Chapter 5
No One's POV
Mark and Jack were keeping their relationship a secret. They hadn't even told their parents that they were together.
"Hey, Mark."
"Yeah, Jackaboy?"
"Do you think we should tell our parents that we're a thing?" Mark didn't know what to say. He thought and thought, then he came to a conclusion.
"Well, we've been dating for about three weeks, and our parents should be the first people we tell." Mark said to Jack. Jack liked that idea, and kissed Mark on the cheek. Then, they both went to their room after class and called their parents.
Mark's Phone Call
"Hello?"
"Hey, Mom."
"Mark! I thought you would never call! How's my little boy?"
"Mom, I'm not little anymore. I'm nineteen. Anyway, I gotta tell you something."
"What is it, sugar plum?"
"I met someone. We've been dating for about three weeks."
"Yay! My boy's found someone! Is she pretty?"
"See, that's the thing. Mom, it's not a 'she'."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I'm dating a boy. I'm gay."
"Oh. Well, what's his name?"
"Jack."
"That's a nice name! Anyway tell him I said hi!"
"Ok, Mom. See ya later."
"Bye!"
Jack's Phone Call
"Hello, who is this?"
"It's Jack, Ma."
"Well, how are ye doing, Jack?"
"I'm doing ok. Ma, I really need to tell you something important."
"Ok, but hurry up. I have butterscotch pie in the oven."
"I met someone. We have been dating for three weeks."
"That's great, Jack! What's her name?"
"Ma, it's not a 'she.' It's a 'he'."
"What are you talking about?"
"Ma, I'm saying I'm dating a boy. Not a girl. I'm gay."
"Oh. What's his name, then."
"Mark."
"Is he from around here?"
"No. He lives in America."
"Ok then. Make sure he doesn't cause trouble. If he does, I don't want you near him."
"Sure, Ma. Bye. Talk to ye later."
No One's POV
Mark and Jack called their parents and told them the whole thing. Mark walked over to Jack, and saw he was crying his eyes out.
"What's the matter? You told your mom, didn't you?" Mark sounded concerned.
"I did, but she doesn't like that I'm dating a boy." Jack responded. Mark looked at Jack, hugged him, and cried.
"I don't understand. Is she homophobic?" Mark asked.
"She never did like gay people. My best friend growing up was homosexual, and when she found out, I couldn't play with him anymore." Jack was crying like crazy. He couldn't stop.
"Hey. Tomorrow's Saturday. Maybe we can go to your mom's house and tell her we don't care what she thinks." Jack thought Mark's idea was awesome.
"Yeah. Yeah, let's do that." The two boys climbed in bed, and couldn't wait until tomorrow. Because tomorrow, they were going to do something neither of them would forget.
