Ch 4. Dinner

AN:  Hi!  So there's a bit of sexual content in this chapter.  I tried to keep it vague and removed anything really graphic.  It's tough figuring out what's too much etc..  so if it's too much let me know and i'll try to vague it up a bit more i guess lol.

Scott had no idea how to cook. His idea of cooking was poptarts, toast and take out. Because of this he did the only thing he could think of: he called Zac and begged and promised him anything he wanted if he would do him this one little favor.

Unsurprisingly, Zac conceded with minimal faked anger, just as he always did when Scott asked anything of him.

~

"So, remind me again why I'm making dinner for people I don't even know?"

"Because..."  Scott put on his sweetest voice.  "I asked you to oh so nicely."

Zac made a show of rolling his eyes, a small smile on his lips, as he went about preparing the food. He could hear Scott scurrying around the apartment making sure everything was in its place before showering and getting ready. His amused grin grew a bit every time Scott came out asking if his outfit looked ok and should he wear this or that. The outfit count was up to 5.

"Isn't this just a casual dinner?  Don't you think you're overthinking this just a bit?"

"Yeah, but I don't wanna look like a slob in front of these people!"

"You mean in front of Mitch." Zac glanced over at the taller boy.

"It's not like that!" Scott rushed back into his room.

Zac was about to argue but stopped himself. Scott would eventually calm himself down.

"So why isn't Angel doing this?" he called to the boy in the other room.

"Doing what? Cooking? She's off in North Carolina visiting her parents for the week."

"Wow, that sucks. Does this mean no more pancakes for breakfast?"

"I think you'll manage to survive." Scott laughed as he checked himself over again and came back out.   "Does this one look ok?"

~

Mitch was finally almost ready to go, that is until he looked at himself in the mirror again.

No, this isn't right at all.

He hurried back to his closet and changed again. He checked himself over and fussed with his hair a bit more before he was absolutely sure every hair was in place.

Yeeesss.  Mama is ON tonight!.

He headed downstairs to meet Kirstie. He had been excited to get the invitation via his best friend, maybe a little more than he'd like to have admitted.  He really enjoyed spending time with Scott. They'd just met but there was a familiarity, an ease, and he was sure they would become good friends.  It didn't hurt that Scott was quite easy on the eyes.

Kirstie, surprisingly, met him at the door.

"For once I am ready on time." Kirstie beamed up at him.

"I feel like I should take a picture, it'll never happen again!" he laughed.

"Speaking of pictures, look at you lookin' like you're all out to impress.  Have you got a date after this?"

"No.  Do I need an excuse to look this fabulous? Right, I thought not."  He gave her a look and they both burst out laughing as they headed outside.

~

"Scott....."

Zac gripped the wooden spoon with one hand and the counter with the other. "Scott....," he warned again half-heartedly, swallowing deeply.   Scott was behind him, his lips on the back of his neck, hands sliding up his shirt.

Scott was buttering him up.  This dinner could go sideways if Kirstie made a scene and who knew if Mitch would recognize Zac.  If he just got the other boy in a good mood maybe he would be more forgiving, maybe he wouldn't inwardly shrink down inside of himself.

Scott knew him so well.  Zac hated to be treated like he was special in some way. It was cool to have fans, but Zac didn't think himself above anyone else. He was an actor. It was his job just like any other job. He worked hard at his career, worked to perfect his talent, but he still didn't think he was anything worth getting excited over.  If either of their guests made a big deal of it then he would furrow his brow even though he'd smile politely and make nice as if nothing was wrong. He's an actor after all.

Even though everything could go perfectly fine, Scott didn't think a little bit of foreplay would hurt to get him prepared.

Zac just thought he was making up for asking him to make dinner.

"If you don't... stop...." there was barely any meaning behind the words.

Scott's fingers slid down, passing the waistline of his sweats and slipping inside of his boxers.

Zac's breath was labored slightly.  He tried to focus on the task at hand, the food simmering in front of him, but he was definitely losing this battle.

He couldn't help but drop the spoon as Scott's hand reached it's destination and the blonde grinned in triumph against his neck.

"Scott ... I gotta finish dinner..." he forced out, trying to regain some composure. "..the dinner you asked me.... to make..."

