Chapter 10 - Suspicious
Ink silently swore in his head as Blue stood up, "Where've you been all day?" He asked, jumping immediately into questions and crossing his arms. Ink shrugged, "Out. What's up? Did I miss something?" Blue's glare solidified further. He stood and walked up to Ink. "You've missed a lot, actually. Including every meeting you've been to these past... hm... two or three weeks maybe? What's on your mind, Ink?" Ink knew Blue was a lot smarter than most gave him credit for, so he knew he made connections easily, and that was confirmed by the next sentence Blue said, following Ink's accidental silence, "Kinda strange, how that's around how long it's been since there's been any reports or even sightings of Error around any universe." Suddenly Ink was slammed against the door, slamming it shut in the process as Blue held him by the collar of his shirt. Ink was surprised.
"What did you do, Ink? Where's Error? You better not of hurt him!! I swear if you-" Ink quickly cut him off by laughing. "Pfft, Blue, do you even hear yourself?? You think I, what, kidnapped Error?? And did what with him??" Blue's eyes widened before snapping back into a strong glare and he held Ink tighter, "I didn't say you kidnapped him..." he hissed. Ink shook his head, still smiling, "Okay? So what? I can't assume what you think I did? I just forgot to come, and I've been distracted on some big projects." He giggled quietly. Blue softened at Ink's fake honesty and he let him go after a moment and sighed, turning away, "Sorry... me and Dream are just so worried about him. Dream said even if he had lied about what he told him... he still seemed really upset, you know?" Blue turned away from him and sighed quietly again. Ink nodded and placed a hand on Blue's shoulder.
"Blue, I'm sure he's okay. He's probably just taking a break or had a manic episode. I'll see if I can get into the antivoid and check on him, kay?" Ink kneeled down next to Blue. Blue nodded and started crying, covering his mouth, "Thank you... thank you so much..." he turned around and hugged Ink. Ink hugged him back, knowing he had lied. Knowing he had to now keep up this lie. This wouldn't be easy. He held Blue's crying head to his chest as he slowly zoned out, staring into the distance. Blue's tears were soaking into his shirt, but eventually they slowed down, and once Blue pulled away, sniffling and wiping his tears, Ink snapped back into reality. Blue took a shaky breath in and out, "I... thank you Ink. For being here for me. I'm sorry for acting so unprofessionally." He wiped a stray tear away. Ink smiled and placed a hand on Blue's unknowing shoulder, "Of course, Blue, that's what friends are for. Now I'll try to see if I can find Error, can you tell Dream that for me?" Ink rubbed his shoulder. Blue nodded.
"Tell me what?" Dream had opened the door and entered. "Oh, hey-" Ink was cut off, Blue's excitement getting the better of him. "Ink's going to find Error!" Blue immediately hugged Dream, tightly. Dream gasped and his eyes widened after a moment of processing, he looked to Ink again and his eyes sparkled hopefully. "Really...? You are...?" Tears began to gather in his eye sockets, slowly overflowing as he hugged Blue back. "Uhh..." Ink rubbed his arm. Dream immediately ran to Ink, jumping on him and hugging him, crying into his shoulder and quietly thanking him. Ink patted his back. His lie was getting worse. What if he said he found him and they wanted to see him and wouldn't let it go regardless of what he tried to tell them? Or what if he lied and said that he didn't find Error and they get even more suspicious of him? What was he to do?? He felt nervous sweat trickle down his back. He was completely fucked.
Dream slowly pulled away and smiled, still crying, "I'm so happy... for a moment there, I was starting to not believe in you... I was starting to think you did something... I'm really sorry Ink, I should've believed you, huh?" Dream rubbed his arm. Ink forced a smiled and kissed Dream's forehead, placing his hands on his shoulders, and with confidence, he spoke again, "I'll find him. I'll find Error. And I promise I'll bring him right to you." Ink was surprised by the small peck Dream gave him, following by a warm, tight hug. Dream quietly repeated thank you to Ink over and over, but all Ink could hear or think, was about how screwed he'd be. Why did he promise to bring him to them?? He glared softly at his vial shash. Stupid emotions were messing up his mind and clouding his decision making skills. He felt Blue hug him from behind and a small sigh escaped his teeth. He stared blankly at nothing in particular, zoning out again.
Ink had a plan. And Error had better fucking behave.
