Rory's Golfing Adventure

Sitting at the diner table wan't as bad as Tina first though her Friday nights would be as the conversations where sometimes funny and entertaining. Sitting next to her mother on the side closest to her Grandfather she looks up from her plate when she hears her Grandfather speak "Dinner was lovely, Emily." commented her grandfather in a posh time something that Tina loved about her grandparents their class.

"Mira does make a perfect casserole."

"Who's Mira?" asked Tina looking between her grandparents.

"Our cook." answers her grandmother while smiling at the twins.

"I thought the cook was Heidi." adds Lorehai totally confused as to who her mother had hired that week.

"Oh, no, we let Heidi go months ago. She had a problem closing things -- the door, the refrigerator --"

"The liquor bottle." sending Tina into a small giggling fit.

"Then it was Trina, then Sophia." explained Emily.

"Oh, I liked Sophia."

"You did not."

"I didn't?"

"She was the one who sang."

"That's right -- terrible woman." The Gilmore twins smiled to each other finally understanding where their mother got her bantering from.

"And after Sophia we had Anton."

"That's right. Anton was the one that I liked."

"I'm sorry, Dad, how do you mix up Anton and Sophia?" interpreted their mother who couldn't believe that her dad could get a man and a women mixed up.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, one is a man and one is a woman." adds Lorehai still puzzled

"And your point being?"

"That one is a man and one is a woman." Tina said with a smile.

"I have a lot to do in a day, Lorelai, I don't have time to keep up with a multitude of people that your mother employs."

"But one is a man and one is a woman." said their mother backing up Tina's perious statement as the new cook brings out a delicious cake that is making Tina mouth water.

"The dinner was so wonderful, Mira." Lorelai said.

"It's Sarah." the cook told Lorehai in a snappy tone obviously not happy about being called the wrong name.

"Oh, I'm sorry." as Sarah walks out.

"Mom! Her name is Sarah!"

" I thought she said Mira." adds the twins grandmother clearly not bothered by not knowing her cooks name.

"Ugh!"

"Hey, Grandma, these plates are really pretty." interputs Rory trying to save the subject.

"Oh yeah grandma those plates are gorgeous" adds Tina

"Thank you, Rory and Tina. They were your great-grandmother's."

"Lorelai the first."

"I thought Mom was the first." says Rory while Tina looks to her mum for an explanation.

"Not in the name."

"No, but in so many other things I was a regular trailblazer. Just finishing your thought, Mom." earning a side bump from Tina.

"Lorelai the first was my mother. She was an extremely accomplished equestrian, a distinguished patron of the arts, and she was also world-famous for her masquerade balls. She was quite a woman, my mother." her grandfather tells the girls and Tina wonders if she is just like an older version of their Grandmother.

"Yes she was. Mira, come cut the cake please." calls out her grandmother

"Yes, and why don't you bring Sarah out here with you?" adds Lorehai while Rory and Tina just smile and sake their heads."

XOXOXOXO

"So, Lorelai, how are things at that charming little inn of yours?" asks Emily keeping the conversation.

"Mm -- they're still charming and little. We're just crossing our fingers it doesn't assert itself and become rude and large."

"Mom's having a huge wedding there this week." the girls add in unison then turn to fake death glare each other both hating when they speak at the same time.

"Really?"

"Yeah, actually there's people coming from all over the country."

"Well, isn't that nice?"

"Yeah"

" So Rory and Tina, how's Chilton?" turning her attention back to her granddaughters.

"OK, done with me now." receiving a comforting smile from the girls

"I'm sorry, was there more to the story?"

"Uh, Rory has to pick a team sport to play and Tina had already picked her sport."

"It's a requirement." commented Rory

"Physical fitness is as important as intellectual fitness. So says Plato and so say I."

"What sport are you going to pick and what sport did you pick Tina?" looking between the two.

"I'm not sure. I'm not really the athletic type."

"I told her she should go out for the debating team." causing Tina to roll her eyes their mum had already suggested this too many times to count.