Scott gave one last tug on Zac's now serious problem before removing his hand.  Zac let out a sigh half in frustration, half in relief.

Scott wasn't quite done with him yet, but he gave him a bit to finish up. He leaned against their kitchen island and watched his roommate work. Miraculously Zac had managed to not burn anything while Scott was having his bit of fun.  He finished up what he was doing and turned off the burners and the oven after taking everything out.  He turned to go change clothes but was stopped by two hands on his hips pushing him back against the counter.

"Scott c'mon... we don't have time to-"

He words were stopped by a mouth pressing against his own.  Scott didn't linger there, however...his destination was....lower.

Zac braced himself with one hand behind him on the counter, the other on the back of Scott's head and he let his head fall back a bit.  Scott knew how to make his knees weak all too well.  If this was how Scott was repaying him for making dinner then he'd gladly make dinner every night for the rest of his life.

But all good things eventually come to an end and once it was over they were both going about their usual business as if nothing had ever happened.

"I have to change."  The relaxed tone of voice let him know that if ever Zac was in an understanding mood, now was it.

Oh, the cleverness of me!   Scott licked his lips grinning.

Zac disappeared into his room just as the doorbell rang.

Scott bit his lip as he headed towards the door.

I probably should have brushed my teeth...

~

Mitch shifted back and forth from foot to foot as he waited for Scott to open the door.  Kirstie just watched him, her interest piqued.  She opened her mouth to ask him why he was so nervous but the door opened and Scott appeared before she could get anything out.

"Hey! Ooo something smells yummy." She grinned at him.

Mitch grinned as they both stepped inside.  Scott's apartment was spotless.  It was decorated modestly, yet stylish.  "Nice place Scottie..."

"Thanks. So, you'll have to thank my roommate for dinner.  Oh, and me for not attempting to cook."

Mitch laughed immediately hanging on his every word.  Kirstie was watching him, aware of his attentions.

Scott grinned at Mitch's laugh.  "He's changing right now, he should be out soon."

He let his eyes travel over the brunette boy.  He tried to be discreet about it.

How is it possible for someone to be that damned talented and that damned hot!

He forced himself to look away and lead them into the living room.

They all sat around, starting up a full blown conversation.

"I can't believe how hard your dances are. I felt like I was falling all over myself instead of dancing.  I was probably like one of those SNL skits - so bad it's funny." Kirstie laughed at herself.

"Oh, stop. You were fine!  Can you imagine what I'd look like in one of your classes?  Like a literal fish flopping around out of water." Scott laughed and Mitch laughed in response.  Kirstie, however, had stopped paying attention to them and was too busy staring at the new addition to the room.

Zac.

Zac was under the impression that either Scott had prepared these people or that they had no clue who he was and he had nothing to worry about.

"Sorry I'm kinda late " he sat down next to Scott. "I got a bit..."  he glanced at Scott  "... distracted"

"Guys this is my roommate, Zac."

Kirstie was gawking ... Mitch was staring openly.  Both were too stunned to speak.

Zac shifted uncomfortably in his seat as the silence just kind of hung in the air.

"Oh my gosh! You're Zac Efron!! " Kirstie blurted out finally.  She couldn't seem to keep a hold of her own excitement.  "I love High School Musical and 17 Again and... oh my gosh The Lucky One..."  Kirstie began to ramble and it just kind of all came out of her at once.

Scott noticed the tension that sat right at Zac's jawline.. the forced smile. His demeanor was relaxed, but Scott knew he was anything but.  Yep, he was probably gonna kill him.

Zac thanked Kirstie for the kind words and then politely excused himself after a bit to check on the food.

Once he was in the kitchen Scott decided to try some damage control so maybe they could salvage this night.

"Ok, yes he's an actor but if we could kinda keep the famous talk down?? He gets kinda... weird about it.  It's ok that you did, I probably should have warned you, but he just doesn't understand why people get excited over him and gets almost shy about it.  He's really nice and just normal.  Well mostly."   He smiled hoping Kirstie didn't feel bad about her outburst.

She bit her lip a bit embarrassed that she'd acted that way, but she had just been excited.

