Chapter ten
Michael's Point of View
Me and Luke hid in the attic, where I were positive no one would go. No one knows where the entrance to the attic is besides us four. It's hidden, which makes it a perfect hiding place. There was couches, boxes, a t.v, and a mini fridge in here.
It was decorated to be like another room. Which is why Luke is laying on the couch, half asleep as I watched the entrance. I wasn't sure where the other two hid, but I was curious. I wanted to know if they were okay, I needed to know. Isabelle could fight for her own, I didn't have to worry about her.
"Michael," Luke said in a groggy, raspy voice. He was quiet, and I wasn't sure why. I hummed and looked down at him. Seeing as his head was on my lap. "Do you think Calum and Ashton are okay?"
"Positive," I answered without hesitation. "Ashton can fight, and so can Calum, somewhat. And plus, Isabelle is with them. I'm sure she'll make sure they're okay."
"Why didn't they follow us up here? They know we're the only ones who know how to get up here." He asked me. He was like a little kid, asking so many questions, needing so many answers.
"I'm not sure," I said truthfully. "Calum was frozen, so I guess Ash felt they didn't have enough time to get up here. Or maybe they forgot about up here."
"Where would they hide? Everywhere else is so... cliche. The bathroom, the closet, under the bed, behind the couch. They'd be spotted easily because they're so predictable." he told me, turning around so he could look at me.
"Not sure, maybe under a bed. Like, in one of our rooms. I don't know, Calum and Ashton are unpredictable. I don't know where they would go. I didn't see them we we got up here," I told him and he nodded.
It was silent between us after that, a comfortable silence. But it didn't last long. A yell rippled through the silence and a gun shot sounded. It echoed off the walls and made my ears ring. I could hear the crashing of glass from up here, and I knew the house would be a mess.
"Do you think that was?" Luke started, his voice frightened and nervous. He didn't even have to finish because I knew what he meant.
"No, they're safe." I said, adding an 'I hope so' mentally. Luke nodded again and closed his eyes, trying to sleep. How he could be so calm is beyond me. I was terrified, but I tried to keep it hidden.
I needed to stay strong for Luke. I knew he wouldn't know what to do if I started freaking out. If I was to freeze up and have a panic attack at this moment, he'd panic himself and not know what to do. He'd be scared, and two panicked, scared, and nervous boys isn't needed at the moment.
Another peaceful silence filled the air, lasting longer than the last. I heard another gun shot, making me jump and Luke flinch. After that it was silent, no crashing, no thumps, no clanks. Nothing. Absolute quiet.
I nibbled on my bottom lip, afraid of what's happened. I don't want to go down and see the fighting is still going on, but I don't want to stay in here longer then necessary. There was no bathroom up here.
"Should we go dow-"
"No." I answered quickly. "I'll go down there, you stay up here." I told him and he looked at me confused and shocked. I was shocked myself, I didn't even want to move, how was I supposed to go down there?
"You can't go down there by yourself." he said and I chuckled. I shook my head as he spoke again. "I'm going with you."
"Nope, we need our lead singer in one piece," I said and then added, "and breathing."
"But we need out guitarist alive and unhurt. " he said and I sighed. This boy was so difficult. I got up and he did too.
"You're not going alone Michael." he said and I heard a knock on the door that led up here. I froze, so did Luke. A cold feeling rushed through me as I looked at Luke.
"Is that Calum and Ashton?" he asked and I shrugged. I pushed him behind me and walked up to the door. "Dude, get back. It could be someone else, someone who's out to get us." he said and pulled me back.
"What killer knocks on a door they could bust open?" I asked and he thought about that. Another knock, this time in a pattern, sounded and I furrowed my eyebrows. Who is that?
"Stay behind something where they wouldn't be able to see you." I said, pushing him behind me. I heard a sigh and a grumble, but he did as I said. I walked up to the door, hesitating to open it.
Suddenly a thought stuck me, these people are agents. They know how to trick people. If it isn't the boys, then I'm screwed. If it is, then I don't have much to worry about. I hesitantly grabbed the locked and unlocked it, opening it to reveal two relieved boys.
"Where were you guys? Did you get hurt? Is Isabelle okay?" I asked quickly and Ashton nodded. I wasn't sure which question he was answering, so that wasn't much help.
"We were in uh, Isabelle's room, hiding. She's okay, a few cuts, scratches, and bruises, but nothing serious. And Ash got hurt, just a bit though." Calum said and I nodded.
Something seemed off about him. He spoke quickly and quietly, like he was thinking. He played with the bottom of his tank-top, which had a large hole in it, one that was obviously not supposed to be there. I stared st him a few seconds, trying to figure it out, yet nothing seemed to make sense. What could have happened? What did happen?
"Boys!" I heard Isabelle yell. "Come here!" she sounded angry and upset. Like she was annoyed and irritated at someone. CoughcoughAshtoncoughcough
"Luke, come on, it's safe." I said and turned around. Luke came out from behinf the couch and walked over, rubbing his eye with the back of his hand. He yawned, but smiled as he saw the boys.
"You're okay?" he asked and Ashton nodded. Calum was missing, so I guess he went to see what Isabelle wanted. "What's with the shirt next to your neck?"
"I'll explain later," he said simply. I looked at Luke and then at him, then nodded.
"Let's go see what Isabelle wants." Luke said and I nodded. We walked down, Ashton looking around worriedly and nervously. His eyes darting to every corner and ever spot big enough for someone to hide. Either he was scared or being protective, and since he's Ashton, I know it's the second one.
"You called u-what. The. Fuck." Luke said, as we walked into the living room, well what was left of it. I stopped in my tracks and so did the others. I looked around wide eyed and jaw dropped. And no it wasn't because of Isabelle, well, fully.
Tables were flipped over and cracked. Chairs were broken. The couches ripped. The t.v was smashed. Shattered glass everywhere. Blood on our drawers and ripped up couches. Holes in the walls and dead bodies on our debris covered wooden floors.
"All because of a few guys?" I asked Isabelle, who stood in the middle with a bloody knife in her hands with her arms crossed. Her white t-shirt full of holes, blood, rips, and tears. Her pants were ripped and bloody. Her hair was messy and a gun rested on her hip. And despite everything that went on, she seemed unfazed by it. As if it was a normal, every day occurance.
"Where's Calum?" she asled as soon as she seen us. Her breathing was heavy and it made her chest rise up and down quickly.
"What happened to our living room?" Luke asked again. He was upset. We spent thousands of dollars here and it's all destroyed. All ripped up or broken.
"I'll have it fixed. Now, where is Calum? Ashton, you were with him, where is he?" she spoke firmly. Her eyes were fixed on Ashton, waiting for him to answer her.
"I don't know, he left us when we-when we got to Michael and Luke." he spoke, taking the shirt away from his neck. It had blood on it. Isabelle sighed and ran past us, glass crunching under her shoes.
"Ashton, follow me." she said and he followed her without questions. I looked at Luke who was looking at me. We were both confused, upset, and not to mention, worried.