"It's not a sport."

"It is the way the Gilmore's play." gaining a face palm from Tina

"So, what are your choices?"

"God, there's like a thousand of them: basketball, lacrosse, swimming, track, golf --"

"Golf?"

"Yeah." adds Tina, "I chose Croquet" the only reason Tina choose it was because Madeline and Louise choose it so at lest she had friends with her.

"Well your grandfather is a golf player." forgetting Tina statement getting too caught up in the fact that the girls could play Golf with their grandfather.

"Oops."

"He plays every week at the club. He could teach you to play like a pro."

"Emily." their grandfather says in a tight tone showing that he doesn't want to take them.

"Why, he could take them there on Sunday. It's perfect." adds their grandmother, while Tina shoots a look to her mother pleading her to not make her go she had already picked her sport and golfing did not sound like fun.

"It's not something you can teach in an afternoon."

"That's OK. Rory can pick something else and mum Tina has already picked a sport."

"Why should they pick something else? They both need to learn a sport and Richard can teach them a sport. They can use their mother's old golf clubs. They're upstairs gathering dust along with the rest of her potential."

"OK, Mom, can I maybe talk to you for a minute?" Causing Tina to shoot her mum a thankful look if any one can get her out of this her mum can.

"We're having dessert."

"I know but I'd like to talk to you fast before the sugar sets in and makes me crazy."

"You are the oddest person." as they both stand up to leave the dinning room.

"Too easy." leaving the twins and their grandfather alone.

XOXOXOXO

"Oh, man, did you get blindsided? I'm so sorry." looking sympathetic at Rory as she spoke.

"That's OK."

"I tried to stop it, I swear but it took so much to get Tina out of it she wouldn't give up on you"

"I love you so much mum for getting me out of that as much as I love them I don't want to spread a day golfing with grandpa.

"I know. Maybe it won't be that bad." adds Rory, cause to Rory it doesn't sound that bad and hopefully they can have some fun.

"Maybe it won't."

"Maybe I'll like it."

"And maybe I will join a cult" adds a smiling Tina

"Maybe you will." looking at the two shaking her head that they both had her sense of humor more Tina then Rory.

"Maybe you could come with me I know I can't get Tina to come with me"

"Oh, is there a "you're crazy" team? 'Cause I think they'd make you captain."

"Please?"

"Rory, I love you. I would take a bullet for either of you. But I'd rather stick something sharp in my ear than go to the club with you."

"Fine."

"I'd rather slide down a banister of razor blades and land in a pool of alcohol than go to the club with you." earning a high five from Tina and a condescending look from Rory.

"I got it."

"Don't stop me, I'm on a roll. I'd rather eat my own hand than go to the club with you. Ooh, I'd rather get my face surgically altered to look like that lunatic rich lady with the lion head than go to the club with you."

"Would you like me to drive so you can continue your diatribe?"

"Would ya? Thanks. I'd rather cut off my head and use it as a punch bowl than go to the club with you."

XOXOXOXO

After Rory left early for her golfing adventure Tina spend the most part of the day catching up on her Chilton work as well as helping her mum with the twin wedding from hell. Making Tina sure to never share a wedding with Rory or to marry twins as well.

"My God -- this day. The swans, the tulle, my head...Luke, I need the largest cheeseburger in the world. Let's break a record here, mister." rants her mother as they walk hand in hand into the diner then finding Rory at a table. "So, the wedding is a nightmare. We got these ten boxes of creepy larvae that are supposed to swarm into beautiful butterflies on the wedding day. They swarmed a little early!"

"What's with the hat?" asked Tina confused as why her sister had a Jamaican looking hat on her head.

"Grandma gave it to me."

"Oh, now, that's just mean."

"It's not that bad."

"Oh it is so Rory you poor soul" commented Tina

"Do you want a mirror?" as Rory selfconsciously took off the hat

"So, Rory's golfing adventure. Tell me!"

"It was fine."

