Nowhere To Go

"I'm not going." Gracie protested, turning another page in her book.

"You can tell him everything."

Gracie glared at Dr. Min.

"And risk 'fractures' as you call them. How do you know he won't turn out like Jimin?"

Dr. Min sucked in a frustrated breath.

"Don't say his name."

"Why? Because he still sits in your dreamscope facility with shaky hands and no way to get a grip on this world."

"I—I want you to be happy." His tone resolute.

"You think I can just be like oh it was all in your head. You heard me tell you all the things you knew when you woke up. That my real name is Y/N.... And I got my nickname from being a clutz."

"Eventually he will find out the truth. Your real name. Then what?"

"Why would that be such a bad thing?"

"Why now?"

Gracie slammed her book closed.

"I'd rather him have a life then one staring out a window with empty eyes."

She stormed out of the coffee shop, jumping into a taxi.

For the longest time Yoongi didn't want her to reveal her name. To play along with the charades. She would occasionally slip up when she saw Jin. Although she didn't realize she was. How could she know what he imagined in his comatose state.

Jimin was lost to him. Jin isn't. He's clear minded, although sad because nothing makes sense. Gracie felt guilty for that. However, it was something she could deal with if it meant he would be able to live a normal life.

How could he ask her to do that? After everything he went through with Jimin. Hoseok is struggling with his self confidence based off paintings that probably don't exist. Paintings that probably never will exist.

Not to mention the skill he said the painter had, her sister just didn't have it. Maybe they weren't as extravagant as she was thinking. She just couldn't break Jin like that.

He meant too much to her and Jin didn't have a clue.

"Where to, miss?" The Cabi asked, patiently waiting for her response. Gracie looked up into the rear view mirror.

"The Sunshine Studio."

"You got it."

As the Cab pulled the curb, Gracie watched Yoongi run outside onto the sidewalk. He'd been her best friend for the past three years since she started working.

Why was it so hard to just do what he asked. To tell a guy she barely knew that the world he created were based off her own experiences and some of her sisters. Even the proposal he had done. Sure he forgot my sister's name and replaced with her own. Then made himself the man asking the questions.

Gracie sighed, resting her forhead against the cool glass window.

"What if I tell him everything...and instead of fractures. He breaks my heart instead?"

"Sometimes you just got to take a leap of faith." Replied the Cabi, he smiled at her through the rear view mirror. He reminded her of one of those older men you'd see playing chess in the park on a cool spring day. Genuinely happy with their surroundings, head completely immersed in every single movement the other man made.

"I'm worried about the fractures."

"All decisions have risks. Sometimes you have to risk it all in order to get what you want. I'm assuming it's a young man."

"Yes..."

"Well, follow your heart, lass. You'll be fine."

Easy for him to say, he didn't know the whole story. Cautiously he pulled down the dark alley pulling up to the door. He grimaced, looking back at her over the seat.

"You sure you want me to drop you here?"

Gracie nodded, handing him money for the ride.

"I'll be fine, thank you."

"Take care." He waved briefly.

"You too."

Outside in the cool evening air, Gracie's eyes drifted to the cloudy night sky.

"Cloudy like my brain. Unable to help me decide."

She knocked on the door, listening for the shuffle of feet. A moment later the one person she didn't think would answer, answered.

"Jin—"

"Oh hi. Thought you were pizza. Come in." He smiled.

"Pizza? Where's Hobi?"

"I'm right here." He waved with a half smile on his tired face.

"What are you guys up to?"

"Yoongi dropped him off and left... uh— talking nonsense I guess. Now we are waiting for food."

Gracie frowned, why would he just leave the two here and take off? Was it to find her? Was this his plan?

She looked at both of them. Jin seemed a bit tired, but he wasn't drained like Hobi. Were their conditions the same?

What happened in the dreamscope?

"Gracie?"

"Huh?"

"You spaced out there."

"Right. One second." Gracie scurried off to the bathroom, pulling out her phone to call Yoongi.

"Hello?"

"Why?"

"Why what?" He asked, confused.

"Why are they both here?"

"Where?"

Gracie let out an exasperated breath.

"The Sunshine Studio."

"Oh so you did go there. How strange."

"What?"

"Nothing, see you soon."

What was he trying to accomplish with both of them here?

The door to the front of the studio opened and Yoongi walked in. He had a smile on his face, a smile that numbed Gracie to the core.

She stood there beside Jin, staring at her friend who seemed anything but at that moment.

"Hobi you remember Gracie, right?"

Hobi sniled, his sad eyes coming to life briefly. Yoongi grinned, stopping right in front of Jin.

"And you. Do you know Gracie?"

Gracie's eyes bugged out at the emphasis he put on her name. He was going to reveal who she was even if she didn't. What was the point in her being here?

Jin looked down at Gracie, a small smile on his face.

"Of course. She works at your office and facility. She is a very kindhearted person."

She couldn't look at him after that. A person who was kind wouldn't allow someone to think they were crazy. They would have told them outright what had happened from the get go.

However, Yoongi said he could turn out like Jimin. Let him do his studies. Make sure that he wouldn't have fractures.

"Stop."

Yoongi tilted his head to the side. He only wanted Gracie to be happy. He wanted her to be his. Alas her heart belonged to the clueless man in front of him. He had captivated her in a way that even his sweetest demeanor couldn't sway her affections.

"Stop what?"

"You know what."

"Okay... Explain how this man knew about the musical number I created for you. For only you to hear. How could he know it before I played it in public? Unless... unless you recorded it. That intimate moment. For what? You didn't want me. So why record the song that was supposed to encase our love forever. For what? To have a comatose mind twist it and make it into a romantic thing between himself and Y/N. Tell me Gracie... Who is Y/N?"

Both Hobi and Jin stared at her awaiting an answer.

She felt trapped with nowhere to go. She was cornered by three pairs of expectant eyes. One demanding an answer with a hateful grin. One she'd never forget. The other two filled with confusion and one a glimmer of hope in a dark void that had been surrounding him since he woke up.

"You honestly can't expect me to answer that." Gracie practically begged Yoongi with her eyes to let it go. His expression never waivered until Jin placed a hand on Gracie's shoulder. Yoongi's lips pulled into a tight line as he sucked in a breath.

"Please..." His tone was sweet. His eyes when she looked up into them were soft and pleading. There was no anger. Just his soft brown eyes begging her for the answer he had been longing for for so long.

"I—I" Gracie stammered, breaking her gaze to find Hobi sitting on the couch with his head in hands. Yoongi stood still. It was as if the air had been sucked from the room.

Should she say? What's going to happen when she tells him?

Gracie swallowed hard, building up the courage to tell the man she had grown to love even when he wasn't awake, the truth.

A truth that could break him.

Slowly her eyes met Jin's once more. Her heart racing with fear in hope to find the courage.

"My real name is Y/N."
