06: You said it's true love
"Park June?" his voice cracked when he looked at the girl standing in front of him in a red dress with a sling bag on her right shoulder and a cake in her hands while she stepped closer to him.
"Who's Park June?" she flipped her hair back with a mischievous smile, "I'm soon to be Mrs Min June."
Yoongi looked at her with wide eyes. She was standing just in front of him, and yet he couldn't believe that she was actually there. Questioning if he was dreaming or not, he raised his hand to touch her. But before he could do that, a loud yelp left his mouth as someone pinched his shoulder.
He whirled around in fury and once again, yelped at a hard smack on his left butt cheek which made him turn to face June again, who was now staring at her blessed hand.
"You're not dreaming, Mr Cat."
Loud claps were heard and the whole park lit up with beautiful lighting like before. Yoongi turned around, facing a sky filled with sky lanterns and beautiful ballerinas were dancing to the piano music. His family and friends came forward while clapping, a bright smile on everyone's faces. Hoseok, Namjoon and Jin were cheering at the top of their lungs.
The sound of June clearing her throat was heard, making Yoongi turn around just to face her kneeling before him. Her right hand was raised in his direction, holding a beautiful ring with two names carved on it.
"Will you marry me, Yoongi? I'd love to cherish you all my life, kiss you with all my might," she smiled with a pause and then continued, "hug you in your hard times, caress your back in your pain."
"I want to be your relief. I don't want to be your favourite spot where you go whenever you want," she stared deep into his eyes as if she was able to see through him, "Instead, I want to be your home where you're bound to return. I want to fill a ton of albums with our memories."
"Min Yoongi, will you be my husband?"
Yoongi was frozen at his place, his tongue was failing to form words. He just stared at her with wide eyes, unable to process anything.
"Where were you?" the crowd fell silent hearing the firmness in his voice, "It was ok if you didn't love me, but w-why leave? You left me, June . . . why?"
He couldn't stop himself, the words came out on their own. He dreamed of many things with her and questioning her like this was never one of them. But at that very moment, he needed the answers. He couldn't believe it. He needed proof that this was real because if this wasn't, he'd never be able to get himself back together ever again.
"Why, June?"
She stared at him for a moment then stood up, her hand protectively fisted the ring and she stepped closer.
"I know, I was waiting for you to ask me," she came a little close, "Can I . . . hug you first?"
Yoongi blankly stared at her for a moment and she stood there, not moving an inch closer until he was ready to give her consent. After a few seconds, he slowly nodded and she embraced him tightly, rubbing soothing circles on his back, her chin resting on his shoulder, her voice close to his ear.
"I'm sorry . . . I'm so sorry that I've hurt you so badly. I never wanted to lose you," she sadly chuckled, "But silly me, I ended up abandoning you for almost eight years instead."
Yoongi felt his coat getting damp and unknowingly he pressed his hand on her waist, pulling her closer, returning the same protectiveness, and she continued.
"I was so stupid. You know, I never had a good relationship. And among all that, when you suddenly confessed to me, kissed me, I was terrified by how beautiful that kiss was."
"I was so scared, I knew if you kissed me ever again and then stopped kissing me . . . I won't be able to live with that."
"That night when I ran away from you, I couldn't sleep. I was so terrified by the thought of facing you that I called my uncle and left with him for Vegas. I completed my studies and settled down in Paris," she sobbed.
"But I still couldn't get over it. Even though I was never with you, I was always there, I talked to Aunt Min daily. I couldn't leave you behind, Yoongi," she said as she tried pulling away but Yoongi didn't let her, instead, he tightened his hold on her and that's when she heard his sniffles.
"I'm sorry too. I . . . I shouldn't have kissed you like that. I should've asked before, I should've taken your consent. I knew you, I knew it all, and yet I made such a mistake. I was so stupid. I'm so sorry, June," he pressed his eyelids close as tears made their way down his cheeks and June rubbed his back.
"It's okay, I was careless around you too. I guess . . . we both were at fault," she felt him nodding and his grip loosening so she parted from him slowly and opened her fist again.
"You can say no, I won't mind running after you all day or waiting like you did for me. Just remember, I won't give up, I won't let you go," her words made Yoongi stare at her and then her hand.
"Say something? Honestly, I can't wait to feel those lips against mine again!" she mumbled with a pout.
"Y-Yes, Yes-" his lips parted to answer but as soon as he started, he got cut off with a pair of soft lips over his.
With a sudden fling, June cupped his cheek, too fast for Yoongi to process. She grabbed his collar, tilting her head a little and slamming her lips on his. He stood there, eyes wide, while June's lips moved on his in rhythm to the music in the background.
After a while, she pulled away looking into his eyes.
"You are still angry, right? You won't even kiss me back?" she asked with a kid-like sad tone.
"Here? You? I? This?" he was still confused and his tongue was failing to produce words. So, she helped him complete his sentence.
"Um, how am I here . . . ?" she looked at him questionably and he nodded.
"First, I thought about just coming directly to your office and announcing: You got a fianceè!" she paused, looking at him with guilt painted over her features, "But when I talked to Aunt Min, she said you never celebrated your birthday since the day I left."
"So, I planned this. After all, June is proposing to Yoongi," she said, lacing her hands around his neck, "This has to be the best memory of our life."
"Mind telling me what made you change your mind after eight years? If you were always here like that then why now?" he questioned, trying to make everything clear, he wasn't ready for another heartbreak. She smiled at him, caressing his cheek with the back of her hand and looked deep into his eyes.
"You! You said it's true love! And no matter how many years, I just couldn't forget it. I waited for you to move on, to date, but you never turned your back on me. And my heart couldn't wait anymore to be yours. But sadly, you don't want me anymore," she flicked his chin in her direction, calling him out. He chuckled.
"Here you go then," pulling her by her waist, Yoongi cupped the side of June's face, pressing his lips on hers, showing how much he longed for her, how much he loved her.
The only thing in his mind was that finally, he got her and he was never going to let go, ever.
All the others gathered around them while Jungkook, Jimin, and Taehyung started showering the couple kissing in front of them with flower petals playfully. Everyone was smiling, cheering and clapping, it was a happy moment for all of them. Yoongi and June smiled against each other's lips hearing everyone's cheers and kissed more deeply.
Waiting is the true symbol of love. And when you're truly in love, waiting is worth it, even if you have no hope of getting the one you love. Love is a one-sided thing, you can control only your side. So, try to be happy, after all, we just gave you an example that waiting is a painful bliss in love.