"Oh, honey, I brought you some of Sookie's chocolate cake to make you feel better, Tina already eat hers" earning a nod from Tina

"It really wasn't that bad."

"You are the sweetest kid in the whole world. Where on earth did you get that from? Luke, am I mistaken or did that sign on the door say "open"?" as she looks back to Rory "So, where were we?"

"Me golfing."

"Right -- go."

"Yeah Rory how was it as hellish as you thought" Tina asked

"OK, well, uh, by the end of the day I could even hit the ball. Sometimes it wasn't my ball but the intentions were good."

"Well good intentions and no physical exertion whatsoever is what the game of golf was built on. So, um, did you order?"

"I'm not hungry. I had a big lunch at the club."

"With all the other devastators of our land." Luke comments as he walks past confusing Tina as she had no idea what Luke was on about."

"You had a big lunch at the club?"

"Yes, it was quite good." surprising both Lorehai and Tina.

"Quite? What's with the quite?"

Tuning out to her mum and Rory Tina looks around the diner till she is brought out of her thoughts with her mothers comments "Wow! Sounds like you really had a good time."

"I did."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Really."

"OK, new word now" smirked Tina

"Sorry -- I just -- I'm surprised. I thought you were gonna be bored."

"I was kind of surprised too. I don't know -- it was pretty there and Grandpa and I talked a lot."

"You talked? Really?"

"You're doing it again."

"Sorry. You talked?"

"We talked about Fez and a bit about Tina and what she likes" answered Rory surprising Tina that her grandfather asked about her.

"And he thought it was a hat."

"I told him about our backpacking trip. He thought it was a great idea and I told him about Tina's fashion stuff." getting a thankful look from Tina.

"Wow. So you really had fun."

"Yeah."

"That's great." adds Lorelai as Luke brings over her cheeseburger, "That is really, really great."

"I thought you were starving." states Luke confused as to why Lorehai wasn't eating her burger.

"Things change. Move on." comments Lorehai earning worried looks from both Tina and Rory.

"Does this hat really look bad on me?" Rory asks again as she puts the had back on her head.

Getting a "No. I think it looks kind of cute." from her mum and a big "No" from Tina that hat was a fashion no no.

XOXOXOXO

Sitting on the Gilmore's front porch rereading one of her fashion magazines, Tina looks up to see Rory looking at herself with a handheld mirror staring very deeply. "Should I leave you two alone?"

"I think I want to change my hair." states Rory

Looking across the table at Rory, Tina tells her "Really? I think it looks quite good you might not like it short you can do less with your hair when it's short" as Tina looks back down at the magazine in her lap.

"You're funny. Do you want something to drink?" looking between the two as Rory asked.

"Oh, yeah, water."

"Coke for me, thanks" as Tina looks up from her magazine to meet Rory with a thankful smile before going back to reading as Rory goes inside to get the girls drinks.

"So I heard you both talked to Grandpa today?" getting a nod of the head from Tina.

"What?" asks Rory from inside finding it hard to hear."

"Grandpa -- he called?" Lorelai asked this time tapping her youngest to get her attention.

"Oh yeah he asked how I am finding Latin at school and he also just wanted to check in how my sport is going we only talked for a couple minutes." an annoyed Tina answered all she wanted to do is finish rereading this page before she finished the rest of her homework.

"Yep." Rory calls as she gives a water to her mum and a coke for Tina.

"Anything wrong?"

"No. He just found this book we were talking about."

"Oh. And he just called to tell you?"

"Yeah, why?"

"That's it I'm going to my room to get my homework I can't work or read with you both talking" as a frustrated Tina grabs her magazine and coke leaving the table and headed to her room but stopped when she heard the phone ring. "I'll get it" Tina yells as she garbs the phone.

"Hello Tina speaking"

"Hey Tina it's Madeline"

"Oh hey Madeline what can I do for you"

"Guess what I heard" Tina hears Madeline say while she opens the door to her room and then jumping back onto her bed.

