Chapter 8
Jack had decided to stay the night at his mother's house because he was really tired and didn't want to drive home. He walked upstairs to his old room, and as he went through the door, memories were flooding his brain. He saw his shelves, lined up with Super Mario toys, Zelda figurines, and his old GameBoy with Pokémon Yellow still in the cartridge slot. He lied in bed, and tried to go to sleep.
"Is Mark ok? Is he alright? Mark, I'm scared." Jack couldn't sleep because he didn't stop thinking about Mark. He was worried that Mark would die during the night, because of his injuries. Jack was just drifting off to sleep when his phone buzzed. He opened his eyes, picked up his phone, and checked who was texting him.
~Markimoo~
Jack's heart skipped a beat when he read the name. He opened the message and replied.
~Hey, Jackaboy.
~What r u doing up so late?
~Just wanted to say good night to my little shamrock!
~Well, good night, ya big doofus. See ya tomorrow.
~Night.
Jack shut off his phone and tried to get back to sleep. He just couldn't. Tons and tons of thoughts were running through Jack's head. Why was Mark texting him so late at night? Did he have something to tell him? Jack eventually did fall asleep, and all he remembers is darkness.
Jack's eyes darted open, and he looked around him. He wasn't in his bed, but in a chair at the hospital, in Mark's room. Jack looked over at the hospital bed, but Mark wasn't there. A doctor came in, with a tear falling down her cheek. She walked slowly over to Jack and whispered in his ear.
"I need you to come with me..." Jack followed her out the door, outside, and to a graveyard. She showed Jack a certain tombstone, and he wished he never saw that.
~Mark Edward Fishbach~
Jack's eyes filled with tears, and he fell onto his knees.
"Why? Why did he have to? Mark... I need my little red-haired Markimoo... I can't go on without him..." Jack grabbed the tombstone, and sobbed onto it. His eyes closed, and his vision faded.
Jack awoke in his bed at his mom's house, and was really confused. He darted out of bed, and down the stairs to see his mom getting ready to go to work.
"Good morning, Jack. Get ready. I'm taking you to the hospital to see Mark." She said to him.
"Great! That means Mark's not dead. It was all a dream." Jack thought to himself. He got ready, and jumped into his mother's car. When he got to the hospital, he ran to the elevator, and pressed the button. He was so impatient. Jack got on the elevator, and ran to Mark's room after he got off. He was so excited to see his sweetheart.
