen bigger than your house. The same discriminatory video that is shown each and every year. It's ending it met with silence, or maybe scattered applause, or maybe an eruption of support... the latter tends to be less common.

Grinning, that vibrant figure steps forward, their pearly whites glistening in the sunlight and growing rapidly closer to the mic.
The ramble for a while, generally expressing their positive opinion on the Capitol and the obnoxious clip that had just played. But eventually, the moment came that everyone had been waiting for.

They step up to two glass bowls, each full of small slips of paper, and each paper contained a name, and each owner of those names was watching... observing silently, waiting to test their luck.

"As always... ladies first..."

There will be a Chain for each district, and some time before the reaping for you to explain a little about your characters life in the district, and also possible interact with the other tribute even before you're reaped/volunteer.

There will be mentors, but rather than having them be at the reapings they will be met later. They'll come in briefly at the tribute centre. Often they don't play a huge part, in theory, they should, but I've chosen to purposefully make mentors a less prominent aspect of the roleplay.

This chapter will also have the train ride, just to keep things together. The next chapter will be the parade, just to a give you an idea of what events this chapter will actually contain.
