Chapter Four: The Mission
I'm so super sorry it took me a very long time to update, I promise to try to update a bit quicker. I was having a big procrastination isssue with this story, I'll make sure to not repeat the same issue again. I don't own Naruto, or the following characters Kishimoto is the rightful owner. So for now enjoy the story!:)
Previously:
"What's your name young man?" She asked him curiously with gentle eyes, watching over him.
"My name is Daichi Kyougoku" The orange haired man replied with a smile on his face. Hyuga Hinata's fiancee.
Sakura stare at her bag, laying on top of her bed. Her greenish bag, containing all the necessary items that she'll need for this specific mission. All the different kinds of kimonos, a uncomfortable orange wig and other disguise items. All the things that her master, Tsunade encouraged will come in handy. She'll have to carry two bags and her camp out materials, such as a tent, sleeping bag and other resources that both her and Naruto will need on their way to this clan. Sakura stood against her creamy wall, unsure of the place they were heading to. After all the endless nights of researching, the Hokage and her barley came across anything useful that could've given them an sorts of clues or info on the clan. All they came across was information that they already knew, nothing useful was found except one specific piece of information that put her completely unease. Something was wrong with this clan and she was sure they will have a hard time discovering their true motive. She shook the unnecessary thoughts off her mind, as her loud alarm clock went off. The ringing, echoing throughout her empty house.
"Well, here we go" She mumbled softly. Backing away from her wall as she made her way towards her small coffee table. Taking her sharpen weapons that she previously sharpened for extra measures. She took them in her two hands and placed them inside her small pouch. We'll probably reach the clan in three or four days she silently thought. Her gloved hands reaching for a piece of paper. Making her way out of her room and closing the door to her room. Walking pass her small hallway and towards her living room, where she gently placed the note ontop of the table.
"I hope I'll return before they do" She said whispering softly, looking at the note for a couple of seconds before walking away from the room. Heading to the front door which she opened and stepped outside with her bags, locking her door in the process. As she made her way to the ramen shop. Both Naruto and her agreed to eat some ramen before heading off to their mission. So, she took her time walking to the famous ramen shop, taking a calm pace. Walking pass many shops and occasionally apartment complexes. She greeted her elders, saying hello to some of the villagers children.
"Ohayo!" Sakura said cheerfully, arriving at her destination with a smile. She entered the ramen shop, her green eyes roaming the seats for a certain blonde who sat happily on one of the red stools. Happily slurping on his noodles before turning his attention to the newly arrived customer. He grinned happily, waving her over. Patting the seat next to him. Smiling, she made her way towards him after greeting the owner of the ramen shop and his daughter. She settled her things on the floor, taking the seat next to Naruto who continued to eat his ramen. Quietly observing him, noticing some differences. He looked unhealthy and tired. He's skinner than before, and his cheekbones are standing out way too much, his skin is paler than his usual tan color. He looks tired, and those dark circles under his eyes are enough to prove me right. However, he still manages to look as cheerful as ever. He seems so happy. He must've sensed her stare on him because he turned around, facing her with his big blue eyes. Looking bright as ever.
"Baka!" She yelled, hitting him in the head. Her green eyes flared with anger and concern as she eyed her comrade whine childishly. Rubbing his head, with a small frown on his features.
"What was that for, Sakura-chan?" He asked like a little kid, continuing to smother his head bump. She rolled her green eyes at him, shaking her head repeatedly. Frowning at him, with her arms crossed over her chest.
"For not taking care of yourself, Baka! Your old enough to look after yourself so do it right or else!" She warned him. Even if her green eyes appeared to only show nothing but anger, Naruto knew very that in that moment she was only concern for him. She was only looking after her comrade and that made him happy to know she cares.
"Arigatou, Sakura-chan" He whispered softly, Sakura letting out a small huff. Her eyes closed and remained closed until he slammed his fist on the table. Earning the attention of the ramen shop owner, his daughter, and Sakura. They all eyed the blonde haired ninja waiting for him to speak. Silence.
"Mr, can you please give Sakura-chan a bowl of your delicious ramen," Naruto asked with enthusiasm, as a huge smile appeared on his face.
"Of course" The old man said, disappearing behind the many plates and dishes. Naruto turned around to face Sakura with his huge grin, holding his thumb up to her. Grinning from ear to ear.
"This one's on me Sakura-chan!" He said happily. Sakura smiling wider than usual, nod her head.
"Hm!"

