Fracture

Time heals all wounds to an extent. Although a nasty scar or a bitter taste resides. Some people are able to move on with their mundane lives. Mind you not everyone has such simplicities in their routine. It's just what most people wish for.

Jin rested his chin on his forearm as he stared out the window. The sun was shining brightly, giving hope to a new day. Birds chirped their little songs that even the flowers seemed to dance to.

He envied them. They didn't have to worry about much. Aside from getting plucked out the ground to be given to someone as a gift. Or as a sentiment of love. Their delicate state displays how easy love is to shatter and wither away. Becoming tiny fractures in our souls.

Some flowers even expressed sadness through their names. For example one is called a bleeding heart. Beautiful when compared to most and yet pales in comparison to Y/N's favorite.

Orchids.

Fun fact she told Jin once. That people in the 1800s paid thousands of dollars for one single orchid plant. Whereas today we can find them for about twenty dollars.

People back then would go into a frenzy for them which became known as Orchidelirium. Fascinating and both relateable given Jin's circumstance.

Y/N was Jin's orchid and he was going crazy without her.

It had been several days since he went through the dream scope. Dr. Min said that all his scans looked great. It even showed him dreaming. Which meant he wasn't seeing just pitch black darkness.

Being in this room with the soothing blend of paintings and colors helped keep the memories at bay. Sure he remembered them well. However in this place... no one could tell him that they didn't actually happen. Jin was thankful for that solace.

"How are you feeling?" Her voice was that of a whisper. Jin closed his eyes, turning to face her.

"Y/N?"

"No..."

Jin opened his eyes to see Penelope standing in the doorway. She had on coveralls splattered with paint, her long hair tied up with a pink ribbon.

He felt the residual pain. A constant reminder that the person he thought existed was only a figment of his comatose imagination.

"Sorry..." he sighed, picking up his notebook from the end table beside him. Quickly he wrote down the feelings he felt. His lip trembled slightly, trying to keep
it together.

"I— uh. Namjoon told me not to come. That I only made your condition worse." Penelope frowned, at the tiles under her dirty converse.

Jin sat his pen down, looking at her through tear glazed eyes.

"It's not your fault my brain has fabricated false memories." Just saying the words hurt so much. But the longer he looked at her the less he recognized her. Penelope wasn't the girl he remembered. Sure she had some of her traits. Even her looks and yet her eyes were different. Y/N didn't like converse... she loved vans. Something about how they fit better.

Jin tilted his head, wincing in pain.

"Jin?"

He pushed the palm of his hand into his eye for pressure. It helped most of the time.

"I'll be fine." His voice was low. Penelope could hear the heartache resounding in it.

"Could you tell me about her?"

Jin gazed up at her.

"What?"

Penelope moved to sit on the edge of the bed. She smiled softly before speaking again.

"Tell me about your wife."

"I- uh." Jin knitted his brows together.

"Maybe it will help." Penelope offered. Jin looked at her for a long time. She had yelled at him before. Rightly so, he guessed. Why would she want to help him? Or want to know about Y/N?

Jin's eyes fell to his notebook. It seemed to be his lifeline these days. About time for him to get a new one. He would have to talk to Dr. Min later. Jin sighed.

"What do you want to know?"

Penelope tapped her fingers on her chin.

"How did you meet her?"

Jin smirked as the memory of the day he met Y/N flooded his mind. Y/N had been trying to reach a book high up on a shelf. He had walked up searching for a novel recommended by Jungkook.

"Which one are you trying to get down?" He asked, ready to help. She rocked back on her heels, glancing at him from behind a curtain of wavy hair.

Her eyes widened when she took him in.

"Uh... A tale of two cities." She spoke shyly, a soft pink spreading across her cheeks.

He had loved her then. Completely captivated and he didn't even know her name. Funny thing about it was he didn't learn her name until he saw her again.

Why didn't he ask her then? He couldn't quite remember.

Jin smiled, twirling the pen between his fingers.

"At a bookstore. She was having trouble reaching a book."

Penelope looked at one of the paintings on the wall.

"You helped her?"

Jin nodded, taking in Penelope's features. She looked less and less like Y/N and more like someone else. Someone else he remembered he was just struggling with the name.

"You are quite the popular man, Jin." Observed Yoongi, walking into the room. Followed by none other than the rock star himself, Jungkook.

"Kookie!" Exclaimed Jin. Jungkook grinned, pulling him into a big hug.

"It's been too long!"

"Yea... after that night I went on to an entertainment group."

Jin smirked.

"So you broke a window at the bar with your killer vocals."

Jungkook laughed.

"Something like that."

"So why are you here?"

"I had a break. Namjoon said you had finally woken up. I also wanted to talk to you about an opportunity."

"Oh?" As if Jin was in any state of mind to take on a job or whatever crazy scheme Jungkook had.

"I know a chef in France personally. I told them about you and how passionate you are about the culinar—"

"No." Jin cut him off.

"No?"

"I have to figure out what's going on in my head before I can even try to get the life before my coma life back."

Dr. Min pulled out his phone texting quickly while listening to the conversation between the two men in front of him.

JH: please...

Reply: I can't give you something that doesn't exist

JH: please...

Dr. Min frowned, tucking his phone away once more. He then cleared his throat. Jungkook turned to look at him.

"I'm sorry Kookie." Jin mumbled, his eyes wandering to where Penelope sat silently.

"Don't sweat it Jinnie boy. When you are ready." He smiled over at him.

"Where's Namjoon?" Jungkook asked suddenly, his eyes trainer on Penelope.

"He got called into the studio. They were having issues with the new artist."

"Ah... say no more." Jungkook scoffed.

"So you two know each other already?" Jin gestured to both of them.

"We met each other about two months ago. Namjoon introduced us when he joined the group after he left his last one." Murmured Penelope.

Yoongi's eyes moved from one person to another. Of course they knew each other. Jungkook works at the same entertainment label as Namjoon and Penelope is his girlfriend. Only makes sense.

"Visiting hours are over. Jin is needed in the DreamScope." A tinge of frustration in the Doctors tone.

Penelope regarded him carefully. While Jungkook looked like he wanted to square up.

"You can come back anytime."

"Did you just hear me about being on break?"

"Yes and I have a job to do... So." Dr. Min responded in a dry flat tone.

Jungkook glared at him, casting a worrisome glance at his friend. Who gave him a reassuring grin. Penelope waved goodbye, disappearing out the door. Soon to be followed by the stubborn dark haired boy.

Dr. Min turned to look at Jin.

"The less people you see for now, the better."

"Why."

"Fractures."

"What?" Jin queried.
