After their moment of honesty and talking about their future last night Riley has been working up the nerve to go to Palmer about getting the discharge papers ready for when their deployment is up but Riley kept it from Sam, afraid that Sam wasn't serious last night that this was all just a pipe dream that Sam had thought up, Riley didn't want to believe that so he would suffer the repercussions about not telling Sam later first he had to figure out if it was even possible with the EXO-7 Falcon stuff that they were into because it was no use bringing it to Sam if they were trapped because of the stupid contract they signed.

Riley paused walking towards the tent that held Palmer's office to berate himself, he should've looked at the contract closer but he also didn't want to blame himself that much because they had only talked about not redeploying once but since they've deployed they've talked about it much which has to mean something because it means something to Riley. Riley shakes his hands that were at his side before running a hand through his growing hair, he gulped and started to walk towards the tent. He knocked on the metal pole and waited until he heard Palmer's voice telling him that he can come into the tent. "Come in!" Palmer replied, Riley, let out a breath before pushing the tent flap back and walking into the shaded area towards where Palmer was sitting behind his desk in the middle. "Diaz, what a surprise. Please, sit."

Palmer gestured towards the folded chairs in front of the desk so Riley nodded and pulled out a chair before taking a seat, he felt how clammy his hands were so he wiped them on his pants nervously before looking at Palmer who was eyeing him curiously. "I have a question, for you specifically." Palmer squinted his eyes. "Are you coming to me as a friend or an officer?" Palmer asked placing his clasped hands on top of his desk. "Both? I don't know." Riley sucked his teeth before looking down at the dirt floor under his feet. "I'm going, to be honest, lately Sam and I have talked about not deploying once this deployment is over and starting a family. In states that will allow us of course, but I was wondering if it's even possible because as I was walking towards the tent I realized that we signed the contract for the EXO-7 Falcon's so I'm worried that we're stuck until the government decides that we can go."

Palmer winced as Riley was talking and folded his hands in his lap, before tilting his head to the side looking at Riley carefully. "Well, since EXO-7 is a 'secret' if you will. You aren't bound by anything so obviously, this was your last tour unless you re-upped for another 4 years but it doesn't sound like your going to be doing that so do you want me to start the paperwork for you to be discharged by the time this tour is over?" Riley paused, he looked over his shoulder behind him. Whenever the slight wind blew the tent flop opened slightly so Riley can see Sam laughing with Lina, he turned back to Palmer with a grin. "Yes, start it for both of us. If you can don't tell Sam." Riley put his hands out quickly when it looked like Palmer was about to protest. "Just not yet, I didn't tell him I was doing this." Riley was seconds away from spilling his feelings to Palmer but he reframed, he was Riley's friend, that's true but he was also his boss, so Riley had to be careful with whatever he said to Palmer. "Okay, but if Sam sees the paperwork on my desk I won't lie to him. I'm only doing this because you're a couple." Palmer paused seeming to think about his next words. "And I think you guys are cute together," Palmer grumbled out making Riley let out a quiet cheer standing up and raising his hands. "Diaz, sit back down." Palmer barked but his voice had no bite to it so Riley just chuckled but he obeyed the light order.

"Now, I'll look through these papers and I'll see if I can't process the request but I'm sure you knew that you would have to finish these last couple months for this tour then if this goes through the two of you can be discharged." Palmer trailed off and smiled at Riley who couldn't wipe the beaming smile off of his face. "Thank you, Palmer, seriously. I know that you are our boss slash supervisor but you've also become a friend. When we came out to you both of us were scared you could've hated the fact that we are two men and reported us but you helped us. If we do leave I will never forget that." Riley sniffed but he looked away from embarrassment. "Hey, I can't imagine anyone else being on my squad. I would protect you all from the ends of the earth, I just hope that the world gets better for the two of you because you don't deserve it." Palmer held his hand out and Riley shook it quickly before huffing and leaning over the desk to pull Palmer into a quick hug which he huffed out a laugh but he squeezed before Riley let go.

"I should go, but thank you. Again." Riley said when they parted, Palmer nodded at Riley with a smirk as Riley turned around pushing the tent flap aside to walk out into the dusty surroundings. Riley smiled when he saw Sam talking to someone, he wanted to run up to him and kiss him but he couldn't so he walked behind Sam and rubbed his back sneakily, Riley felt Sam tense before he relaxed when he realized who it was. "Hey Riley, I saw you go into see Palmer, everything alright?" Riley could see the concern in his eyes but Sam kept the concern on his face to a minimum. "Everything is alright, dumbasser."