Tsunade held her hands together in a tight fist. Her fingers intertwining together, as they laid on top of her wooden desk. Eyeing the stack of paper work she had yet to complete. Growling in annoyance. Her assistant, Shizune stood beside her babbling on about the responsibility of finishing her work. Nagging her about how lazy she was and how she always procrastinated her work. The blonde Hokage rolled her eyes, almost slamming her head against the table if it wasn't for the small and quiet knock she heard. She smiled mischievously Thank you Kami! She prayed thankfully. Sitting up in her green chair, she cleared her throat, silently ordering her assistant to be quiet.
"Come in" She spoke, her voice holding in all the emotions that threaten to show. The door opening slowly, making a creaking sound. A shy bluette kunochi appeared, smiling slightly before opening the door completely. Her shy figure step inside the room, closing the door quietly. Smiling at the Hokage and her assistant, bowing as a sign of respect.
"Hinata" Tsunade said loud and clear, her voice echoing throughout the room. She eyed her assistant with a serious look, signaling her to leave.
"Leave us alone, Shizune. I have important matters to discuss with Hinata" She spoke seriously. Shizune smiled understandably before bowing, leaving the room in a hurry. Closing the door shut behind her. Silence filled the room.
"Lady-sama, may I know why you've send to speak to me?" She asked politely, nervously playing with her two index fingers. It appeared to Tsuande that this was one of her nervous habits, along with her lip biting. She smiled gently at the timid kunochi, motioning her to come forward and so she did. She slowly made her way to the Hokage, standing infront of her unorganized table.
"Hinata I'll get straight to the point. As you might already know or might not know. Sakura and Naruto have been assigned a mission. As in matter of fact they should be on their way to the front gates and will soon despatch. Sadly, this was a mission, that I couldn't allow Sasuke to attend, for certain issues. So as you may already know, Naruto and Sakura have been what you call Sasuke's bodyguards" Tsunade spoke, eyeing the timid girl. She nod her head in understatement, her pale eyes starring at the Hokage with a slight bit of confusion. Softly speaking, Hinata asked.
"I-I-I understand, Lady-sama. But I don't understand how this-"
"With his two bodyguards away I'll need someone suitable to take care of the Uchiha brat, and Hinata that's were you come in." Tsunade said in a serious tone, her brown eyes studying the kunochi in front of her. Observing her facial expressions and movements. Hinata's face twisted into confusion, before she could speak. Tsunade continued to speak.
"As of tomorrow you are to report to my office first thing in the morning and you will start your new assigned mission. You are to be Sasuke's guard until further notice. Meaning until Naruto and Sakura arrive from their mission." Tsunade clarified, the room filled with silence. Before a loud Thud! was heard.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sasuke, laying on the green grass in the middle of the training grounds, placed his arms behind his head. His face facing the sky. He took in the freah air of wood and grass. His legs crossed over each other, with his left leg over his right one. His bottle of water laid near his face. He growled in boredom and after a while, he sat up abruptly. This day couldn't get any more boring, he thought tiredly. Naruto, had showed up in the break of dawn in his apartment today. Maybe even earlier than that just to let him know that he was assigned a mission with Sakura and that he wasn't allowed to go.
Flashback:
Sasuke growled tiredly, hearing the loud echoes of banging on his door. He wasn't a morning person and he sure as hell wasn't about to get up at 4:00 a.m of the morning to open the door to who knows who. So he turned around, faced the wall with a pillow over his head. Trying to miserably shut out the loud noise of whacking on his wooden door. However, after about a minute or so the pounding sound suddenly came to a halt, which made Sasuke smile. Until he heard a very loud and annoying yell. Making his eyes pop open in anger and annoyance. "That idiot!" He thought furiously.
"Hey! Teme, open the door you bastard!" Of course the dobe would be the one pounding on his door at 4:00 a.m in the morning. He heard the yelling of his friend get louder, and possibly more annoying. The pounding on his door becoming much more violent. At this point he was actually surprised he didn't break down his door or if he was smart enough go in through his open window. Then again he was as dumb and dense as a little kid. Angrily, Sasuke stood up from his bed. Making his way to the door, shirtless. Passing by his hallway, and his living room and finally stopping by his front door.'I'm surprised he hasn't woken up the entire village by now' Sasuke bitterly thought. Opening the door in a rush, taken back by the sudden punched on his nose. Taking a few steps back, he stumbled on his two feets from he sudden impact.
"Idiot!" Sasuke yelled angrily, holding his throbbing nose with his hand. He eyed his blond friend and heard him mutter a quiet apology. Completely ignoring him, he asked coldly.
"What do you want?" Sasuke hissed angrily. Eyeing the blonde in front of him.