"Sorry..." she nodded, agreeing to behave.  Scott gave her a sweet smile.

Mitch had been quiet through the entire ordeal.  His brain was abuzz.

Scott lived with Zac "I'm f'ing gorgeous and everyone knows it" Efron?  How was he supposed to compete with HIM?  Not that he was competing for anything... or anyone... Scott's just a friend.

But still...

He was still in his own thoughts when he realized everyone was getting up.

"C'mon Mitch, dinner's ready." Scott gave him a smile.

"I'm gonna go wash my hands really fast!" Kirstie proclaimed and then inquired where the bathroom was before disappearing down the hall.

Mitch started to follow Scott into the kitchen when he heard Kirstie calling him.

"Mitchell!  C'mere!!!"

"What? You can't reach the sink?" he laughed cutely as he followed her voice.

"I think you'll wanna see this!"

Scott didn't even think twice about what she was saying.  It was Kirstie, she could be referring to anything.

But Zac heard her and understood all too well.  He smirked to himself, happy for the payback Scott was about to receive.  "Oh yeah.  I forgot to ask you if you wanted to take those down."

Scott looked at the older man a bit confused for a moment, but realization dawned on him and drained the color from his face.

Mitch is gonna think I'm a freak!

He hurried to the hallway to find Kirstie and Mitch looking at the three framed pictures.

Scott's color returned furiously to his cheeks.

Mitch was grinning from ear to ear.  Kirstie had a similar look. "These yours Scottie?"

Scott felt like his face was on fire.  "I told you I was a fan."

Mitch felt his own blush as he looked at Scott then quickly back at the pictures of himself hanging there. He had seen versions of the same pictures hanging in various dance schools and theaters around the world... but this...

This gave him an entirely different feeling.  Scott had HIS pictures on his wall.  It gave him the feeling of complete satisfaction.

"Aww, little Scott wants to grow up to be just like Mitch."  Kirstie walked over, reached up to pinch his cheeks lightly and walked into the bathroom to wash her hands.

Scott just laughed and wrinkled his nose cutely.

"Yeah.  Well, who doesn't? I am pretty fabulous" Mitch grinned and struck a pose and then another.

Scott laughed and rolled his eyes cutely.  "I think I might need to take these down."

"Hey!"  Mitch pouted and poked out his lip.

Scott moved close to him and poked it gently with the tip of his finger.  "No pouting..."

Mitch stuck his tongue out at Scott cheekily.

Scott smirked.  "Don't stick it out unless you intend to use it..."  He turned and headed to the kitchen but threw a wink over his shoulder on the way.

Kirstie emerged from the bathroom and looked at Mitch who seemed rooted to the floor.  He let out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

"C'mon, let's go get our grub on."  Kirstie grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the kitchen and the wonderful smell of food.

Mitch's mind was nowhere near eating, but he followed the eager girl.

Scott's mind wasn't really anywhere near the subject of food either.  He didn't know why he'd said what he'd said, been so forward with Mitch when he had just met the guy.  He just hadn't thought about it at the time and it'd just come out.

He secretly worried that Mitch might have been offended or would get weird...but he doubted it.  From what he'd experienced so far Mitch was very easy going and had a good sense of humor...

At least... Scott hoped...

~

They ate and talked... talked and ate.

Zac's food was delicious and Mitch couldn't stop complimenting him on it. If there was one thing he enjoyed it was good food.  The attention he was giving Zac made Scott shift in his seat.

It was Kirstie who started "the" conversation; the conversation that three of the occupants had been dying to start but only one had been brave enough to.

"So Zac...how come you're living with Scott? Do you have a girlfriend?"  She tried to slide it in like it was normal, but she was fishing for information.

"Yeah, Vanessa she's a great girl.  We've been together....what...3 years?"  He looked at Scott for confirmation and the blonde nodded back at him.  "What about you?  Do you and Mitch live together?"

Kirstie looked at him wide eyed and then looked at Mitch who burst into a laugh.

"We are not... " he stuttered out.

"We're just friends..."

"Definitely just friends..."

"I'm single.  We're...both single" Kirstie pointed out.

