Awake
Not saying it
Lilli
With a soft groan I sit up. I immediately notice that something is not right. I look around. I seem to be in a hospital. "Hello Captain". A nurse I think says walking in. "Where am I"? I question. "A recovery room in New York, Captain". There's a game playing in the background. Then it hits me. "Where am I really"? I say forcefully. "I-I don't understand". She says faking confusion. "That game is from May 1941(correct?) I know because I was there. So I'll ask you again where am I"? I say. She presses a button and two guards come in.
I run through the fake wall. It was too quiet. That's what was wrong. I run as a alarm screams"All agents code 13. All agents code 13"!! They all turn to me and I run. I rush out of the building to look at an alienated Times Square.
"What". I whisper to myself. The soldiers catch up and point their weapons at me. "At ease soldier". A man with a eye patch says. "Sorry for that Cap I thought it would be best to break it to you slowly. "Break what to me"? I question. "Cap you have been asleep for almost 70 years". He says.
70. 70 years. They've been gone almost 70 years. I think to myself. "I know and I'm sorry". Eye patch says. Oops I must have said that out loud.
"Will you be okay"? He asks worriedly. "Yeah-Yeah just I had a date".
Nick
I've never felt this bad for someone before. The way she said they've been gone 70 years means she still thinks they are alive. And what she said last broke my heart. That she had a date. Normally that would not bother me but the way she said it with so much sadness just hurt.
