Riley glanced over at Sam who was twiddling the cross necklace that was tucked in his shirt. They had to have their personal effects covered just so it wouldn't get caught on anything or be distracting but Riley could still notice what he was doing. "Hey, you okay?" Riley asks knocking their shoulders together, they were sitting in their tent waiting for their next assignment from Palmer. "Yea, just been hard. I told you this before we left but I don't know if I want to do this anymore. I'm tired of killing the innocents in the crossfire." Riley ran his hand through his hair before blowing out a long breath.

Riley nods before linking their pinkies together. "I get it, I think I make take your advice and not reenlist. I want to live a life with you, not be in hiding with you because we deserve better Sam. I want to live next to my parents or yours. I want to have kids, I want to marry you one day." Sam tightened his finger that was interlocked with Riley's. "Riles, we might not even be able to do that one day. Unless you're talking about just a ceremony but it wouldn't be legal. You know this Riley." Riley smirks and looks around making a show out of it before he kisses Sam on the cheek. "I know, but like you said just a partnership ceremony. It wouldn't be legal but it would be ours, we could have our family." Riley presses his lips together before squeezing his hand but keeping it there instead of pulling away.

Sam nods and twiddles his necklace again. "You want to have a child together?" Sam looks up suddenly like he had realized what Riley had said. "I do if you want that of course. It would be a little challenging of course but not impossible." Sam smiled at Riley before nodding rubbing his thumb where they were still holding hands. After a few moments of silence, Riley looks at Sam with soft eyes. "Do you think we're going to get accepted for the government assignment?"

He was quiet as he pondered his answer but instead of nodding, he shrugged. "I don't know, but I know that if one of us get accepted I'm turning it down. I don't want to do anything without you again, I don't want us to be separated." Riley slowly got closer towards Sam before he kissed him softly on the lips.

They jumped apart when they heard the tent start to open, Riley grabbed Sam's knife that was under his pillow while Sam grabbed the gun he kept by his bed. They both sighed with relief when Lina walked into the tent along with Palmer walking in behind her. "Thank god it was just us," Lina smirked as she walked towards Riley's cot and took a seat, instead of sitting next to her Palmer just stood in the middle of the tent. "You two have to be careful, I hope you know that." Palmer looked at the two of them with crossed arms.

Sam and Riley looked at each other before scooting apart slightly before looking at Palmer and nodding. "Of course Sir, we just were talking." Sam gulped tapping his finger on the bed, Riley itched to take a hold of his hand but he resists. "Okay, just be careful next time. The reason why I'm in here is I wanted to notify you two that you've been accepted for this government project."

Riley sucked in a breath at what Palmer said. "Do you know what the project is?" Riley asks rubbing his hands together in between his legs. Palmer shakes his head which makes Sam frown. "I don't but we should know in a few weeks. They should be sending over a package along with whatever the project entails. I'm not sure if you will still be stationed with us or not, if not you will have to leave to go where they tell you but hopefully, you don't have to move. Don't tell anyone this but we like you here, I like you all." Palmer looks at Sam and Riley before glancing over at Lina with a smirk on his face, he was known as a hardass boss but he seemed to have a soft spot for these 3 in his squad.

Lina chuckles before slapping her knees grabbing the attention of the three men in the tent. "I gotta agree. I love you three, I don't know how I got stuck with you but I selfishly hope you don't get resigned. I know it's unhealthy to get attached to your team because we don't know what will happen but it's like we're a giant family." Sam looked down sadly when Lina said you don't know what will happen but Riley smirked. "Palmer is for sure the Dad, always the hardass but he's secretly a softy." Palmer snapped his fingers at Riley and shook his head. "That's enough out of you, if you say anything else you'll be on latrine duty." Palmer rolled his eyes when Sam and Riley both laughed immaturely.

Palmer shook his head and turned around and opened the tent flap walking out of it, Lina shook her head fondly before standing up and walking over to Sam and Riley, she squeezed them on the shoulder comfortingly before walking out of the tent herself leaving the couple alone again.

"We did it, baby," Sam said grabbing Riley's hand again squeezing it before bringing it up to his lips and kissing Riley's knuckles. "That we did dumbasser, we're doing this together." Sam rolled his eyes and knocked his shoulder against Riley's. "I love you, dumbass."