Mitch looked at Scott for a second as he pulled up the courage to ask.  He felt his chest tighten.  He was a bit afraid of what his answer would be.   "What about you?"

"Me?"  Scott wanted to lie.  He wanted to say he was single too, but... "Oh, I have a girlfriend."  He swallowed a bit, picking at the food on his plate.  His eyes remained glued to it.

Why did that seem so hard to say? Because Mitch is ..everything..  No, Mitch is your colleague... an oh so hot colleague... Stop it Scott...he's just a guy

Mitch's heart sank like a stone.  So there it was.  Scott was straight... and taken.  Not that he'd been hoping that Scott WASN'T straight or WASN'T taken.  He just... thought it was a shame was all....

Zac noticed the shift in Scott's demeanor and also Mitch's.

He could tell Kirstie had something for Scott, but it was probably just an innocent crush. Mitch, however, looked like a puppy who'd just been swatted on the nose with a newspaper when Scott revealed he had a girlfriend.

So Mitch plays for our team... well, our sometimes team.

He studied Mitch's face for a bit while Mitch alternated looking at his lap and stealing glances at Scott.

A few thoughts of Mitch beneath him flashed through his mind, then a few more of Mitch with Scott...

He was so busy daydreaming he didn't realize Kirstie was talking to him.

"Earth to Zac..."  Scott waved a hand in front of his friends face.

Zac had spaced.  That was definitely not like him. Then he noticed Zac's line of vision.

Why is he looking at Mitch?

A surge of jealousy switched on inside of him.

But why? Neither of them were his. He had Angel.

His mind was flying in a zillion different directions. He couldn't work out what he was more jealous of... the fact that Zac was looking at Mitch...or the fact that Zac was looking at anyone besides him.

"Sorry, I'm ... I was..." Zac apologized to Kirstie diverting his gaze.

Kirstie smiled cutely. "It's ok. I'll forgive you just this once."

He smiled a bit and his eyes flickered for a mere second on Mitch before going back to his food.

"We should choreograph something together..."

Everyone kind of looked at Mitch with a blank face.

Kirstie raised an eyebrow. "Well, that was random."

Scott looked at him. "You're talking to me?"

Mitch rolled his eyes.  "No, I'm talking to Zac. I'm sure HE wants to choreograph a dance with me."

Zac chuckled a bit.  His thoughts weren't about any type of dance that could be viewed publicly.

Scott smiled. "That would be cool, but what would it be? Hip Hop or contemporary?"

Mitch shrugged.  "We could make it up as we go along.  Maybe a bit of both.  A ...Hiptempory"

Scott laughed at the absurdity of that word.

Kirstie gave Mitch a crazy look. "A hiptempory? Seriously?"

"Why not?" Mitch grinned.

"We could call it a contemp- hop..." Scott added.

Kirstie grinned and stood up from her chair...

"And now ladies and gentleman a hiptempory contemp-hop routine choreographed by...."

She paused to think...

"Scotch!"

"Oh, no! I will not be called a brand of tape.."  Mitch's inner diva showed herself.  "We will be called Scomiche..."   He smiled at his own creation.

Scott laughed at the nickname. "Scomiche.  Least my name goes first..."

Mitch rolled his eyes.... "Scomiche just sounds better than Mishco..."

"Sounds like one of those foreign ice creams or something." Scott laughed.

Mitch responded by sticking out his tongue at Scott again.

Scott lifted a finger and gave him a look that clearly stated "Remember what I told you..."

Mitch drew his tongue back into his mouth quickly with a smile and a hint of a blush.

Kirstie missed the exchange, but she caught the chemistry floating between the two of them.  "You guys should do it, whatever you wanna call it."

"The Scomiche dance!" Mitch proclaimed.

Scott laughed.  "That sounds so ridiculous. Scomiche."  He said the name again, letting it roll off of his tongue.

Mitch's smile waned a bit and his teeth began to tug at his lip. "I kinda like it."

"I guess it will do. Scomiche it is." Scott conceded.

Mitch's grin returned.  Scott took note of it and mentally filed it away for later re-evaluation.

For now he would just enjoy the company that was Mitch.

...and Zac...

Oh and Kirstie.

And Mitch.