"What don't leave me handing"

"Ok I heard from Louise, that heard from Micheal who is friends with Matt that he finds you cute"

"Really, did he say anything else" asks Tina as she turns onto her back facing her glowing in the dark star covered ceiling.

"Not much only that he wants to talk to you more"

"This is so exciting he is so cute, I would Kiss him any day" says a giggling Tina who can't help the smile forming on her face.

"Haha same will I have to go my mum is calling me see you at School"

"Bye thanks for calling" as Tina hangs up the phone before falling into a laughing fit. Hearing her daughter laughing Lorelai sticks her head in Tina's room to find her in a laughing fit. Jumping onto the bed next to Tina Lorehai looks at her youngest wondering what happened to get this reaction. A smiling Tina looks up at her mum then explaining everything about Matt leaving both girls jumping up and down in fits of laughter.

XOXOXOXO

Arriving at their Grandparents house the girls are greeted at the door by Emily "Oh, good, you're here."

"Hey."

"Long time no see" a smiling Tina asks as she hugs her grandmother.

"Hi, Grandma."

"My goodness, what is that?" looking to the large white rectangle box that Lorelai is holding in her hands

"We brought dessert." answers Lorehai

"Really? How thoughtful. What is it?

"Blueberry shortcake, it's to die for your going to love it" states Tina.

"I've never heard of blueberry shortcake."

"Yeah, it's a Stars Hollow specialty." replies Lorelai wanting the conversation to end

"Why is it already cut?" Questions their grandmother causing Tina to face palm see knows this conversation is not going to end nicely.

"It's left over. From the wedding. At the inn."

"Yes, I know where the wedding was."

"Oh, sorry. You were just doing that staring thing."

"You brought us used dessert?"

"It's not used. It's left over."

"How nice. I'll just put it in the kitchen next to my half-empty box of Cheer."

Thankful for the conversation to be over Lorehai whispers to the girls "She's in a good mood tonight."

"Can I get you a drink?"

"Uh, white wine would be nice."

"Coke." came from Rory and "Soda" from Tina

"So, Lorelai, did Rory tell you all about the wonderful time she had at the club?"

"She sure did." Lorehai answered tightly knowing that her mum was going to brag that Rory enjoyed herself.

"Your father was simply flying all week. She really charmed him, same with you Tina he loved getting to know about your interests" earning a grin from Tina.

"Ah, well, if anybody could, it would be my girls." wrapping an arm around each girls shoulder protectively.

"I mean, in this age of MTV and 100 television channels who would've imagined that those young girls could still get a thrill spending a simple afternoon with her grandfather or a simple phone conversation?"

"That wine would be real good right now, Mom."

"I think we should consider getting her a membership at the club, don't you? and I know you couldn't go this time Tina but I'm sure you would love the club as much as Rory"

"If they want it, then sure." adds Lorehai then whispering to the girls "The only way Tina is going is if there are cute boys" getting a laugh from Rory and an Elbow from Tina.

"I mean, to have a place to go where she can socialize, that's very important to a young girl." Rolling her eyes at that statement Tina looks down at her nails, If anything Rory needs the club not her.

"Well, now especially that the crack den is closed down on the corner all there really good friends are gone. What do you think, Mom, should I pursue the career in comedy?" Getting an annoyed look from her mother but smiles from the girls.

"It's just very interesting the way things turn out, isn't it?" finishes their grandmother as their grandpa walks in.

"Oh, you're here. Lorelai."

"Dad."

"Rory, I have a surprise. Not only did I find that copy of Mencken's "Chrestomathy" we discussed, I also found a first edition of his memoirs as well and don't think I forgot about you Tina I made some calls and I was able to find first editions of some of your favorite magazines." earning big smiles from both girls.

"You're kidding?" Rory managers to say.

"Really, grandpa they are so rare to find" comes from Tina still in shock that he actually found some.

"It's in my office if you'd like to see them."

"Oh my God, I totally would." announced Rory as both her and Tina stand up and follow their grandfather to his office"

"I'd like to take a look at those myself." adds their grandmother leaving their mum sitting alone.
