Ch 30. Rent

Apologies for this - I'm too exhausted to edit or proof.

The dance Mitch is doing in the beginning I will include in case you're curious :)

Scott smiled to himself as he watched the man he loved leap across the floor. Mitch was working on a new piece of choreography and it was absolutely stunning.  Every movement told a story and Scott felt it, was sucked into it. He could watch him dance all day every day. It was beautiful.

When the music finally ended and the movement stopped he clapped in appreciation.

Mitch smiled at him as he allowed himself to leave the emotion of the dance.

"You've outdone yourself."

"Shut up. It's still really messy, but its getting there."

Scott pushed up from the floor and walked over, wrapping his arms around the sweaty man.

"If that's messy, I don't know if I'll be able to handle it when it's finished."

"Afraid you'll cry?"

"Afraid I'll rip your clothes off mid way through. That one move... I think we may have to bring that to the bedroom." Scott smirked.

Mitch laughed. "I love you, but I don't think I wanna know."

Scott just kind of gazed into his eyes, a goofy smile on his lips.

"What?!" Mitch looked at him a bit concerned. "C'mon perv, bring it back to the here and now."

"I'm not thinking of anything pervy. At least not anymore. I just, sometimes it hits me how much I love you and I get a bit overwhelmed."

Mitch grinned. "Aww, baby... I love you so much. Now kiss meeee."

Scott grinned and gave him a quick kiss.

Mitch laughed, but he found Scott's words so endearing, just like always. Scott always said the most thoughtful things, and no matter how many times he got all sweet and mushy it still made his heart race and his tummy fill with butterflies.

"Alright cheeseball, are you ready to go home?"

"Yes, I am starving!"

"Story of our lives, Boo, story of our fucking lives."

-

Things got busy.

Mitch had two dancers that were now paying for private lessons 3 times a week. Now the free hour that he'd usually spend in Scott's class was now spent with Travis.

Scott and Kirstie also had to walk home by themselves 3 times a week because Mitch had to stay behind for his hour session with Evan.

Scott actually didn't mind very much tho. Kirstie usually spent that hour with him and it was good. It was very good. He felt closer to her now more than ever before. That had a lot to do with how much she was opening up to him.

The funny thing about Kirstie, when she wants to be random she can be random, when she wants to be silly she can be more than silly, and when she wants to be serious she's more mature than most people her age.

Scott liked her when she was like that. They had such "grown up" talks when it was just the two of them. They talked about the future and insurance and gas prices...and recently about Jeremy. She was still with him and things were starting to get serious.

She talked to Scott openly about it. He appreciated her trust in him.

She had also been helping him cover with his family. As far as his parents were concerned Kirstie was his new girl.  She didn't mind, at least she didn't for now. He dreaded the day when she would have to actually meet them, but that was a worry for another day.

Scott was also getting quite used to Kirstie's cooking. She was a beast in the kitchen and he looked forward to every night he knew she would be making dinner. He would help her out in the kitchen and then eventually Mitch would come home looking exhausted and bitching about Evan and his holier than thou attitude. He'd jump in the shower and then they'd all eat and talk about whatever.

Scott didn't notice anything out of place.

But Kirstie, she's a smartie... and she, as an outside party, could see things that they could not. She sensed something was off between the two, but she couldn't quite place it.

She'd soon wish she'd kept her eyes and ears closed.

Scott got a phone call.

The branch of the studio in New York had a choreographer get a minor injury. They wanted him to fly out and stand in for a couple of weeks for double his salary plus free airfare, hotel and his meals paid in full.

He agreed.

Mitch wasn't happy about it but he dealt with it. He hated every second Scott was gone, but they got through it.

Scott had been back barely 3 weeks when he was asked to fill in again for another 2 weeks.

He agreed.

Mitch was furious

He pouted and threw tantrum after tantrum, but Scott would simply whisper a few appeasing words and kiss him and all of his anger would fly away and he'd relax into his arms.

"I just don't like being away from you. I just got you back." he had pouted.

"I don't like being away from you either, but it's a good opportunity and its only 2 weeks." Scott had replied.

And off he went again.

.

Mitch didn't like being alone.

Scott had ruined that. He now liked flirting and he liked holding and cuddling and touching...and kissing ...and...other things.

But mostly he just liked company. Scott had been gone for a week and 2 days and Kirstie had been keeping him company every night.

Unfortunatly Kirstie was with Jeremy tonight... joy of all joys.

So he needed someone to hang out with.

He asked Jen during class but she was busy. So he asked Natalie...

She was busy with Jen. He asked Ally, he asked Esther, he asked Angela....he asked EVERYONE...

But everyone was busy.

So he wasn't really in the mood to deal with Evan or his attitude that afternoon. So when he entered the room the other boy didn't even have to open his mouth before Mitch grumbled with moodiness.

It was gonna be a long hour.

.

Kirstie was in a great mood.

Jeremy had taken her out to a fancy restaurant and then to a show at the theatre. Tthey'd just gotten back to her place to watch a movie and Jeremy really wanted to watch Rent.

The only problem with that was the DVD was still sitting on top of the DVD player at Mitch & Scott's.

She told Jeremy she would just run up and get it.

She was surprised when she knocked that no one answered. She wondered where the hell Mitch was at this hour. So she just pulled out her key and went inside. She picked up the movie but stopped when she heard noises.

Bed noises.

Then Mitch ...

Holy shit is he moaning? Frak Me! Is he jerking off!??????

Kirstie panicked. Mitch would be SOOO embarrassed if he knew she was there.

Shit shit shiT!

She tried to tiptoe back towards the door quietly when she heard Mitch again. The way he was talking it sounded like...

Maybe Scott came back early...

Then her heart froze in her chest.

A second voice. A voice that sounded NOTHING like Scott.

Then the moans got louder... the bed moved faster. She could practically hear the skin on skin.

She made a face. No... Mitch could not be doing something stupid.

It had to be something else. Her friend would NEVER do that to Scott. There had to be an explanation.

She hoped.

She carefully, slowly walked towards the bedroom door and peeked through the crack...

.

She ran.

She almost dropped the movie on her way out but managed to keep ahold of it.

She was still catching her breath when she made it to her own apartment and sat down.

Jeremy looked concerned. She took a rain check on the movie and made up some really lame excuse, but he left without much questioning.

She couldn't get her brain to stop buzzing. She couldn't believe it.

Mitch was cheating right above her head. How was she supposed to wrap her head around that discovery?!

She nearly jumped out of her skin as her cellphone rang.

How fitting...

Scott.