"Ano, I came to tell you that me and Sakura-chan are going on a mission." He said, nervously. Sasuke closed his eyes in annoyance and in anger, bitting down on his lip.
"What am I your wife!?" Sasuke yelled."Why the hell am I suppose to care!" He yelled, completely enraged. Naruto eyes widen, waving his hands in front of him. Shaking his head back and forth, stuttering upon his words.
"I just came to tell you, I mean I don't like you! I mean I do! Wait! Not like that though. I-" He stopped, uable to form any decent words. Scratching his head, he gazed at the ground. Thoughts of the 'inccidents' relating to him and Sasuke made his skin crawl. Him and Sasuke sharing two kisses. He shivered at the thought as the images invading his mind.
"I-I-I mean if you like me then that's a whole other-" Cutting him off, Sasuke punched him in the gut. Earning a groan of pain from Naruto.
"I don't like you! " Sasuke yelled.
"Sasuke, you don't have to-"
"I like girls! Baka!" Sasuke angrily shouted. Naruto eyes showing relief, placing a hand over his heart. Letting out a deep sigh, Naruto chuckled lightly.
"You scared me there for a second, teme" Naruto said with a goofy smile. Sasuke rolled his eyes, asking him to come inside.
"Arigatou, Sasuke" Naruto said, walking inside Sasuke's apartment. Making his way to his living room, where he took a seat on his leather couch. Sasuke closed the door behind him, making his way to his living room. Where Naruto sat, patiently waiting for him.
"Would you like something to drink or-"
"Thank you, but no thanks" Naruto said. Sasuke shrugging, took a seat across from him. Sitting on his one man chair.
"Well, speak" Sasuke said annoyed. Naruto nod his head, taking in a deep breath.
"Listen Sasuke, Tsuande-sama asked me and Sakura-chan to take on a mission and we agreed. However, you wouldn't be able to go, due to some issues she said she explained to you. So while were gone you'll have to stay low, because the council is starting to notice." Naruto said, waiting for Sasuke to say something but all he received in return was silence. So he took that as a sign to go on."Before me and Sakura-chan left, I heard her mention something about hiring a guard to look after you. So Sasuke, you have to behave and well try not to kill them" Naruto asked in a pleading tone, his eyes filled with worry. Sasuke, rolling his eyes sighed.
"Guard?" Sasuke questioned.
"Hai!" Naruto confirmed. Sasuke, nodding his head stood up.
"Well if that's all, you can leave now." Sasuke said coldly. Naruto smiling softly, agreed. He stood up and slowly inch his way closer to the door, with Sasuke following closely behind. However, Naruto came to a halt.
"Ano, can I ask you for a favor?" Naruto nervously asked. Sasuke raised his eyebrow, staying quiet. Naruto, hearing no response turned around. Gazing at the emotionless face of his friend."Please teme!" He begged.
"No!" Sasuke hastily declared.
"What! Why? You haven't even heard me out yet!" Naruto exclaimed loudly. Sasuke rolled his eyes, shaking his head.
"I don't need to hear it to know it's something obviously stupid" He said tiredly.
"What is that suppose to mean?" Naruto asked offended.
"Exactly what it sounds like" He answered. Naruto ready to yell at him stop, looking at Sasuke seriously.
"Sasuke, this is something important to me. So please" Naruto pleaded softly, his eyes big with dim eyes. Sasuke sighed deeply, rubbing his face careful not to touch his injured nose.
"What is it?" He asked irritated. Naruto beamed happily, smiling widely.
"Can you look after Hinata" He asked, catching Sasuke off guard. He raised his eyebrows, blinking repeatedly.
"Come again?" He asked unsure if he heard right. Naruto shifted uncomfortably, wih a tint of red on his cheeks.
"Can you look after Hinata" Naruto repeated with embarassment.
End of Flashback
Sasuke smirked, Who knew the dobe wasn't as dense as everyone made him out to be. Sasuke thought. Standing up from the ground, he took his bottle. Dusting off the grass from his training clothes, making his way to his apartment to freshen up. I need a training partner, so hurry up dobe.

Naruto and Sakura made their way to Konoha's gates, approaching the two people in charge and saying their farwells. They stood in between the gates and the outside of the gate, looking back at the village and breathing in the air.
"You think we'll take long, Naruto?" Sakura asked, in which Naruto shook his head in denial.
"No, we'll back in less than a month Sakura-chan" Naruto promised. A smile slowly appearing on Sakura's face, as she agreed with Naruto.
"Well Naruto let's head off" She said, double checking she had all the things she needed. With a successful search, they glance one last time at Konoha village. With a small smile, they head off North from the village. Here we come, Kyougoku clan
